I think this may be the best restaurant in Dixon. Good pizza, friendly service, and very tempting desserts! We came here after striking out with a restaurant nearby... we were hungry, it was late, and we weren't expecting much. We didn't even want pizza, to be honest. But we sat down and ordered because we knew this was our best bet for the hour. If you order a large pizza, they will let you do half and half toppings... so that's exactly what we did. Half was Zander's special (basically their meat lovers, with four different kinds of meat) and the other half was their margherita (just mozzarella, tomato, and basil). Pizza came out very fast and we started munching away. The pizza is actually wood-fired, and they do it very well--the crust was excellent! The toppings were of good quality and fresh (they actually used real mozzarella and not the fake plastic shreds!) and their marinara sauce was clearly homemade and delicious. My only wish was that they put a little more basil on top. We were also tempted by their dessert menu and ended up getting the cheesecake. It was surprisingly good (I think our server told us they make it in-house too) and we enjoyed it very much. Although we were told that the caramel was homemade, too, I didn't think it tasted any different from store-bought caramel syrup. Went here for the first time this evening. Service was excellent, as was all the good. Started out with meatballs and bread sticks as appetizer. The marinara sauce, homemade, is very tasty. All the pizzas are named for local towns, and can be ordered as pizza or calzone. We ordered out made as calzones. My friend had "The Dickson," which is Italian sausage, bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms. I had "The Burns,"which is shredded chicken, onions, and bacon. The flavoring sauces are not IN the calzone, but are served on the side. Mine was a housemade bar b que sauce, while my friend's was marinara. All delicious!!! The place is kinda small, but you're not sitting on top of the next table. The size makes it more cozy than cramped. The fact that it's all made in house, including the dough, and local sourced, is a great aspect to this place. All this for a very reasonable price. I had lunch there today. We had the Dickson pizza and cheese sticks. The food was awesome. Because we were new the waitress brought us a sample of all their dipping sauces to try. The service was really good. The wait for our order wasn't very long. Our waitress was very friendly and really took care of us. I'm adding them to my go to list for lunch. read more

They took us in right before they closed(which I normally try to avoid) and treated us a kind as anyone wonderful service and easily the best pizza I have ever had(and I've worked in a couple high end pizza kitchens). Dickson's best kept secret. We had Jonathan as our server who did a great job of explaining some of the pizzas we were going to try. They have craft sodas and beer which is really refreshing. They were unfortunately out of cream sodas and root beers ( mix up on a product order) we had the cheese sticks as an appetizer which was so good , it's cheese and herbs on Woodfired pizza crust and a delicious dipping marinara. Me and my husband both got the house salads that were dressed with fresh spring mix cherry tomatoes, cucumber, carrots and cheese with homemade croutons. We both got ranch as the dressing. It says buttermilk ranch. This isn't hidden valley y'all, it's a homemade herbaceous ranch dressing probably made by the person who's also outback hand churning the ice cream they have (which was delicious, we got a flight of 4 flavors) the pizzas: all Woodfired we got a personal pan of each. The White Bluff and The J.R. The white bluff is Whit's sauce and has goat cheese topped with olive oil arugula and spinach. The JR is a buffalo chicken pizza with a creamy white sauce and the best buffalo sauce I've ever had. It has banana peppers and bacon also. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a good pizza place that's out of the norm of typical small town cooking. This place is artisan in every aspect. They seemed to have stepped up their training game with their servers from past reviews I've read because when my drink got low another server took it upon herself to fill it because our server had just got a party. -that's great teamwork- i have been a server for many years and don't really cut slack for crap service and it was top notch at Zander's for us! Found this little gem while camping at Montgomery Bell State Park and wanted to get away from the drenching humidity that was going on last weekend so we ventured into Dickson for lunch. I am really glad we did. The place is really cute and the oven is out in the open so you can watch the staff moving food in and out of what is a very cool pizza oven. Just fun to watch. Service was absolutely spot on despite it being very busy. My husband and I split the large Mediterranean salad and The White Bluff done as a calzone. Both were excellent. That salad, though, WOW! Who gets excited about salad? I do when it is done this well. So many ingredients and so generous with them. We could not eat all of it and still have room for the calzone, which was also delicious. Their dough is so incredibly good and crispy. My son got a personal pepperoni and a scoop of ice cream and he loved all of his as well. It was also a very clean restaurant... We will go back again when we are in the area. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I am getting pretty stingy about that. You kinda have to blow my socks off these days to get that, and while it was fantastic, it didn't have whatever it takes to get me quite there, but it is pretty close! Simply put, after six years of living in Dickson County, this is by FAR the best restaurant we've found. There might be a more professionally-run operation, but WE haven't discovered it as of yet. We've been here for lunch and the food has been ok, nothing to write home about, but ok. This evening my wife wanted pizza so we made the trip to town. Our server was prompt and beverages came quickly. When we ordered we were informed they were out of sausage which was an ingredient on my wife's pizza. She requested pepperoni to replace it. However, when the pizza arrived they had substituted bacon for the sausage and no pepperoni. We sent it back. The second attempt had the pepperoni but also had black olives which my wife specifically requested NOT to be on the pizza. At this point we just gave up and went for sushi. We arrived in town just passing through and found this gem. We ordered a personal pizza and a calzone. We decided to share both of them and they were delicious. The sauce was excellent and the meatballs were full of flavor. The place was packed but there wasn't a long wait for the food to come out. We also ordered the breadsticks with the goat cheese and my only ding would be that they could be a little more generous with the amount of bread they serve with the dipping sauce. I found we had lots of sauce left over after the bread was gone but since the sauce was so good we ate it by itself. Finally we got a scoop of coffee ice cream and bread pudding ice cream with a chocolate chip cookie. All three were delicious and a tasty way to end a perfect Yelp find! read more

