I can't tell you how many bagel places I've been to where you need to repeat your order three times (I'm not sure what's so difficult about writing it down) and then they still serve you the wrong thing on a pre-frozen, stale, bagel. Luckily, Better on a Bagel is different. They have hot, fresh bagels and excellent, speedy service. They are fast even when there's a line. The workers are polite, and the owner does everything to make sure you're satisfied. Even when you have a difficult order, like my husband's sesame bagel with lox and a light layer of low fat vegetable cream cheese, tomato and pepper. Some workers even know the order from memory. I should probably give him some credit for saying "have a good day", but then it's discounted by the lack of any genuine meaning behind it The bagel was seriously lacking in the cream cheese department. I'm very picky about my eggs. I get 2 fried eggs (well done), bacon, salt and pepper on a flagel. And the eggs are always perfect. I'm an egg diva, will not eat my eggs if the yolk is even a little bit runny. So many times I get egg sandwiches other places and the eggs are runny, which makes the sandwich inedible for me. Here, it's always exactly the way I like it. I also like that they have flagels here as not every place does. Service is great every time I've been here. The bagels are okay, sometimes a little hard. The only good thing, and the reason I gave this place 3 stars, is when you ask for crispy bacon you actually get crispy bacon. All the workers move at the pace of snails. The place is cash only which is annoying, first time I went in I was lucky I still had some cash in my wallet. Is this really a bagel joint? The bagels taste like your average deli roll. I always get an everything bagel when I go to a bagel place and most places put tons of seeds on them. This place needs to step it up. There's about half the amount of seeds here. I was so excited that they were close by but if you love a good bagel, skip this place. Also, if you get there an hour before they close, it's kind of a guarantee that they'll be out of almost every flavor, except the ones no one generally orders. read more

The breakfast sandwiches, bagels and rolls are all served very fresh. My issue is their Boars Head products in the display case. I worked in two supermarkets where Boars Head products were served and am a Certified Boars Head associate. It is obvious they need to rotate (FIFO) their meats using the 7 day max service date for the meat products. Boars Head Deluxe Ham and Genoa Salami are not supposed to be white/gray in color. Just because the inside may look ok, the outside of the product is what your customers see first. This looks terrible in the display case and if you are selling lunch sandwiches or the products by the pound, you may want to ensure these products are within the "Serve By" date standards. read more
