This area has been missing a great Iraqi restaurant, and it's finally here! We tried the falafel sandwich, beef kabab sandwich, and eggplant salad and they were all delicious. The eggplant salad was tangy and smoky and fresh. Both sandwiches were nicely grilled and hot. Raad took good care of us! Plenty of comfy seating, and the ambiance is modern and clean. YUM! The Baba Ganoush here is perfect! Which is a rarity out this way. My friend and I also enjoyed the Falafel sandwich and Iraqi salad. Loved their version of the Falafel sandwich and the salad was different and delicious. Everything was fresh. The restaurant has a nice decor and is very clean. Servers were very personable. Where do I start?! This place looks amazing, from the signs outside, to the entry and setup inside. The chairs for seating look fancier than expensive restaurants. The decor is stunning. However, I went to enjoy some delicious middle eastern food and that's exactly what I did. The portions were generous and everything was so flavorful. It felt like just a few short minutes after ordering that the food was at the table. Delivered with a smile and kindness, as if you're family. Who would I recommend go here? The better question is who wouldn't I recommend going here! I've driven by Zara countless times so I thought we'd give them a try last night and I'm sure glad we did! My son and I got the combo for 2 and there was enough food to feed a family of four. It came with an assortment of different grilled meat skewers, chicken and beef shawarma, and chicken cream chops. They were all fantastic! The meat was served over a heaping bed of yellow rice and the 2 stews that came with it were both very flavorful and a nice accompaniment to the rice. Our combo also came with a big salad, bread, and garlic sauce too. Will definitely be adding Zara to our family's rotation for nights we don't feel like cooking! read more

We tried Zara Eatery for the first time during its soft opening, ordering four carry-out meals plus a side. The chicken shawarma bowl with rice was flavorful and satisfying (great mix of spices, tender chicken). The chicken shawarma entree with grilled vegetables came with generous portions, and the vegetables were nicely charred without being overdone. The chicken shawarma sandwich with fries was crisp, juicy, and the fries were hot and well seasoned. The beef shawarma sandwich with grilled veggies (instead of fries) stood out, the beef was rich without being greasy, and the vegetables added freshness. The small side of hummus with pita was smooth, creamy, and paired perfectly with the pita. Service was friendly, packaging was secure (wrapped in plastic wrap to avoid spilling), and although they're just opening, the quality feels established. Spectacular service, amazing food... I saw this place driving yesterday and was intrigued by a "Middle Eastern Diner" so I came for lunch. The three salad mix with a side of baba ganoush and lentil soup was what an amazing taste journey. The hummus was flavorful and creamy, the baba was Smokey and smooth and the lentil soup had subtle flavors that hinted of cardamom or curry. Great place, will definitely be back read more

We found ourselves right by our old house around dinner time tonight and spotted this new place that opened since we had been here so decided to give it a try. We had never been to the place that was here when we lived in the area because....well, it looked kind of like an old Clock restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked in to Zara and immediately saw it had been completely redone. Very cute place, bright and modern. We were immediately greeted by more than one employee one of who turned out to be the owner who doubled as our waiter tonight! He was extremely friendly and welcoming as the owner of a new restaurant should be. I ordered a chicken tikka sandwich and an Iraqi salad and my wife ordered a large Greek Salad. While we were waiting a plate of turshi and some pita bread arrived at our table. We both enjoyed the turshi....sort of like pickled cabbage. The Iraqi salad I had seen in a photo online and it looked great and happy to say the salad was as good as it looked. Very light and refreshing and healthy! I would absolutely get it again. And again. My wife enjoyed her Greek salad as well. She liked the dressing which was different than the typical Greek dressing. She said the feta was good and a generous portion. I enjoyed the sandwich also. The chicken was tender and nicely seasoned. I'd like to try the lentil soup next time and maybe some kabobs. Talking to the owner he is clearly focused on providing quality food and it shows. I have had Mediterranean food but never at a restaurant. My friend and I came in after my 6th Chemo I was tired and groggy but I was hungry and wanted to try this new place! Rod the Owner was wonderful he showed us great service starting with an amazing Iraki tea!! Some cucumber yogurt we ate on some flat bread which Colleen and I devoured it was the best!! Then he brought me my chicken shawarma and some Bulgur! It was in place of rice and so much better for you and I love rice. But I have a new favorite! He brought me a side dish of beans in some sauce I can't remember the name! I was in heaven those who know me know I am a creature of habit when it comes to food I usually stick with the same stuff when I find something I love. Their menu is huge and so many other things on it I want to try! I am sure I will be back in within the week. Rod was such a good human we loved talking to him. He has worked hard to make this place great. Very nice atmosphere. Everyone in that came into the restaurant raved of the food and service. So do yourself and him a favor and stop in! You will not be sorry! If you have any questions just ask him and if you happen to find anything you find is not your favorite let him know. I had a potato thing he brought in a sauce and I love potatoes but it wasn't my favorite! But the beans I snubbed my nose up to at first turned out to be something I would order again. I really wanted to like this restaurant because I live close. Walled lake needs new restaurants and retail. The first impression is that its a beautiful space. Very bright and clean. We ordered the lentil soup which was good but the smallest portion I have ever received in a restaurant. I also ordered a fatuosh salad. This was awful, the dressing tasted like old oil and the pita chips in it were dark and greasy. Just no flavor at all. I never waste anything and I couldn't even save it. My husband had a chicken sandwich and said it was meh. It was small and didn't have alot of flavor. The service was even worse. The server brought the food and never returned. We actually had to go to the register to pay because we were ignored. Not a good experience at all. read more

The inside is beautiful! Carryout only for now, but you can sit inside and eat. However, the food was not great. Chicken was overcooked, lemon rice soup was basically a thick mush and the lentil soup was a water consistency. Don't get the grilled vegetables...yuck.
