such interesting flavors…read more honeycomb flavor was delightful, with crystallized toffee or sugar pieces inside the ice cream. pretty sweet and a nice treat. also tried the rocky road, which is good if you like chocolate and nuts and marshmallows. 3 types of cones to pick from: sugar, waffle, and something else service was kind casual spot with enough tables to sit and enjoy your time

Are you looking for a great place to spoil your next meal with a delicious snackaroo?…read more I got you! The family had the pleasure of visiting Fort Bragg a couple of times this spring and the restaurants are good there, but Cowlick's Ice Cream is not to be missed! Everybody, but everybody is standing in line at Cowlick's Ice Cream, waiting to get some great one-of-a-kind ice cream flavors, floats, and toppings in downtown Fort Bragg. They have regular cones, sugar cones, waffle cones, and my favorite, chocolate dipped waffle cones! Ice creams can be adorned with with toppings galore and surely you will want to eat a nutritious meal, but may just go back for more ice cream! My personal favorite ice cream is the Hokey Pokey Honeycomb ice cream (on rotation, it is not available all the time). It is creamy and filled with honeycomb candy from a local Fort Bragg candy store! (Unfortunately for us, their the candy retail shop closed). The hubby and offspring went for and enjoyed the more traditional Rocky Road ice cream. Next trip I plan to try their ice cream sammys! The shop is clean and spacious, with plenty of places to sit inside and enjoy ice cream or shakes while watching the goings on in downtown Fort Bragg. I have never been there when there wasn't a wait to order, but it is well worth it! Locals and tourists alike can be consulted on flavor, cone or float choices. The clock is conveniently broken because when enjoying ice cream, who really cares about the time? So yeah, go spoil your next meal with some Cowlick's Ice Cream goodness! They won't disappoint! If you by chance get addicted to the ice cream, I found the local grocery stores carry pints to go! Lucky us!

We had dinner at Petite Percebes/Good Bones on a trip to the Mendocino area in April…read more The service was pleasant and friendly, the space felt comfortable with both tables and couches (no live music at the time we visited), and everything we ate was delicious and nicely presented! Our favorites were: + Broiled oysters with bone marrow butter, Parmesan crema, and breadcrumb: although I'm not usually a huge fan of oysters, I did enjoy these particular ones! + Lemon cream pie with tangerine, lemon curd, brown butter graham, citrus marigold Chantilly: we split one slice of this pie, but I could've eaten a few more slices of the pie by myself (if my stomach had space left). Perfect ending to the meal. + Primavera panisse: crispy chickpea fritters topped with a variety of greens and flower petals. + Yuzu marigold kombucha (Wilder x Petite Percebes collaboration): this was a refreshing, lightly sweet complement to the heavier dishes of the meal. We also tried the cassoulet (which had roasted chicken thigh, Roundman's garlic sausage, pork belly, Heirloom beans - a heartier meaty dish); and the potato chowder with oyster mushrooms, spring greens, and wild nettle pistou (we loved the mushrooms in it). This spot is worth stopping by!

Loved visiting Good Bones! A hidden little gem among the coast…read more I visited on a Sunday morning with a small group of friends for a quick bite to eat before we headed off for a hike. Inside was huge! Giant bar, tons of tables for dining, along with a stage where it looked like they hosted live music! We ordered our meals up at the front counter and took a seat in the dining area. I ordered a Golden State Mighty Dry cider and their grilled cheese sandwich with added caramelized onions and mushrooms. We were the only people inside, but food came out quick. Everyone was a huge fan of their meals. I loved my sandwich, the bread was absolutely delicious. Also was a huge fan of those mushrooms they used! We ended up leaving with a fresh baked loaf of bread when we left too for home. Service was great, food was on point, and loved the vibe they had going. Would love to come back to see some music one of these days.

Working at…read morea local hotel affords me the opportunity to listen to and guide people on their local culinary adventures. There are a few staples that garner much of the out of towners attention. Laurel Street Deli should be one of them. My kid and I got looking for food late and were met by long lines. We decided to walk to the Deli and found a seat. Famous for their coffee and pies, we sat. My son, a breakfast sweets connoisseur, devoured the French Toast. I was in a biscuits and gravy mood but chose a Benedict instead. It is one dish everyone has a twist too, they are either very good or blah! This one hit a homerun (baseball can't come soon enough), it lasted less time than my sons.... finally a sport I can beat him in. Not pictured was the best cinnamon roll I have ever had. Definitely get out to Laurel Street our get next to the Skunk Train. Visit Fort Bragg, California Only in Fort Bragg Shop Historic Downtown Fort Bragg, CA #eatlocal #shoplocal

Some tables and chairs in the open area, with a smaller behind glass seating area. Grabbed a table up front and the server brought us menus, there is also a daily special board. Huevos Rancheros with a good cup of coffee, I went with one of the days specials. A large flour tortilla with refrieds, cheese and a couple over medium eggs on top. Basic, simple and good. It served its purpose. 3.5 Stars rounded up for the really good cup of java 01157
