Delicious halal cart style food but higher quality! And yes, the food is halal. I like Shah's but the meat here is better. They also have burgers and sandwiches. I had the classic combo which consists of chicken and beef gyro. The white sauce that comes with it is very good as well as the pita which was nice and soft. My boyfriend and I have been looking for more local halal type dishes after getting put on to halal guys years ago in NYC. Often we'd drive to New Haven, Mainport over in Norwalk, and consider taking a ride into the city just to satisfy our craving. Did a quick search online to see if any other places looked worth trying and Zahra's had great reviews so we called in an order. Chicken combo, has a great chicken to rice ratio, rice was aromatic and pretty, white sauce was great, and the garlic salad dressing is delicious. My boyfriend got the Classic combo, chicken with beef gyro, after pouring in a whole side dish of hot sauce, he ate the whole plate and after said one word, "DELICIOUS"! The hot sauce was too much for me to handle, luckily I got their cucumber yogurt and cooled my mouth down dipping my pita/naan bread in it. Also they're chocolate chip cookie was to die for and the people there were very kind with lovely manners! Definitely going back. And so should you! read more

Pretty much always get Z's chicken entree here. It's fast, friendly and a great local restaurant. I've had Shah's but I prefer the add ons that they do in their entrees here and the meat much more. Meat is tender and flavorful, nice cucumber and salad, topped off with a few slices of pita. Just wished that their hours were a bit more extended but that's how it is for a local business to get their days off too. read more

I always passed by this spot, but never knew this hidden gem. We ordered for pick up and went inside which looked very nice and clean. I ordered the chicken and rice and this was honestly one of the best chicken and rice dishes I've ever had. I also got the babaganoush (?) eggplant dip which was the perfect side. This was a delicious meal. Of course we over ordered and had leftovers but I definitely was not complaining. My boyfriend got the falafel which was also very crispy on the outside and soft and delicious on the inside. Went in last night after randomly craving NYC Halal Cart Platter. Not only did this satisfy my craving, but it blew every cart in NYC out of the water. The quality of the meat and the proportions are top notch. Originally we ordered a side of Beef kebab, but they were out so he offered the Lamb. Let me just say, I am happy they were out because I would've never tried the lamb.. it was tender, juicy and cooked to perfection. Just go there and try this place for yourself. We somehow ended up and ordered too much food, which is okay because I am eating the rest for lunch today.. which is what prompted me to write this review. I only get the chicken platter w rice salad and pita. The lamb is good too. (Avoid the French fries ). and stick mostly to there specialty items which is the chicken shawarma or combo with lamb.
