Today I want to give a heartfelt thank you to Peter of Red Wagon Pizza Over the last couple of years, Red Wagon Pizza (Peter) has hosted my family for dinner and multiple private events for my work always carving out time to share his story, connect with guests, and create an atmosphere that's both welcoming and inspiring. (I have also done his virtual class "Pizza with Pete" which is awesome) What really stands out is Peter's commitment to doing things the right way and that shows in how incredible everything tastes. Not only do they bring people together through great food and hospitality, but he also gives back in meaningful ways. A special shout out for his continued support of my kids' school, Annunciation. This kind of quiet, consistent generosity makes a lasting impact, and it doesn't go unnoticed. Let's get right into it! There is free parking on the street. It can get packed and there was a small parking lot on the side of the building. The service here was... ok. Our server was very prompt, not really nice. As in, she literally threw the dessert menu on the table and said nothing. It was bizarre... she also wasn't overly knowledgeable in the menu. Just struck us as weird. Also expect slower service on the patio. It took a long time to get drinks and food. We didn't necessarily mind since we were all visiting, but if you are trying to eat quickly, it may be better to go inside. The patio was clean and a decent size for a Minneapolis restaurant. I never went inside so I can't speak to those vibes. We got the double pep, popeye with mushrooms and dry rub wings. I would say the dry rub wings are on the sweeter side but were pretty decent and not dried out. Get both sauces! The green goddess sauce was delicious! The blue cheese was done right! Plus you can dip your crusts! The pizza toppings were very tasty! The crust was just ok for me. I have heard they do an awesome happy hour! So definitely look into that. My first visit to Red Wagon Pizza Company was an absolutely delicious one! Reservations are encouraged and can be easily made online. The staff are incredibly welcoming and kind. Our server was attentive but not overly pushy or rushing us. This is a family-owned establishment and it's great the staff uphold those values in the service they provide. Because they work as a team, all of our food and drinks were brought out quickly and each at perfect drinking & eating temperatures. I had the delight of experiencing their patio seating. It was a gorgeous Saturday afternoon, perfect for enjoying a $14.50 Beer Flight and a fruity Little Red Wagon, under a beautiful shaded tree. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken wings with homemade Blue cheese, and almost cried at first bite. Sooooo goood!! Their homemade buffalo sauce is the perfect amount of heat and wraps perfectly around the juiciest wings! It's very much worth a try. The key to a good pizza is the dough, and RWPC's got their dough recipe in the bag; fresh, light, and baked to a crusty, thin perfection. If a good pie is on your mind, the "P.S.O." won't waste your time. On a bed of caramelized-onion red sauce, they've layered fresh cheese, sausage, "spicy" cup pepperoni and finished it with hot honey. Oh Em Geeeeee! It was a first bite I'll be thinking about all week. The savoriness and crispness of the sausage and pepperoni cups, combined with the sweetness of the hot honey; it was a transcending combination! We ordered the "large" 14" thinking we'd have extra to bring home.... We actually ended up eating it all and wishing we had ordered a 2nd one to go! Was traveling around Minneapolis back in April and tried Red Wagon Pizza Company for dinner one night after remembering that they had been on DDD. I remember watching the episode and thinking how delicious the pizzas looked, so, of course, I had to try for myself. At the time, I ordered the Carl The Cuban Pizza, described as a pizza with "12-hour citrus-Cuban pork, shaved ham, house cheese, dill pickles, & French's mayo." I'm not a mayo fan generally, but it hit the spot on this pizza. I actually enjoyed the pizza so much that when I returned home from Minneapolis, I still had a craving for it. Fortunately, I discovered that Red Wagon was available on one of my favorite food ordering sites, Goldbelly! So not only did I get to order another Carl The Cuban Pizza to enjoy at home, but I got to throw in a Red Wagon Pizza ("Red sauce, sopressata, banana peppers, cheese, sausage, chili flakes, garlic salt, & fig balsamic") as well... all coming straight to my home. Huzzah! Back to the Minneapolis spot though. Service was friendly and welcoming, and the overall experience was pretty much perfect from start to finish. Red Wagon is still amazing. I am writing an updated review because the restaurant has expanded. I'll start off my old tips. Parking is not easy. If you are lucky enough to park in their parking lot, buy a lottery ticket. It is that rare. If not, don't park on Penn Ave. Park somewhere on 54th because it will be less stressful. Trust me. Regarding food and beverages, it is still amazing. Now they have become really good at salads and Italian food. Their meatballs, lasagna, and house Italian salad will blow your mind. This means if someone does not want pizza (crazy), they be extremely happy. We ordered my two favorites (P.S.O. and Red Wagon Pizza). I fight everyone for the last 2 pieces of pizza. Here some other comments. The service is amazing...like always. Now you can host huge parties. Check out the new pictures of their expanded space. They did an amazing job. This pizza place feels like you are walking into someone's home. There was someone at