**Do not get the matcha** We spent $15.50 + tip on 2 marchas and a gluten-free cookie. The cookie was delicious, but both marchas were not mixed well at all. We couldn't get a drink of it without getting bitter chunks of unmixed matcha. We ended up throwing both away as soon as we walked outside and went somewhere else to get another. Staff was friendly and the cookie was good. But I don't think they know how to properly make matcha so don't get that. I'm sure the coffee is good but we didn't try that. read more

The service and cookies were fine. The chocolate chip and walnut chocolate chip cookies were ok but not mind blowing. It was late in the day. The real weak point was my beverage, an almost undrinkable vanilla latte. The coffee itself was very bitter and there was barely any vanilla in it. A cute little corner coffee shop with baked goods! We received a coupon flyer from our hotel for buy one large latte/mocha get a free cookie so of course we jumped on the deal since we were downtown. We ordered a large mocha, it was perfect and reasonably priced. What was even better was all of their cookies options!! I'm a chocolate fan sooo my son and I both ordered the chocolate fudge cookie, it was soo good with the coffee or just by itself! I'm picky about my baked goods, and Zappa's delivers up soft cookies with great flavors. I had the chocolate chip, peanut butter, fudge chocolate, and ginger spice. All were fantastic. Being a big fan of Frank Zappa and of the coffee bean I had to check out this shop. Well, it has no relation to Frank (no fault of their own) and very little relation to coffee. The staff is friendly, and the cookies are good but being in the tourist zone they are expensive. The coffee is weak. I do not want to nit pick but coffee should be strong enough to make your hair itch. This coffee could not even take tarnish off of an old silver spoon. I am a big fan of tasty beverages, and holy moly does this place have those figured out. One fateful day I ordered a 16oz mocha. There is impressive menu and they have the ingredients to make probably anything you could desire. This mocha was sweet and and powerful, but not overwhelmingly so. Think crisp, warm high five from Mr. Rogers on your tongue. I slowly savored this divine beverage, but it quickly changed my life. All of the friendly, cheerful employees are gifted with abilities not found in mere mortals. These are deities from the heavens sent to enrich your day. I've been going to Zappa's for a long time now, and it is definitely one of my favorite local coffee shops in Ft Bragg. Usually my "go to" if I happen to be around. Top things I like: - Organic Coffee - Friendly service - Can pay with credit/debit card - WiFi / some outlets -Fairly convenient location with parking on main street or the back of the Company Store Building. Hmmm wonder if we visited on an "off" day... Cookies were ok. Shortbread was dry. Walnut chocolate chip was really sweet. And the drinks were meh. Vanilla latte was mediocre. A true "vanilla" latte. I love this little coffee shop. We visited Fort Bragg last weekend and came to Zappas all three days! I'm still craving the coffee and pastries from here. Prices are very fair; I got a house coffee each day (added a splash of half and half) and tried several different scones. Pastries are made fresh daily and coffee was so delish. Excellent coffee very rich and the creme comes through wonderfully right up there with Pete's coffee in Richmond. Such wonderful flavor I can actually enjoy it without sweetener. Very good coffee! I love coffee and I like to try all small cafe's in the area's that I am staying. This I can honestly say is some of the best coffee I have had. The woman that served me I think owned the cafe, so she was very nice, social, and interactive about how we liked our coffee. This place was really cute, the baristas were super friendly and so we're the few customers that were there. I got a carrot cake muffin and a coffee w/ a shot of espresso. The muffin was good! For the coffee....I was asked if I like a dark or light roast, and said dark. Now the reason I ordered it w/ the espresso is because I hate weak coffee, but it was still somehow SO WEAK.
