Bomb Sandwich with beef and fries
Joe D.

Had The Bomb Sandwich. Beef sautéed with spicy giardiniera, melted cheese (their version of cheese wiz), with roasted garlic mayo on a toasted roll. From a guy from PA. (Home of the Philly) I gave it a 7.25. They cut the bread instead of making it a sub, so was kind of messy to eat, but tasted great. Good quality meat. Fries were hot and had a good crunch to them. Mike, Ryan, and Katie were very attentive, great energy, and made me feel like a VIP even with them being busy with the Xcel event going on. And definitely get a Grape Ape (same owners that own The Loon) Follow me for more reviews and comment what I should try next. Yep Elite 25!

Loaded tots

Stopped in a few times before hockey games and it is pretty good. I like the loaded tots appetizer, I think it is a nice twist on a classic. Garlic bread is pretty good and nachos were a good amount. The pizza is also just your standard pizza. One thing to note, you cannot order the full menu outside which was fine for us but thought it was kind of weird. Service was good but it can get busy on game days.

I was super hungry coming back from a meeting I was attending. There was a pizza place directly across from my hotel so I went in. It was DELICIOUS! Wonderful wood fired thin crust pizza. I devoured it!

Slice of the Day - Sausage & Roasted Veggies

Stopped in on a whim before a concert looking for something quick. The interior of this place is underwhelming, and seating is limited, though we found a nice high top spot near the window. It is so dark in here, we needed to stay by the window to get some light! We decided to order the slice of the day: Sausage with Roasted Veggies (mushrooms, caramelized onions, and red peppers) and their Loaded Tater Tots. Everything was piping hot when it arrived and super flavorful. The pizza has a nice thin crunchy crust and was loaded with cheese - wish I would have snapped a pic of that cheese pull! We had some drinks while we waited for our food to be made fresh, everything here was reasonably priced considering how close it is to the Xcel. The only down side was it did take a lot longer to receive our food than we would have liked, which was surprising because it didn't seem that busy inside at the time. The staff were very friendly and happily answered any questions we had. Parking is limited, we parked at a nearby lot for the concert and just walked over. Super convenient to just walk across the street before or after an event at the Xcel. I would definitely come back!

Came in for a quick lunch with friends on the patio. Great food, great service. Best mediterranean salad I've seen in the twin cities. Great wings too, wish the bleu cheese was chunkier but that's just me!!!!

Ridiculously good food and great service. Found this place randomly and glad we did. Definitely 5 stars.

We were at the wild game last Saturday and we made the mistake of parking in lot a on the 4th floor. After the game we were stuck in the garage for nearly an hour so instead we walked back to grab food and a drink. I am so glad we did because we found Zamboni's an old school pizza joint in St. Paul right across from the stadium. With limited seating and an old pizza parlor feel this place has slice and drink specials and specialty and traditional pizzas, sandwiches and Italian food to order. We tried a variety of slices and some beer on tap and got a table to wait out the traffic. A coupe of thoughts: The pizza is good, it has a ton of cheese and was fresh out of the oven. This isn't a hipster place, it's a bit run down but has an old school charm. There isn't a lot of seating - be aware if you are in a group A ton of people order takeout - I'll bring the kids this summer and join that crew! I like this place - I'll be back

The ideas for reviews dribble in based on light bulbs going on, memory, filing photos, and time to write them. That said, this review of Zamboni's is fairly recent and depended more on me looking at some photos of my visit. Of the Twin Cities, I like St. Paul more. I don't know why. Perhaps because it's hillier, quainter, quieter, and has unique landmarks, such as Union Station, the Cathedral of Saint Paul, and the Minnesota State Capitol. I wanted to try a grub joint in St. Paul and thought I was going to get pizza. Zamboni's is a pizza place. However, I settled on lasagna, and had them add mushrooms to it for a very reasonable upcharge. I got a soft drink, too. The server was really helpful and wanted to make sure I got what I wanted and how I wanted it. So did the apparent owner. And they helped with directions, too. The prices were fair for the genre of eatery. Seating inside is limited and it's mostly tables along the wall. The weather was really nice that evening and I was able to get one of the tables outside on the wide sidewalk. The lasagna arrived and the presentation was slightly "Eye-talian," meaning it was in an oval casserole dish and had the cheese covering the top. However, once I began digging into it, it was tasty and the portion size was to my liking, meaning I didn't leave hungry. There are a few other things to note about Zamboni's. First, I figured a Mr. Zamboni might have owned the place at one time. Clearly, I was not connecting the dots. This pizzeria is on the same street and slightly west of Xcel Center, a sports arena where they play hockey. (Light bulb goes on: what was the brand name of that machine that cleaned up the ice at the Culver Ice Rink in Culver City when I was a teenager? Duh.) Next, the location is excellent, in an area west of downtown with trendy eateries, on a major artery, and walkable from several Metro Transit stations. For that matter, you could also approach it from Shepard Drive below and along the river. That way, you will have an opportunity to burn off calories owing to the hill that separates 7th, and Zamboni's, from the nicely configured riverside green area down below. Lastly, it appears that they have pizza slices and, given some photos I saw, they also have some fine looking, outfitted gyros. How did I miss that?

