The staff is very friendly. The establishment is clean with a good amount of seating for dine in. The food was good. I had the jerk BBQ chicken with collards and candied yams. The yams are mashed but very caramelized and delicious, the collard greens are ok a little more smoky tasting which I didn't care for. You can smell the grilled food from outside and it was a scentsation! Haha. The waiter was kind and patient and honest and helpful. I even accidentally left my left overs in a container on the table and he ran out to hand it to me when I was about near my car. Decided to try this place after seeing it all over instagram. Glad I did because the short ribs by far are the best I've had in a while at a restaurant. The cornbread melts in your mouth like cake, it was so delicious as well as the Mac and cheese. What I thought was very cute was the popcorn served while we waited for our food that was also a very nice touch. My only disappointments was the mixed vegetables that was drenched in so much butter and oil you couldn't eat it and the jerk chicken should have been described as a stew rather than your regular jerk chicken, it wasn't what we expected at all! My family and I had a nice iftar dinner at Addy's a few weeks ago. We ordered three main entrees. The short rib sandwich was amazing. The flavor was a great balance of sweet and savory; the meat was tender & moist. The jerk smoked chicken was also delicious. However, the smoked brisket was disappointing and could have been prepared better. The sides were alright but not particularly noteworthy. As far as service goes, we were fortunate. Our waiter was friendly & accommodating; we wanted to ensure the food arrives right before sunset, and that's exactly what happened. I know barbecue can be unpredictable in terms of wait time, but there wasn't much crowd when we arrived. The ambiance is alright, but it can get a bit drafty in certain parts, which sucks when your food cools down too quickly. My impression from the other reviews is that Addy's has a consistency problem. Sometimes the food and service is great, but sometimes it's not. A buddy and I wanted to splurge and check this place during Turkey day eve. Normally, we would be heavily drinking on this day but we are old now. We got confused because we entered through the left side and saw no one. I thought we had to order at the counter. Then the staff led us to the bigger side of the restaurant. The brisket was thinly sliced and lot it's juices and was dry. I can see why the dish came with gravy. The beef rib for $30 was muted by all the BBQ sauce. The sides, plated in these cutesy cast iron portioned a tiny amount. I like the idea of doing BBQ restaurant with a modern fusion twist great but the execution is not there. A legit BBQ spot will have the BBQ sauces on the table. Also, on the tables there should be a paper holders with brown paper towel. However, the knife and forks are in a stainless steel tin with 2 napkins. I think this place needs to be concentrate on a smaller menu. They are taking a lot of time to prepare the food so they do not cook too much food that do not sell and eventually throw away. I also saw a bubble tea seal tape machine. We didn't get the meat platter, there were only 2 of us- but instead I ordered burnt ends with corn bread and candied yams (both sides were delish). The mash potatoes don't come with gravy so I opted out of the potatoes. I ordered wings and brisket. The mishkaki comes out sizzling hot. I ordered the combo beef and chicken. But brought .e a plate if chicken and beef cause they messed up the order, but only charged me for the combo. Mishkaki are East African style kebabs smothered in a sweet and spicy marinade and charred on the grill. The brisket was cut with the grain and somewhat dry. The mashkaki comes out sizzling hot so you'll wait a few minutes to even be able to eat it. The sides, yams, mix veggies, and cornbread. Yes cornbread is a side and does not come with any meals. The chicken and beef mashkaki was just OK. The beef was tender with little flavor. Same as the chicken. The sides and ginger ale were all very good and saved the meal. The service was weak as the waitress did not come by to remove anything off the table that was really crowded. It is labeled a BBQ place but there was no sauces offered. With the brisket came gravy. Upon arriving, there was a 20 minute wait. I was promptly called within 20 minutes to be seated. We were told it takes about 50 minutes to an hour for food to come out, I appreciated the transparency. That being said, it took much less time for the food to come out! My wife heard about this place and it peaked our interest. We were looking forward to it since I love to smoke meat and have quite a collection of smokers. First of all, the pop corn they give you in the beginning is a nice gesture, but it was a bit stale and had no salt. When I received the burnt end brisket I was surprised to see it smothered in bbq sauce. And not just any bbq sauce, but the type you get at a Chinese place on your rib tips. The meat had a small and faint taste of smoke, which if you've cooked brisket, you know really holds the smoke flavor. There was no smoke ring around the meat edges. Some pieces of meat were very dry, almost like it had been warmed up in a microwave. I highly suspect the meat was a chuck roast rather than brisket. The sides were lacking to say the least. The mash was dry and almost clumpy. I think they use the powder instant mash. The collard greens were very bitter and soggy. They had no flavor at all. No smoked turkey or ham hock in sight. The venue has a typical BBQ place interior, with the dark wood colors, & tables covered with butchers paper. Very casual venue. Staff is friendly, & efficient. We had the BBQ Beef Ribs, Short Rib Sandwich, side of Cornbread, & Jarritos sodas. Their soda selection was limited to (3) Jarritos flavors, & (2) C&C brand soda flavors. They accept credit card, but they're offer a discount if you pay with cash. They do not serve alcohol, & they do not allow BYOB. The BBQ Beef ribs were just Ok, the Short Rib sandwich was good. A thicker cut than I expected, but not a flaw as it was still tender enough to eat relatively easy. The Cornbread was VERY good. I was very happy about that, as Cornbread is something that is easy to get wrong. It was buttery, had a light sweet glaze, very moist, & served hot in a skillet. Decided to take my family here for lunch and catch up but, it was more like dinner. As soon as we came in they asked us what we wanted to order so they could start it. I didn't even get a chance to look at the menu, nor was I even offered a seat yet. The waiter informed me its due to the wait time to make the food which was about an 1hr and 30 before we actually ate. Appetizers were also taking about an hour wait to come out. I don't think they had the proper equipment or enough staff to cater to all its customers. Luckily we were able to be seated but after that, about 5 families were turned away due to the lack of seating and wait time. 2 families got up and left after they ordered.I'm sure they are losing a lot of profit because of this. My family of 5 food came out very sporadically we all ate at different times. Now, let's get to the food I wasn't really impressed, the beef tips were good and the mixed grill was fine but, it lacked the BBQ sauce. Even when asked for BBQ sauce they are very stingy. I never knew a BBQ place to not have accessible BBQ sauce on the table or side The broccoli side came out about 30 mins after my meal came. Once you place your order you will be waiting about 40 minutes to an hour for your meal because those beef ribs are cooked when you order, they are pipping hot and they fall off the bone. The burnt beef ends are so tender,smoking hot as well. The collard greens was my least favorite but those Yams were amazing! Mac and cheese were fantastic. When we arrived home, a 40 min drive, unpacked the bags to notice no side. We called Addy's to ask what happened to our sides and told us no sides are given to the Meat Lover's platter. Go to "on line order" it specifically said two sides. I will never recommend a dishonest establishment, this is one of many.
