The Pistachio Cream Croissant was delicious! The prices are reasonable, too. I came at 1:30pm and they were out of a few things, so I look forward to coming back at an earlier time to try more items.

Best ham and cheese croissant I've ever had. Period. I liked the idea of the prosciutto, brie and fig jam pastry more than the execution but it was still pretty good. It's just that the ham and cheese croissant was SO good, I wanted to eat my boyfriend's breakfast more than my own. Coffee was good too.

Cute little bakery with delicious pastries, dessert's, muffins, a variety of sandwiches, quiche, soup, and coffee. Street Parking only. It wasn't very busy the mid-morning we visited. I ordered a Pain au Chocolat, Nutella Cruffin, and a Blackberry Cream Cheese Danish. We had grabbed breakfast at Mas Cafe before heading here, so I didn't get too many items. Had I come on an empty stomach it would have been a different story lol. The pastries were quite delicious and they didn't skimp on the fillings either. Plenty of Nutella and Blackberry/Cream Cheese filling. I like the size of the pastries as well. Fairly priced for the size and generous filling for the items I experienced. I enjoyed the texture of the cruffin. I've heard all about it, but it was my first time sampling a cruffin. The employees were kind upon check out as well. I'd definitely be back on my next visit to SEA so I can try other items on their menu and I would definitely recommend you stop in and judge for yourself.

what an amazing find by the friend who brought us! I'm a huge sucker for coffee, croissants, and crispy sandwiches, all that. This place is heaven! the drinks are delicious, the food is freshly made and there's such a huge selection for whatever palate tickles your fancy that day. The tuna sandwich I got along with the mango pastry made for such a tasty meal. The Matcha latte is also not too sweet, which is the main thing that I get scared of, but everyone was extremely happy with their food and the croissant sandwiches from what I tasted were also gas. We chatted a bit longer and pushed up against their closing time, and I did really appreciate that they didn't start packing up while we were still in the store. i will 200% be back! yum!

Great neighborhood bakery. A lot of options and most were good. The pear croissant and lemon tart were delightful and not too sweet. The matcha strawberry tart was a bit of a miss. Very sweet, the match flavor didn't come thru and had a hint of freezer burn. The strawberry element in the cake was bomb tho. The quiche was . Nothing that is going to knock your socks off but hits the spot when you a morning pick me up.

There are two benchmark pastries I look at whenever I go to a new patisserie - the almond croissant and the kouign amann. At Zary Bakery, they both didn't look that great, with the almond croissant being strangely flat, as if the pastry chef purposefully smashed it down, and the kouign amann sprawling out into a wide disk instead of being more muffin shaped. Just because they look a bit strange doesn't mean they are bad, but I decided instead to purchase some other items that seemed more interesting. Palmier ($5.40) - This palmier is exceptionally fragrant with the smell of butter wafting into the nose with every bite. It has a fantastically flaky crunch factor on the edges, transitioning to a softer and more chewy section on the interior. This is thicker than most palmiers I've seen, resulting in the interior especially being softer, more buttery, and less sweet. Overall, this pastry isn't as sweet as most palmiers I've had. The sugar glaze isn't applied too thickly, so it doesn't help glue the layers together, resulting in an exceptionally flaky dessert that doesn't gum up the teeth while chewing. (4/5) Kentucky Butter Cake ($6.35) - I haven't had this cake before, and doing more research, apparently it comes from Missouri rather than Kentucky? At any rate, this mini bundt cake looked delicious in the pictures and quickly became something we had to pick up on our visit. This is essentially a slightly richer version of a prototypical yellow cake, with vanilla flavoring and some warming spices added for oomph. It's not quite to the density or nearly as buttery as a pound cake, but kind of rests in that area between. The crumb is quite moist and the taste isn't too sweet. I read that there's usually a sugar and butter glaze poured on top, but I don't think they incorporate that aspect here at Zary. (4/5) I also ordered a TGTG bag with day old pastries, which included: French Butter Croissant ($5.25) - The croissant is buttery, decently flaky, and baked until a lighter golden brown, although due to being day old, there's not really any crust to speak of. It has a great honeycomb structure on the interior, making it well risen, light and airy. The croissant would make a great base for a sandwich and is perfectly enjoyable to eat by itself. Caramel S'Mores Croissant ($6.50) - Even though this is labeled as a croissant, it's more of a cruffin based on the shape of the pastry. Chocolate dipped caramel pretzel graces the top, adding a salty and sweet crunch. Inside the pastry is a kind of a cream cheese-like sweet and slightly tangy filling. It's a more substantial and richer version of marshmallow fluff with a more complex flavor than just pure sweetness. M&M and Chocolate Chip Cookie ($3.50) - The cookie is sweet, but not overwhelmingly so, with plenty of chocolate and M&Ms. Since it was day old, it's hardened up a bit, but still easy to eat. I did find a kind of acrid bitter taste in the dough, which reminds me of baking soda. I'm not 100% sure what that flavor is from, but it made the cookie the least enjoyable dessert, at least for me. Of course, it's not fair to rate a bakery based on the day old items, so I will refrain from factoring these into my rating. Overall Zary is a pretty solid bakery. They serve some interesting pastries and the wide variety makes repeat visits easy to foresee.

