Nice new location nestled in the middle of the Turning Point Commons shopping center just west of the Heritage Diner. Bagels are large with a nice bite on the outside and soft & chewy on the inside. Better than other Strathmore Bagel locations. I passed 3 or 4 other bagel shops to come here but now that I've tried them this location is my favorite. Horrible! "Bake-off" mass produced commercial bagels bought frozen which should be absolutely boycotted in favor of "real" boiled then baked bagels. Tip off is the seeds/flavoring only on one side, usually just the very top and pan marks baked into the underside. And no flavor unless piping hot out of the bake-off racks. Sad, I used to stumble out of the Mad Hatter (Stony Brook) in the 1970s and there was a great Strathmore (the original?) a few doors down already open at 4am. worker wanted to fight me? I was waiting for my order and the guy continued to go to the kitchen blatantly ignoring me after the order was already packed up. then proceeds to be rude at 6:45am....im obviously still waking up confused and asked what the issue was as I don't think I've given you attitude and told me he wouldn't give me my order. I said I've come here multiple times and never had an issue with you as I've seen you maybe even everyday so please remember my face for next time? he then says let's go outside so I can take a picture which I was confused as to why outside or why even a picture? so I said now you want to fight me or something? I just want the food? Until another worker just walks in and hands me the food no problem? Been here a few times, bagels and sandwiches are nice. Went here this morning though and found things are pretty unorganized, lots of product was missing, people were getting called before me and my omelet came out terrible because they didn't add anything to it when it was supposed to come with cheese and a meat, probably was up-charged for the full omelet with the works too when it was just literally an egg in a box. And I don't mean to be the covid police but Reilly or whatever his name is never has his mask on over his face and was licking his fingers and hand before putting his gloves on to make food, pretty gross on a normal day let alone during a pandemic. read more

Had my mother's funeral yesterday and did a catering order with them. Not only did they have the most disgusting presentation and not on platters as ordered, they did not cut the wraps in 1/3s as asked so instead of having 30 wraps we had 20, did not include the veggies wraps, did not platter the side salads, charged me $10.00 for 1 sliced tomato, lettuce, mustard and Mayo, no serving utensils and the list goes on. Beyond horrified that we ran out of food. Jump forward to this morning I called the owner this morning and he had zero interest in listening to what I had to say and discuss how to rectify the situation and all he said was if you weren't happy dispute the charge and hung up on me. Clean! That is something I can rarely say about a bagel place... So I was looking for a new bagel joint, and went here to pick up bagels for the ferry. First thing: Did I mention clean? Gloves on to handle bagels, gloves off to take money! My daughter loved the olive cream cheese! Lots of fresh selections. Boars head cold cut prices comparable to supermarkets. Bagels were very good. A few times I went about 11 am and they were hot out of oven. I have been there about 4 times. There is always a lovely young lady who helps me, and This last time I met Eddie, the proprietor. What a nice gentleman. Clearly they are trying hard to please the customer. It seems like there are a lot of repeat customers because they seem to know everyone who walks in. read more

HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT AND EMPLOYES, I Placed my order they Uber eats , they went ahead and substituted without telling me items because that's what they had, didn't follow the instructions on the note for how the breakfast which was supposed to be made so I couldn't eat it due to allergies, when I called I was told I couldn't get a refund and it was my problem I could come and get a new one, after explaining I'm disabled and couldn't drive hense paying Uber eats for the delivery and fee, I was told they would bring me the order but would be a hour or two that was at 10:30am it's now 7:43pm and I NEVER received the order and they never answered the phone.... There bagels were so fluffy, warm and delicious! Everyone was thrilled to see how amazing they looked! This place is clean and has a nice area to sit down, and the staff is usually exceptionally nice... but that is the best I can say for the place. They are ALWAYS out of sesame bagels... like the last 7 times I was sent here for bagels they had not one sesame bagel. By 10:00 it seems like they are low on a lot of varieties Several times they offered to bake fresh ones if I wanted to wait, which is nice of them, but who has time to wait for that on your way to work in the morning? The bagels here are just ok, if you can get your hands on one, and certainly not worth waiting for. They also only seed one side of their bagels, which is a pet peeve for me. We also tried one of their muffins and it was a bit dry and overcooked. The coffee cake is not too bad. read more