the door to open it and welcome me, a warm atmosphere with live music and the friendliest staff. We sat in the back room and ordered two split pizzas. One with double pepp and just pepperoni. The other was the McLovin it and The Popeye. For a traditional, I loved the double pepp. It had the crispy cup pepperoni and was so good. My least favorite was the McLovin I t. I didn't McLove it, sadly. It had decent flavor, it was just dry. It needed more sauce. Towards the end of our meal, a young man that worked there was going over the dessert menu. He was so friendly and funny. I'm surprised this was my first time here, but glad I enjoyed dinner the other night. Had an online reservation which was easy to make and were seated promptly. Note, parking is street parking so be sure to allow yourselves time for that. Our server Emily took about 10 minutes to greet us upon our arrival, but it was busy and it appeared she was working the section herself. She got our drinks right away and put in our appetizer order (meatballs) right away. Those came out quickly and those were delicious. Sauce and meat were seasoned very well. I'd definitely order again. For pizza, I ordered the 10 inch P.S.O. which had caramelized-onion red sauce, house cheese, sausage, spicy cup pepperoni, & hot habanero honey. Was it spicy? Absolutely not. All the flavors complemented one another well. The other pizza we tried was the 10 inch Popeye which had Garlic oil, spinach, sausage, house & Robiola cheeses, lemon, & black pepper. This one was also very good. I was a little unsure what I thought about the lemon flavor, but not overpowering at all. Flavorful. I was bummed to find out they not longer slow you to do 1/2 of one kind of pizza. That's the only down fall. Not everyone wants to order two pizzas even if they are small. This is a nice space with lots of tables- low and high. Bar area right when you walk in. Didn't look at the dessert menu as I was too full. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are offered.... Yay! We met up with a group of friends (8 of us total) on Wednesday evening. I mention the timing because each of us showed up thinking the others had made a reservation, so we were a bit worried about our group size being annoying for the staff. They didn't seem bothered at all, in fact, & were able to seat us right away by pushing a few tables together. Our servers were excellent, too. I had a drink with egg whites on top that ended up sliding down the outside of the cup, & the server came over to wipe it off for me, which was so unexpected & kind. To the food, we had: --Half Olive Oyl/half Banh Mi pizza: first off, it's super cool that you can do halvsies on a specialty pizza! You can't even do that with a lot of chain spots' standard pizzas. I had the Olive Oyl & my husband had the banh mi; both were really good & I loved the variety of toppings on them. It made me really want to try their simpler pizzas to see how they compare. --Caesar salad: the soft boiled egg was a nice touch. I love the crunch of the lettuce & the salad dressing & toppings were really good. It's also a very large sized salad & could probably be a meal or be shared by more than 2 people, depending on how hungry you are. My 1 & single complaint is that it was freezing inside. We popped into Red Wagon at an off time and had a great experience. They have a beautiful dining area and plenty of outdoor space too. Since we were pretty much the only diners inside, we had great service and we absolutely loved the 2 super unique pizzas we tried- Bahn Mi and Cuban. The prices are pretty hefty so we won't be here every day, but it'll be in the slightly-fancy rotation for sure. read more

It took us far too long to get back up here again.... A repeat visit to Red Wagon Pizza Company for us last weekend and to top it off we finally got a chance to meet and talk to Peter Campbell the owner. We took advantage of the outside seating on the patio area..a tree growing up in the center of a table is a very cool touch. I ordered the Carl The Cuban Pizza and the Mrs ordered the sausage pizza...we split an order of the melt in your mouth delicious meatballs to start off with. The Carl the Cuban pizza is named in honor of Carl Ruiz aka Carl the Cuban, who passed away much too soon (God must've been looking for a hilarious guy that could cook up some awesome food). Red Wagon Pizza was able to accommodate our large party and even the change of it getting larger when more people showed up than expected. The best part was being able to order a pizza with two different sides/flavors/types. What a game changer. Service was good, but I feel we broke our server when it came time for the bill. They offered to split our tabs into individual people but every single bill was wrong. It wasn't just people getting other people's orders, but two people were being charged for the same item while others had things left off their bill. One of our go to pizza joints. We argue about ordering Red Wagon and Lola. Pizza was a little too crispy this time. It was Friday and very busy - guess we will stick to different times. Would usually be five stars, but this is below par for them, they have set very high standards, which we have come to expect. Will say we went a couple weeks before this and they had a deep dish pizza as a special and it was special! We usually like a thin crust, but tried this and it was amazing. The secret sauce tastes like it's made with mayo so it's a little sweet. I will say though, for a $25+ pizza, they were stingy with the beef. Something told me to get extra or a side of it, something. Because the beef was really missing in action. We also got