I've had time and perspective to genuinely review this bakery. This bakery is not only beautiful inside, they produce beautiful and delicious pastries and baked goods. The cinnamon roll was one of the best I've tasted. It's just the right size and perfectly frosted. The flavor of the cinnamon is just right and doesn't taste of mass produced flavorings that many cinnamon rolls taste like. The roll is moist and not one bite was dry. That's how I judge a good pastry; no dry bites! I've also tried a few Kentucky varieties of Kentucky cake. One was on the dry side but the other was moist with a few blueberries. I tasted a hint of cardamom which is different but in a good way. I will definitely keep this bakery on our list of repeat visits. If you are fortunate to be near this bakery, you need to try something delicious fast!! If you're visiting, make this a definite stop!!

All of the food was lovely. Unfortunately my order got missed and I had to ask about it to get it going, so I ended up missing my bus. They did give me a free bakery item as an apology for the communication mishap, which I appreciated. I know these things can happen and they were very apologetic so I would come back, especially for the potato croissant! It's a small but cute spot for bakery and light lunch items, with good natural light and right in front of a bus stop.

I wanted to place a quick pickup order so within the YELP app, I clicked on START ORDER and saw that you can place an order inside the YELP platform. I also saw that the ordering process was powered by Grubhub. Since I wanted to be able to use my own Grubhub account, I used the Grubhub app instead and ordered the following: 1 Almond Croissant $7.10 1 Almond Pear Croissant $7.10 1 Kentucky Butter Cake $7.10 1 Kentucky Butter Cake with Blueberries $7.20 1 Kouign-amann $6.85 2 Kouign-amann $13.70 I went into the store at the estimated pickup time per Grubhub and they didn't know about order. They asked what delivery app I used and I had to tell them I used Grubhub. And then they must have activated something because at that moment, I got a text notification that my Grubhub order has been received and a new pickup time was given. Not smooth but not a biggie. Took the pastries home and found that for my almond pear croissant, they automatically substituted it with Blackberry Cream Cheese Danish and the its packaging had a handwritten note "sorry, out of almond pear." Since I was waiting inside the store, I am puzzled why they weren't able to notify me and perhaps ask me what I would like instead. Other than these issues, the pastries were very tasty. The cafe seemed very cozy and clean.

Easily the best French bakery in the city. I happened upon this place when picking up a bagel order next door, and I am glad I did. Everything looks amazing. Everything is fresh. I took two large boxes away, and every piece has been outstanding. The palmiers are the best we've ever had. Period. Croissants are divine. So are the other classic French items, including savory items. But they also have superb American-style scones, and I LOVE an excellent scone. These are they. And the rare Kentucky Butter Cake. A French/Swiss couple who lived nearby scoffed at me for planning to go next door for bagels. "This is the REAL thing. Those are...bagels." Hey, both places are great, and I am delighted they are next to each other. Worth driving for.