Visiting from out of town for work and heard this spot was good. I would not recommend this spot at…read moreall. The pros: portion sizes are huge, chicken tasted good The cons: waiter did not stop by the table once, my water was empty within the first 10 min of sitting there and i had to take my cup physically up to the counter to get water from them because i was so thirsty. I didnt see him once after that, he just stood up at the counter talking to the other server. The pasta was oily, they put so much cheese on everything that the oils from the cheese come out and my pasta literally had a layer of oil all around the plate. The mozzerella garlic bread barely had any garlic bread taste, tasted mostly like mozzerella. The mozzerella was also so oily that the garlic bread was just soggy 5 min after the waiter put the plate down. The price is steep, by myself i got an app and an entree only and it came out to 48$ before tip. Overall, for a spot with the reviews it has it completely let me down along with the locals who recommended it to me.

It should be noted that I've never actually set foot inside Bella Ciao Pasta Bar and Ristorante. I…read moreonly experienced it today through the lens of a takeout container. For lunch, I ordered the Chicken Marsala. You get to choose a side; options ranging from Alfredo Fettuccine to Green Beans to Mashed Potatoes to Spaghetti Marinara. I went for the Spaghetti. The meal also came with two breadsticks. Overall, the dish was decent but not remarkable. The highlight was the mushrooms in the Marsala wine sauce. They were flavorful and well prepared. The chicken itself was just okay. Without the sauce, it lacked seasoning, and the texture varied throughout the breast, with some parts tender and others noticeably tough or chewy. The spaghetti was good, though comparable to standard spaghetti you might find anywhere. The breadsticks, however, were disappointing; they were extremely hard and not enjoyable to eat. I also wish the Chicken Marsala and the spaghetti were packaged separately. Because of the amount of sauce, everything blended together in the container. I don't mind my food touching, but separating the items would make for a better presentation and texture. I do think other menu items may have more to offer. One mediocre experience isn't enough for me to write off the restaurant entirely, so I would consider trying something else in the future. However, I wouldn't recommend this particular dish based on today's order. Overall rating: 3/5.

We called around 5:30 to see if they'd seat us at 7:15 and they were able to reserve a table for us. I got the daily special which was like a chicken Parmesan but with steak. It wasn't my favorite thing because I was not expecting the steak to be thinly cut and more on the dry side. That could be my bad - I heard steak and was imagining something totally different. But it wasn't still pretty good! The noodle texture was to die for. It was $30. Drinks were delicious too and ranged from $12-$15. The only thing that I didn't love, is that they charge for every little thing. we got the focaccia and asked for olive oil and balsamic. Why was that an extra $2... $1 for olive oil and $1 for balsamic. If we hadn't ordered it, it would have been an $8 large sized muffin of focaccia - which turned into $10. Definitely not worth it. I asked for some extra Parmesan and they charged $2 for pecorino... honestly it just threw off the experience a little. And it came in the tiniest little cup. I understand maybe 50 cents but $2? Especially when we're having five drinks and three entrees between three people, realizing we were paying extra for those items on the check just was not enjoyable. I'd recommend this place to others as a great place for pasta and drinks, but pasta and drinks only. Maybe avoid asking for any thing on the side and I'd skip apps.

It is in the Mac-Groveland neighborhood so there is ample street parking nearby if you turn on any of the side streets. The restaurant does get busy at dinner, so I recommend making a reservation ahead of time. They have many unique options for cocktails and mocktails. I opted for the Slaychel which is a non-alcoholic beverage that I think of as an elevated mimosa. It is fruity, slightly tart, and delicious! The service was great! Our water was frequently refilled and never got empty, and our server asked about any allergies and dietary restrictions before we ordered. They were able to modify menu items to fit the different dietary restrictions! Two people in our party (including myself) are vegetarians and one member is gluten-free and also doesn't consume much dairy or eggs. They were able to serve the patatas bravas with the egg on the side and the grilled asparagus with the egg and cheese on the side so we were able to all share the starters. The patatas bravas were wonderful! The potatoes are perfectly crispy but still fluffy. The tomato sauce was slightly smokey and had a very slight kick (think Minnesota spice) and it balanced out well with the creamy tomato. If you're only going to try one appetizer, this is the one to try! The asparagus was also nice. The salsa verde had a slight kick (a bit more than the tomato sauce from the patatas bravas, but not super spicy. Still Minnesota level of spice). The shallots also added a nice crispy texture to the dish! The egg really stood out in this dish, with its runny yolk and batter coating. There were a lot of nice elements and textures. As for pastas, I split the Spaghetti and Radiatore with a friend. The Radiatore was nutty and tangy, and the serving size was generous. I enjoyed it, but I would order the Spaghetti over it any day! I don't even know how to describe the Spaghetti and do it justice. It was creamy, cheesy, delicious. Our server said it was a staff favorite, and I understand why. If you're looking for a vegetarian option, go with this one!! Even if you aren't a vegetarian, give it a try. It's so classic, and it's done so well. For dessert: they give free churros when you're dining in! They are served warm with a chocolate drizzle. We also ordered the Honey Cake which we enjoyed a lot! The cake itself was light, like a mousse. There was some crunch from the hazelnut praline and honeycomb toffee pieces. It was nutty and sweet but not overly sweet. It was a perfect way to finish off the meal! Estelle was delicious and the service was great! I can't wait to come back!