a regular plain cheese for the kiddo and he liked it I think, but for me it was really plain and really really thin. There was barely any sauce on it! I was so tempted to run back just for a sauce. I liked the pizza, but for $48, if they're going to skip out on the toppings, I don't think I'd come back. Visited 9/7/23. Finally made it to Red Wagon and after I found myself wondering what took me so long. This place is spot on from their drink selection to the food itself. I made a reservation in advance but there were definitely still open tables when I got there around 5:30. We got put at a slightly awkward table next to a prep kitchen but everything else was so solid I didn't mind. Drink options were great and I landed on a cider for the night. My friend and I split a salad, one of the veg pizzas, and an order of the rigatoni with rose sauce. The pizza here shines and that is definitely what I would recommend over everything, but the other options were still good as well. They would benefit from maybe one more veg pizza as I was with a friend who is vegetarian, but overall I can't wait to come back. read more

Food was unique but delicious, not your typical pizzas. Dough was delicious even the pickiest of kids are an entire pizza. The wings were hot and meaty. Service was not fantastic but got the job done however I am writing this as we sit and wait for them see if we need a box and hopefully bring our tab. We knew we had to try red wagon pizza when our friend said it was one of her favorites! We made a reservation for four people for a Saturday night about three weeks in advance just to ensure we would be able to select a reasonable time. The reservations do book up head! We ordered and split amounts the four of us the: Bar Chips, Red Wagon Pizza, and Carl the Cuban Pizza. The Bar Chips seemed like they were regular ruffle chips you get from a grocery store and was served with a dipping sauce. I had envisioned that they were going to be made from scratch and served hot but this was not the case. The red wagon pizza was probably the best out of the three items we ordered. Overall a good pizza. The Carl the Cuban pizza was something we were trying that outside our comfort zone. I think this would have been good for someone that really likes pickles but I can't say we would order this one again. The yellow mustard was also an interesting touch and would probably have liked a different sauce in its place. The ambiance was nice! It's not a huge place but we really enjoyed the atmosphere. The summer patio was absolute heaven. I'm gluten free, I had the roasted veggies (omg they were soooo delicious) and split a Caesar salad (crostini on the not-my-side). One of my most visited restaurants! The pizza here is fantastic, and the service here is equally amazing. Food: the pizza here has some delicious and unique toppings. My favorite is the banh mi pizza, topped with with delicious ingredients like soy glazed pork and Sriracha aioli. This is a must try. They also dish out amazing specials like a clam pie and wake n' bacon pizza (their NYE specials!). Be sure to check out their instagram to see all their upcoming specials! Ambiance: this place is always bustling with people! When you come on Friday and weekend nights, I would recommend a reservation. Service: the servers are attentive, and I have always been checked on every so often. The food comes out in a timely manner as well. No complaints here! Parking: this may be a little tricky. They have a few spots next to the building, but these get pretty filled up. Street parking is always an option here, but be prepared to possibly parallel park! Red Wagon has a lovely, fairy spacious patio for outdoor diners, and the interior is beautiful- gleaming subway tiles, cozy booths, dim lighting. We've been here numerous times and were surprised at how good the wings and other side dishes were. The pizza is good and they have fun, playful options like a cheeseburger pizza, alongside the classics. The pasta was OK. I was so pleased to see THC drinks served, along with their massive tap list. WOW this place blew me away! After reading through the menu before visiting I was excited to try the food but the menu doesn't even live up to how good it was! I ordered one of the pizzas that Guy Fieri ordered when he stopped by (I forget which one/what it was called...it had banana peppers on it lol) and it was SO GOOD!!! Probably one of my favorite pizzas I've had in the Twin Cities. I also ordered their seasonal salad, which was a watermelon and burrata salad, and that was also amazing. It had hot honey drizzled on it, and I'm a huge fan of hot honey. The staff here were also super super kind and chatty. The whole experience was awesome. The only downside is that the pizzas and food are on the more expensive side...but considering the quality of the food, the cost is completely understandable. The pizzas are also large enough to be shared by two or three people so if you split a pizza, then the cost is more than reasonable. I will 100% be coming back! Nice day to visit Red Wagon's patio. Our first visit. We had battle of classic: Double Pep vs PSO vs Red Wagon. Two adults and two young kids - Double Pep won. The other two were too sweet - we did a half and half on those. Out of those, I'd give it to the banana peppers (Red Wagon) over the honey habanero (PSO). We came over a shift change and the first server gal was hands down better than the second. Caesar Salad was perfected with an egg. Decent bev list. Unfortunately prices have gone up and quality of Food has tanked. bar chips were no better then ruffles potato dipped in chick fel a sauce. Pizza was burnt.