I have been a long-time resident of Ravenna and was sad to hear Sod House Bakery's owner sold the place. BUT, when I stopped by Zary Bakery, I was not in the least bit disappointed. In fact, they exceeded my expectation beyond my imagination. I have traveled all around Europe, lived in France and tried several bakeries here. Aside from Café Besalu in Ballard, which sadly closed, Zary's Bakery is absolutely comparable to the quality of the pastries in France. In particular, I tried their raisin swirl (pain au raisin), and when the bread hit my mouth, I felt like I was transported back to my time in France. The layers, the laminated dough, the crust were whisper soft, tender, yet crispy and crunchy. There was a tinge of sweetness and was not overly sweet, like some pastries. There is no cream filling, which I prefer. Every time I took a bite, I felt like my seratonin level surged. I felt like for a moment I was in heaven. When I talked to the staff, who were personable and friendly, they mentioned they kept one of the bakers (no wonder)! When I go back, I will absolutely give their croissants (true test of how legit they are?) their try! I might revisit this review and update it after I try their croissants. The general vibe feels like more of a café than a coffee shop. There are also more lunch options and more fancy pastry options as well, like a Napolean (mille feuille cream pastry), a mango croissant, etc. Something tells me they're trying to mimic a version of a French café. I will absolutely go back, bring my laptop and work there, while relishing the delicious pastries and the vibe. (I have yet to try their coffee.) read more

We came in at 7:15 with another couple, the morning person got their order wrong, they ordered tiramisu and he gave them something completely different. He wouldn't put it in the box as you ordered but he made sure to ring it In. So when he forgot our peach lemon croissant this morning we definitely still got charged. He also made sure to put our pastries on top of and upside down In the box. Genuinely mad about this. It feels like incompetence and you stole my money, I went straight to the airport and noticed as I'm waiting for my flight. read more

This is a magical little neighborhood place with a great mellow vibe. The coffee is fantastic, but I'm a fan of their London Fog. A classic. My husband declared the almond croissant the best thing he's ever tasted, and let me tell you, the man has tasted a LOT of pastry. They even have some gluten free muffins and cake! A 5 star experience if you're in the 'hood. read more

Came to this bakery because it is by UW. Extremely expensive and overpriced in my opinion. Coffee and pastries looked delicious but didn't try any of it. I got the breakfast burrito and it was not good. It had no sauce and no flavor. It claimed it would come with a spicy sauce but it wasn't in it. I had to go home and drench it in my own hot sauce. Girls behind the counter were nice but hard to understand/ hear. Will probably not come back for food but maybe to try a drink. read more

We drove 10 mins to explore this bakery in Ravenna. I was quite impressed by the selection of pastries displayed and had a hard choice deciding what to get. Everything looked delectable. However, both our pastries goats cheese spinach croissant and chocolate almond croissant were dense and felt stale. The place was very crowded and there wasn't an empty table to sit. Overall service and ambience was great, but the food was disappointing even though it looked amazing. read more

Really sad to see Sod House close, but was thankful that Zary has taken its place. Don't know the details behind the changeover, but they still have our favorite: Kentucky Butter Cakes. We got the last blueberry cardamom butter cake. It as a little less sweet than the Sod House's, but it was PERFECT for us. The Top Tarts are still there too. read more

