Growing up in the South Bay, Torrance Cultural Arts Center became near and dear to my heart. When I…read morewas younger I took different classes dance classes here. I remember taking ballet as kid and modern dance as a teen. I also took a workout class when I was in college. I always appreciated the large and spacious dance studios where the classes were held. Now that I'm older I've also come to appreciate Torrance Cultural Arts Center as a venue. I've been to several different festivals here such as the Japanese Matsuri Festival and Lunar New Year festival. This spot is perfect for the community to get together and like how each festival is able to have many different booths. I also love how there is a stage area both outside and inside. I've also attended the Torrance Firefighters' Annual Spaghetti Dinner here. This is another great event at this spacious venue. Despite it being quite a popular dinner, there''s plenty of room for all to enjoy an evening out. Torrance Cultural Arts Center is great! Whether it be for classes or community events or festivals, this spot is perfect for small or large gatherings.

There are other halls that are available for rental if you want to have a wedding or some kind of function. They have a beautiful Japanese garden located on the north side of the center. The only drawback I have regarding the Torrance cultural center is that the Armstrong Theatre needs to have their chairs and some of the facilities renovated. The piano that sits in the green room needs re-tuning or replaced. The auditorium chairs in the Armstrong desperately needs new furbishing other than that, it's a great place to come see a local performance of the local groups in the area. The Torrance cultural center would've had a five star review for me if the facilities were kept in better working order.

Not only is this little house full of cool artifacts and information it comes complete with a flatulent senior citizen volunteer docent! : )

There was a lot of parking and it was a quiet morning. The view was amazing, but the interior setup was interesting. The venue had a large round table that would sit 10 comfortably, but they had 11 people per table. It was hard to maneuver around the tables and guests without crossing in front of the guest speakers. At one point, we couldn't figure out where the extra sound of music was coming from during one of the presentations. I heard it coming from the kitchen. The bathroom had 3 stalls on one side and 4 plus a handicapped stall on the other side. They had a hands-free sensor for the toilets flushing mechanism, which I thought was amazing. They also used high quality paper towels and provided little plastic cups for mouthwash. The breakfast selections were awesome. There was this whipped yogurt that was thick and fluffy, almost like cream cheese. They had this tomato parmesan croissant that was aromatic and I wanted more (I had 3). The custard Danish was delicious too. Lunch selection was pretty good too. Their pasta dish was cold, but filling. Their chicken and salmon were cooked perfectly, wasnt dry. Their smoked gouda mac and cheese wasnt creamy, but wasnt fully dry either. I really enjoyed the barley that came with the salmon. The potatoes were my least favorite, I thought it was too dry and very salty. As far as the golf course, you need to be a resident to get a discount ($10k), and there is a monthly fee after the annual price of $50k. The course looked amazing, not too many people out during my visit, but it had the hills, the sand pits, a lot of green fields.

The ground & adobe are beautiful & well maintained. Professor Tony was absolutely incredible--patient, engaging, and deeply knowledgeable. Although we had a minor accident that delayed the start of the tour, she was incredibly understanding and accommodating. Despite the unexpected hiccup, my dad had an amazing time and even said this Adobe Ranch tour was his favorite out of all the ones he's experienced. We're truly grateful for such a memorable day!

The tour at the Banning Museum was an absolute fiasco…read more We arrived at the front house and were told the tour started in a building behind it. The welcome staff sorta chided us saying there was a sign with a pointing hand showing where to go, but all four visitors interpreted the sign as pointing toward the front door of the house instead. Once we found the correct building, my husband realized he had left his bag in the car. I told the guide I'd wait outside while he grabbed it. When he came back, they told us we had to pay $5 each. He handed over $20, and the Tour Guide immediately seemed irritated that we didn't have exact change and had to go get change from another room. Strange energy from the beginning. Then she announced to the room of... four visitors... that the tour was "running late" and starting behind schedule. The tour was scheduled for 1:30 PM. It was literally 1:33 PM. She explained the rules and specifically said, "No photography in the house." While we were still in the reception building, I took photos of the displays and the family tree. She suddenly scolded me and said photography wasn't allowed at all. I clarified because she specifically said "in the house," and we were not in the house yet. She doubled down and said no photography anywhere. Fine. I immediately put my phone away and even checked that my ringer was off so there would be zero disruption. Then we walked to the front yard of the house. Everyone stood in the grass, but I stayed nearby on the sidewalk because ants tend to crawl on and bite me. I could still hear her perfectly and remained with the group. Suddenly she stopped the tour again and looked visibly distressed. She told me I should leave if I was uncomfortable. I reassured her I was fine and wanted to continue the tour. At that point, she started breathing heavily, covered her face with her hands, then held up her hand in a "stop" gesture and announced that SHE was uncomfortable continuing the tour. I asked if she was saying she wanted me to leave because she felt uncomfortable. My husband finally said we should just go because it was obvious she no longer wanted us there. We got our money back, ironically the same money exchange that supposedly caused the entire massive 3-minute delay. Also worth noting: the website says the $5 is a voluntary donation, but in person it was presented as mandatory. Her treatment of us and reactions felt disproportionate to the situation. We were polite, cooperative, and excited for the tour, yet left feeling singled out and unwelcome. Really disappointing because my husband and I were genuinely looking forward to learning about the history.