The white sauce didn't have much flavor at all and I found it to be a bit bland(I was appreciative of the amount of bacon as the salt was much needed). RUDE employees! I came in with my family to eat on a Friday night and we were told there was a 15 min wait. I was standing at the host desk and she said I wasn't allowed to stand there bc it was a fire hazard. I asked her where I could stand bc it's cold outside and she said "'no where in the building." I said I will go to the bar and sit if there's a seat open." Someone actually came over to me at the bar and said I couldn't sit here bc I was was waiting for a table. I told him I would order a glass of wine (which come to found out they don't have.) He shook his head and walked off. Our table was finally ready and we were seated but the staff is rude. The salads are good & so are the garlic knots but wear warm clothing in case there's a wait bc apparently you aren't "allowed" to wait inside for your table. My favorite is the greek salad. The pizzas are good too but sometimes mine is burnt in places, I don't mind extra brown and crispy, but I don't like burnt. I'm still giving a great review because it's not always the case. And, yes, I know it's fire cooked, I have had fire cooked pizzas in other places that were not burnt. Like I said, it's still good food, just a heads up on the scorching from time to time. The service is usually very good as well and great selection of beers. read more

This review is not based on the food, since I never had the opportunity to try it. We are traveling through TN and thought we would give this restaurant a try yesterday. Upon walking in, the place smelled great and was busy, but not packed. There were about 4-5 open tables and we were greeted as soon as we walked through the doors...it was just my husband and me. Right behind us came a party of 4 people, who were ushered to a table almost immediately. We didn't think too much of it as they were older and one was using a walker, so having her seated was fine with us...however, one of the hostesses came back and told us we would have to wait 30 minutes before we could be seated. This was NOT ok, especially when there were still plenty of open tables. My husband asked if we should have made reservations before coming in and the young lady said, "We don't take reservations" to which I asked why we would have to wait 30 min. She rudely said because there are people waiting for tables in front of you. We were literally the only ones standing waiting for a table. At that time, another party of 3 plus a high chair came in and were seated. It became obvious they didn't want to seat parties fewer than 4 at tables that were not 2 party tables in an attempt to pack folks in. We left and went to the pub down the street and had a great dinner with super friendly staff. We will NOT be trying to eat here again when traveling through. Way to go...for your lack of accommodations, you have lost our business. read more

Zander's is a great place to eat in downtown Dickson. The staff have been very friendly both times I have been in and got pizza. The reason for 4 stars is because the lack of variety on the menu. Zander's doesn't give much choice for the kinds of pizza offered, but both pizzas I got were absolutely amazing (buffalo pizza and sweet bbq pizza). The prices of the pizza is actually not overpriced. The cool thing about Zander's is you can get shot glasses of ice cream and the ice cream is made there.