We drove all the way from Bothell, arriving around noon with my family of three, ready to enjoy our meal. We placed an order, but no one bothered to ask if we were dining in, so everything was packed to go. When we requested the gentleman to heat the food since we wanted to eat there, we were met with an unnecessary wait of nearly 10 minutes. During this time, I watched the shift change, and eventually, I had to ask for our food. To my surprise, a staff member responded dismissively, claiming she had called for us 'plenty of times.' Why reheat food just to let it sit and go cold again? By the time we got it, the food was already cold. When I politely asked for napkins, her response was dripping with attitude, 'They're in the corner.' You're charging nearly $30 for three pastries. That price should come with quality service and respect for your customers. We deserve better than cold food and rude treatment. read more

So we were HUGE fans of SOD and I was very nervous about the new ownership but really impressed that they kept the amazing bakery items SOD was known for and added some beautiful and exciting new ones. I talked to the baristas who luckily are the same - plus the same principal baker and same coffee. I plan to try many of their baked goods over the next few weeks and was really impressed by the breadth of offerings. I read the reviews and it said it was a cozy place, friendly staff and amazing food. A friend and I went at around 10am, it was busy but service was quick. We both got a coffee, croissant, and a quiche. The croissants were great, the coffee was good but my quiche was still cold in the middle and soggy wet in the bottom crust. I thought about taking it back to get reheated but I bit into it and not sure (for sanitary concerns) if they would & the guy didn't seem approachable. When I placed my order & completed my order he was very blah; no response to my "good morning" or when I thanked him. I'm sure the rest of their pastries are amazing and I may come back to give it another try. read more

I ordered online & got a nice phone call within minutes to let me know that they were out of peaches and would pear be an acceptable substitute for one of my items. I love pears so I quickly agreed that it was more than acceptable. My husband picked up the order (they notified me as soon as it was ready). My friends at the potluck I took the croissants and other flaky pastries to were delighted as was I with everything! Thank you Zary Bakery! The pastry I tried was good and earl grey's are decent but the two times I get a sandwich they use the huge loafs of bread that are incredibly thick. The filling to bread ratio is way off and the bread tastes awful. Staff are ok, ambiance its a lil cramped. I try to leave as soon as possible I find it hard to relax there. I'd recommend trying some of their pastries as they're nearby but I would highly recommend this place. read more

Today was the first time I visited Zary Bakery. I am sure that it will be one of the places I hurry to visit when I have time. It had a very nice interior. Everything was very clean, the staff was very friendly. Basically, everything was so delicious. Most importantly, each portion was very large and compact, and the price was very reasonable. read more

We got the bambino and bottega to share, and I also tried some of the gran sasso. The bambino and gran sasso were definitely better to me than the bottega, which was a surprise since I love prosciuitto. The flavor of the mortadella and pistachio was just so good and the pesto was a great complement to the savory thin salami. Their focaccia was also really nice and thick and crispy! I'm glad to have tried, and would definitely recommend sharing with others so you can try a variety!

Interestingly, the meat came in two separate pieces, arranges somewhat like an X or a cross in the middle of the sandwich. This certainly wasn't the eating experience of a typical sandwich with a circular meat patty, and I appreciate the creativity here. The meat was insanely crunchy, oily, and quite plentiful. Each bite felt a bit like you were biting into a crunchy churro, but without the sweetness. I did think the outside of the pork did overpower the inside, though, as I didn't taste the meat or the fat inside much, and due to the amount of breading the pieces ended up being a bit chewy The bun was quite good as well - it was pretty soft, fluffy, and served as a really good bookend to all the ingredients inside. I thought the lettuce and onions also were good. I don't know if I'm a fan of the jelly on the sandwich - but again, I do like the creativity. What did shine here was the aioli, however. In a lot of places, you don't really taste the aioli on a burger - but that flavor was ever-present on this sandwich, and it was really fantastic. The absolute best part of the meal, by far, though, was the biscuit I have to start with how huge this is. This is certainly not the size of a typical Southern-style buttermilk biscuit - rather this biscuit makes no apologies in its effort to stand out from the crowd. Absolutely nobody would mistake this for a traditional biscuit - on the contrary, I think on first glance most people would assume this isn't a biscuit at all. It's shaped more like a massive pastry. I hesitate to say that looks are deceiving, because it does look great, but its taste manages to elevate past that. This was SO good. The edges are baked perfectly - they're oily, crispy, crunchy, and perfectly flaky. All four sides provide an amazing base - like the walls of a fortress that surround the soft, tender interior of the biscuit. You can see the different layers from the outside as well. When it comes to the inside, there was so much to get through but every bite was heavenly. So much credit here goes to the honey butter - which when spread onto the biscuit, raises the taste level of the entire thing. I put so much honey butter on mine that I nearly finished the whole thing. When it came to the jam, it was good, but since it didn't combine great with the honey butter I mostly ended up just using the latter This place was expensive - around 16 dollars for the sandwich and 8 for the biscuit - however, I was quite full at the end

