I arrived at the peak of the lunch rush and was pleasantly surprised how quickly I raced through the long line to place my order. The staff is very engaging - welcoming guests as they hear the door open with a loud but settling greeting. I ordered the Mongolian beef as it was being pulled off the grill. The umami of the beef mixed with my favorite, secret, "tiger" sauce was phenomenal. Zao has a modern take on Asian ambiance that serves its purpose of combining Asian fusion delicacies with fast casual lifestyles. Last but certainly not least, the house-made Frescas are delicious and not to be forgotten about. I like this place. Did they lower their portion size since we started coming here years ago-I think so? But what I like about this particular location is that well, first of all, it's in a great location with lots of options for restaurants, it's got a Harmon's and some nearby retail shops. I also love that this place has unique limited time items like the Mongolian beef. That was a really pleasant surprise. I really do love the food here, however, it is ridiculously overpriced. I could go to a sitdown restaurant and get the same meal for just as much money. The thing that frustrates me the most is if you order a bowl, you get a solid 1 to 2 cups of rice and then they give you a quarter cup of sauce on top of everything and expect you to be satisfied with the amount of sauce. If they just wouldn't charge extra for sauce or an extra scoop of a topping, I would come here way more often. read more

It had been quite sometime since I had been to Zao! My husband and I were feeling something on the lighter side so we came here. The service was average. The employees didn't really seem to be that helpful or really care about their jobs too much. The food was pretty good but the portion size of the chicken was lacking in my opinion. In addition, I was given hardly any broccoli mix. I really like the yellow curry sauce. I would definitely recommend that one over the green curry sauce. The green curry sauce doesn't have too much flavor in my opinion. I really really like the crispy onions, peanuts, and cilantro on top. I would definitely like to come back give it another chance. I see a lot of people getting the tacos but those don't look very good to me, considering the fact that they give you the tiniest amount of meat and the tortillas are just some generic tortilla brand. read more

I love zaos! This place is delicious. Service is good. Kids eat free on Mondays! One time (we eat here a ton) I found a hair in my bowl (yuck) they did apologize and offer a complete refund for our whole party, which was nice. It wasn't busy at all so that was nice I could easily get a front row parking spot and walk in, get my food, and walk right out in less than 5 minutes. All their ingredients were fresh and delicious. I've always had excellent service at this location. The staff is super kind and they don't look at you funny when you ask nicely for extra cilantro (which everywhere they should be fine with because it's like a penny!). Tip: Get the Tiger sauce--it is the best! It's a combo of teriyaki sauce, spicy aioli, and chili sauce. It has the perfect kick. Get it so they never get rid of it. Zao has good food and fast service. I'd like to get a bit more food, for the buck, but it's worth a try for a twist on Asian cuisine.

Zao Asian Cafe is a nice fusion of Asian and American food. It's got a fast-casual feel, similar to many restaurants that have opened in the past decade. You walk to the counter/assembly line where you place your order and watch as it's prepared in front of you. I always get the teriyaki chicken bowl-it's delicious! Pay at the end of the line, take your drink cup to the soda machine to fill up and then find a table. Service is friendly-people seem to enjoy working there. The seating area is open and bright....and there is patio seating available too. Every other table was closed due to COVID, but there still was ample seating at lunch time. Parking lot is shared with other businesses in the complex, so it can get a little tight. read more

The steak is delicious and my go to. The vegetables are cooked pretty and give great flavor. My favorite part is the potatoes! They are a MUST! I love this location and it's a great lunch spot. I have passed by Zao Asian Cafe locations for years...but it took me a regrettably long time to finally pop in and try it. I guess I just wasn't sure if I would like the flavors that much but boy do I?! Upon arrival, I must say, this parking lot is horrible. It is off in a little corner, always full, then there's a one way, then there's a swig line blocking you from getting out and your only option is the parking lot in front of Capriotti's...which isn't a horrible walk but definitely an inconvenience lol. I am sure the business had nothing to do with the design of the parking lot, but just beware of this when planning your visit here :) It must be because of all the offices in close proximity of this building, but it has never NOT been busy in here when I go. Which honestly, good for them. I do love the option to order pickup and have your food ready for you when you get there via the app. You also get a reaaally nice parking spot (if available) by ordering pickup ;) For the food, it is always great. I have always loved upgrading to the yakisoba noodles, with all the veggies, chicken and teriyaki sauce. Occasionally, I will get the tiger sauce too--it adds a LOT of flavor. Then I have it Zao's way with all the toppings on it. I think this part is crucial because it adds all kinds of flavor but also TEXTURE! The texture is amped up by 1000 when you have it Zao's way! One time, I got it with rice instead of the yakisoba noodles and it was very meh...so I will always upgrade my noods! Everyone is always nice and despite it being busy every time I have been there, I find that the staff is quick and the line moves very efficiently. Haven't had food from here in a while, it's always been so good, fresh and refreshing, But today was awful, soggy rice noodles, two and a half pieces of broccoli because they were out and the meatballs were dry,crusted and had a rancid taste/smell, they yellow curry sauce had no flavor qnd so thin that you know it was watered down, I asked for a couple extra meatballs since I had no broccoli.
