Wow. I've driven past this little silver diner on Horseblock Rd for a long time before I came across a few reviews suggesting I stop in. I'm so glad I did, this is one of those places that nobody knows about, but is always packed with regulars. It's all about the food and this place is the real deal. We tried both the carne asada and chorizo tacos (both awesome) and split a beef burrito (which was not your assembly line concoction of rice, beef, rice, a raw tortilla and oh and some rice), this was most-likely the best I've ever had. The beef was seasoned really well and cooked, right in front of us, to perfection. Overall, it had a satisfying amount of everything that should make a burrito great and this one is Definitely on the rotation from now on. Such an awesome spot! The staff was extremely friendly and the service was so fast. We came here for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon, it wasn't so packed. Our server made great recommendations. We decided to order chilaquiles with salsa verde. My boyfriend order it with carne asada and I got it with chicken. Both were so good. Ate there earlier today while working in the area based on all you yelpers & your reviews I never normally order something like this but got the fried steak sandwich ( not sure what it's called). It was good . Considering the fact that the steak is thin... It was pretty amazing that it wasn't over cooked . It was yummy. I think next time I'm in the area I'll order something they're better known for such as their tacos etc. Definitely a dive & authentic which I like. (You know.... OMG! Never heard of the place but when the lunch spot I had picked was unexpected closed, I did a Yelp search for 2 mile radius and saw this place with 4.5 stars. Although the outside might be a bit off putting (recommend parking in the strip mall parking lot located next door), the inside was popping! My party had a bit of trouble understanding the menu choices, but we ended up ordering the enchilada de pollo and three tacos de carnitas. Food is sooo good. It looks like a regular diner but it's a tex-mex diner. Not a negative at ALL. Spanish music in background. The staff takes their food seriously not you so don't take it personal. Gotta have some knowledge of food or just ask what the dish is. Wish there was more pics. Like I said the food is so good. Prices are fair. This place is pretty interesting. I think the only Mexican diner I've ever been to. The menu is broken into two main parts. They have a breakfast menu and a everything else menu. We tried a few items from the everything else portion. More specifically, the Carnitas Tacos. For me, they were perfect. My wife wasn't the biggest fan but she doesn't like putting sauce or salsa on tacos, which these kind of need given they are cooked very well done. Sangria wasn't bad either. Nothing spectacular by any means, but it was good for the setting. I will be back! (probably without my wife) Also worth mentioning that our meal was VERY affordable. read more

Seems like a nice place overall. I was looking for a cheap, casual, local breakfast. Cons: my meal included a drink but I wasn't offered one. Everything on the menu is slightly overpriced except the burger with fries (I make my own, so no help there). Somewhat of a language barrier. My Spanish isn't too good. So moved to farmingville Long Island like a year ago.. kept driving up and down left and right passing this place. Looks like a real dive from the outside and inside. So today decided to stop driving by and actually walk in and order. My first impression was like ok see the menu order something that I will usually order and take it from there! Gabino's diner is a full on Mexican diner that you can swing by sit down and have a meal pretty quickly. The prices are low and the service is fast and it's one of those places that you get transported a little back in time, to a simpler time. Music is present but not loud and there's a TV you can watch whatever is on. It's pretty clean everything is there, and everything is cooked right behind the counter so all your food is fresh and prepared immediately. If you get a chance to grab a lunch around here - this isn't a bad place to go since everywhere else is your standard fast food places. read more

We love finding those quirky little out of the way places you'd never think of going to. When we found Gabinos we thought it would be right up our alley, and we were not disappointed. You can easily drive past this little stainless diner on Portion Road and never even notice it was there. We pulled into the dark parking lot and entered this 50's style diner to find it filled with local laborers, we knew it must be good. Spanish soap operas on the TV and lively Mexican music playing through the stereo set the mood for an authentic meal. The half salt half cayenne rimmed chilled beer mug was a nice touch. The waitress was very friendly and explained things in the menu we may not be familiar with and gave us a few suggestions. My wife got the pork filled gorditas (3) and I had the pork torta (sandwich) we have to agree with some of the other reviews, the meat was s little dry but the flavor was spot on. I've eaten several items off the menu - takeout only. I have not been disappointed. I've tried a few different tortas and enjoyed them all. Well seasoned, spicy - but not overly hot, tasty. Many of the sandwiches are similar...like the same basic sandwich with a few different ingredients. Portuguese rolls are a nice touch. My only complaint is that the beef and pork on the sandwiches tends to be slightly overcooked. Not killed and certainly not a deterrent to ever eat her again. read more