I'm pretty sure the bread was fine, but that isn't why we're here. It's a vessel for fried food. The fries seem to need a bit of work. I think they may have gotten soggy because they came in a to-go box, but the seasoning was fantastic. They also come with whatever sauce you want, and there is a plethora to choose from. The oysters were the main draw for me, and they were totally worth the visit. Old Stove serves them with a savory watermelon sauce in addition to a traditional cocktail sauce--eaten together, it's a flavor explosion that I can't quite describe. We also enjoyed the garlic everything fries, which were delicious! We just had to try a flight to sample the brews. There are some really good beers available here, especially the Belgian blonde, citra pale ale, and the stout. I did not really care for the seasonal sour (grapefruit, I think)--to me, it just tasted like a sour and nothing more, but someone with more interest in sour beers would probably enjoy it just fine. Despite the busy night, our server checked on us regularly and was very personable, stopping to chat with us about the local sports scene. There's plenty to look at, inside and out. If you can snag a seat outside, you'll get to enjoy the waterfront. Inside, the decor is industrial but fun. Not sure if this runs all the time, but when we were there, the tvs were playing vintage beer ads, which was quite fun. They also sell some pretty good t-shirt designs. Overall, Old Stove Brewing is the perfect combo of good location, good food, and good beer. Definitely recommend a visit when in the Pike Place area!

6 stars. This joyous quest started with a simple "Siri, where's the nearest bakery?" I'd just dropped my kid off at a friend's house and wasn't super familiar with the neighborhood, but the sudden urge hit me. [Perhaps I smelled eclairs on the wind. Haven't had a decent eclair since Capitol Hill, back in the SCCC bakery days: 'flash of lightning' is indeed how fast they went back then]. This place "Zary" pops up; never heard of it. It's in Ravenna. [I like third place books, so Ravenna could house a half-okay patisserie, right?] I drive north, then onto 65th, it's hard to see the storefront if you're not going slow and most folks on 65th are rushing by [boy, are they missing out!]. There's even a parking space right in front of the doors. Good start. Immediately upon entering you're faced with the glass case of SO many good pastries [excellent design choice, brava]. The Selection: a rainbow of amazing & nigh-demonically-tempting. Staff: charming & joyful. I stupidly forgot my wallet and had only $20 cash and change. A blueberry & something muffin. [I dug in on that in the car/on the ride home; crumbs everywhere - only regret is not getting them to my tongue - more on those, later], and saved some for home. Next, a tall, big Tiramisu; Putting all restaurant desserts to shame in value, taste, and presentation. Finally, a strawberry éclair. Perfectly baked-firm choux, icing standing tall, strawberries impossibly soft and sweet and fresh. I'm saving half in the box, but I don't think it'll last the hour. Really, truly, my new favorite bakery in my city. SO glad to have found them today! BTW, The muffin crumbs are made of sorcery: each damned crumb is somehow crunchy & moist, with a crust of sugar on it. How? HOW, Zary?!?! Last note: Everything here is quality. This place has great pastries that are delicious. Sandwiches take over 30 minutes to be made so would avoid getting them unless you have an hour to kill and wait for your food. :/ read more
