Recently went as a family of 3. 2 adults and our 8 month old. It was my 2nd time and my partners 1st. The service was very good and friendly. Attentive and mindful. The food was great and our son loved his side order of scrambled eggs. I was able to give him some tomatoes and avocado off my plate as well to round out his meal. We got you a specialty coffees, which are both really good. I got the Avocado BLT eggs Benedict and my partner got the corned beef hash eggs Benedict. Both were very good and large. We ordered the traditional French toast but what came to the table was French toast bites. They weren't bad.. I just think I was in the mood for the traditional French Toast. The waitress offered to take it back and get us the correct order but I said it was fine. We ended up not eating it with the exception of the piece we tired and the waitress took it off our bill without a fuss at all. It's your typical breakfast/brunch vibe, pretty busy but honestly there were a ton of young families and couples with babies! Made us feel like we chose the right place to come. It can be hard sometimes getting out as new parents with a baby. We agreed that we will definitely be back. With the exception of the deafening noise (just normal people enjoying their meals) the food and service were wonderful! We almost left as soon as we sat down because the noise was so disturbing. Price to portion is fine 4. $$$ - $13.75 for pancakes and bacon is high $3.00 additional for three tablespoons of "Vermont Maple Syrup" is a tad over the top. 5. No oatmeal 6. Take a star away for price and another for no oatmeal. If you like more exotic breakfast dishes, then I suggest a visit. One of my favorite brunch places in the Stony Brook area. Love their potatoes and half order of French toast. Seems like they changed their decor--if I remember correctly, it used to have old fashioned hats, and now the theme seems more time-travel related, but still has the old time feel. I came on Saturday, May 24. I'd like to start by saying the food was excellent and our server was absolutely wonderful. He was prompt, attentive, and very polite. However, our experience did not begin on the best note. When we arrived, the front of the restaurant was extremely busy. Two hostesses were clearly overwhelmed assisting guests, while a third seemed to be coming and going from the back without offering help to her coworkers. While I was waiting to be helped, I received a text notifying me that our table was no longer available. I mentioned this to the third host when she reappeared, but she seemed irritated and disappeared again without resolving the issue. Eventually, one of the other hostesses at the podium was able to assist us. She was very apologetic and seated us quickly, which we appreciated. One thing worth mentioning is that the same third host continued to linger in the back area, where she appeared to distract the servers, including ours, with casual conversation even though the restaurant was at full capacity. It was frustrating to see her pulling staff away from their responsibilities during such a busy time. Overall, while the food and table service were both excellent, the front-of-house coordination could definitely be improved. read more

I've heard many good reviews about this place and they did not disappoint. I really enjoyed the breakfast here! I ordered the Viking omelette and it tasted really good. The potatoes it came with were very yummy! They were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside which tasted perfect! The omelette was cooked very nicely and the hollandaise sauce tasted good on top of it. My friends ordered the cinnamon dolce latte and he said it was very sweet! The very hungry man feast very good and filling! I suggest getting that if you are super hungry! It has a lot of protein which would fill you up! Lastly, the pancakes smelled and tasted refreshing! Overall, I enjoyed this place but the service lacked just a little bit. I came on a sunday afternoon and it was busy. The workers were pretty busy with customers so we waited some time to get attended to towards the end of our meal which is understandable. side note: There is some outdoor seating which is pretty nice too! This place is literally called Brownstone's "coffee," and you have to beg for a refill/warm-up. (It's really good coffee too, so you'll want a refill!) The other issue is the seating. I came on a relatively quiet Monday, mid-morning, and all of the customers were jammed into the tables against the wall. I don't mind sitting close to other people when it's a crowded weekend, but please, don't squish people in when there is plenty of room to spread out! I ordered regular coffee with a side of banana fosters pancakes. Service was relatively quick considering the place was filling up on a Thursday. The coffee itself tastes like any diner coffee so expectations were not high. But the banana fosters pancakes were delish! Fluffy, buttery, and large, the quintessential brunch pancakes. The bananas on top gave a bit of sweetness and the caramel sauce gave it a bit of moistness if needed. Just keep in the mind the sauce is caramel rum, so if you go into it thinking it's going to taste like straight up caramel, you'll be disappointed. Today was Halloween, and the staff were all dressed in costume which made for a festive feel. I ordered broccoli and cheese omelette and when it came to me, it was bacon crumble, and cheese. My coffee cup had lipstick on it, but my lips did not. My friend who I was dining with asked for a 2nd cup of coffee, but it was tea. All of these errors were brought to the waiters attention in a constructive way, and he was very receptive. He comped my egg omelette and my coffee, which I wound up giving back to him in a tip.