Normal BEC Egg sandwiches are always amazing. Ordered an egg white wrap with spinach and Swiss, they must use that cartoon of prepared egg whites because I bit into my wrap and the watery egg whites, uncooked came pouring out... disgusting. Then decided to try again a few days later and got a wrap with turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato avocado cheddar and mayo- Uber eats says it comes with a side salad and iced tea. I stated in the comments which I wanted and even gave the $5 donation for the restaurant that Uber eats has advertised... thought this would make them see I appreciate hem being open during these times and give my food extra care... nope. Opened the wrap it was turkey American and mayo... they are the ones who have it listed as a turkey BLT in the first place. They need to check their menu on Uber eats and read all orders over before making and bagging. Will not be back. read more

I don't know what has happened to this place in the last couple of months, but it's a royal disappointment. My husband I frequently ordered breakfast sandwiches here and they have become unfavorable. My sandwich is eggs, spinach and tomato. First off they switched the spinach from being fresh to canned/frozen. Who would put canned/frozen spinach on a sandwich? Just gross. I've tossed the sandwich away. After the first time, I thought it was a mistake. However, this is my second and last time. They were better off saying they don't offer spinach. Unfortunately, we will have to look for a new breakfast spot for sandwiches . read more

The best bagels I have had since leaving the city!!!

Really enjoyed my sunflower seed bagel with veggie cream cheese. Service was fast, although I felt a little pressured and rushed when I was looking at the menu deciding what to order. All that put aside I am writing this review in regards to the use of styrofoam plates. I know it's the cheapest option for disposable plates, but it is the worst decision for the environment. I know this bagel place can get very busy, therefore they are using a substantial amount of styrofoam. Please make the switch to paper plates or place the paper wrapped bagel directly on the reusable tray sent out with the in house orders. Paper is biodegradable and will over time disintegrate into soil. Styrofoam can take up to 500 years to break down and pollutes the soil while doing so. It's a small switch that I feel very strongly about. Spend the extra few cents on paper to extend the life of our planet. read more

It's a great bagel place, which there are many of on LI. The place is up to date inside and very clean. Staff is nice and fast but the real reason I am finally writing a review after years is because they have Udi's gluten free bagels now! They are individual packaged from Udi's and delicious. When I went with the hubby I resolved that is wouldn't be able to get anything until I spotted that yellow packaging. If I was celiac I still wouldn't trust a bagel place because there is no way to avoid cross contamination. I appreciate this place having a GF option! read more

I cannot fib - I was less than thrilled to learn that this area would be home to yet another bagel joint. I pass this location daily on the way to work and watched this sleek looking strip mall rise little by little from the dirt it was built on. Strathmore recently opened its doors for business. I stopped in expected to be underwhelmed. I was surprised. It feels much more like a modern coffee bar than a Long Island bagel store. It's clean and inviting. The staff are friendly and the place runs like a well oiled machine. The bagels are nicely prepared, not too doughy - not too crispy. Tasty. Fresh. I tried the lox cream cheese and was surprised that it has small bites of lox in it instead of the typical 'pink' salmon flavored smooth spreads I've grown to expect from other area bagel places. I'm definitely going to add Strathmore Bagels to my bagel store rotation and look forward to my next visit. Another consideration is the $8 minimum for credit or debit cards. Although increasingly more common nowadays at eateries, it's definitely annoying...particularly at a place where a bagel and a cup of coffee does not even total $5. I'll limit my visits to when we grab bagels as a group at work. read more

Been going here for a while, usually with my wife and pretty much get the same thing every time. We usually eat there but with the coronavirus I bring it home and being that my daughter is home I get her a muffin. Went on mother's day and got the usual 2 egg sandwiches, a muffin, coffee and 2 chocolate milks. It took a while but I expected that as it was mother's day. When the girl rang me up I was charged three dollars more than the last time I was there three days before (it was my birthday that is how I remember). I questioned her about it and asked if the price went up and all she did was read me off a couple of prices for the milk and said that she did not charge me for the coffee which comes free with the purchase of an egg sandwich (I know this because I go there a lot). After I got home to find out the muffin was extremely stale as I knocked on the table with it. It echoes. How do you serve it like that. You picked it up you must have felt how hard it was. Needless to say I will be looking elsewhere to give my business to from now on. I understand prices go up but when I asked if they went up all I got was how much the milk was, which tells me they didn't. I am going to try to find a place with good food and consistent prices ( not one that charges what they want depending on the day). It is a shame because I liked the food and one of the guys always asks about my family as we have been there so much. Did not appreciate the attitude I got when I questioned the cost and questioned if I got the same things three days prior. New owner ship! First of all you should know what your going into?
