Sausage roll, scone & cherry chocolate shortbread

Hello! You had me at sausage rolls! We've known about Marenka and La Liatha since her days as a vendor at the Shoreline Farmer's Market and then Queen Anne. During her soft opening, I went two consecutive weekends to pick up the highly anticipated, delicious sausage rolls. I purchased a few to heat up in the air fryer. Everything she makes is magic! Since my last visit, La Liath just has their grand opening. Service is friendly and prompt!

I saw an Instagram post about a tea biscuit assortment from Lá Liath Bakery and noted their presence at opening day of the Shoreline Farmers Market. I was there after the 10am opening (6/3/23), such a crowd on such a pleasant, sunny Saturday! I had the opportunity to meet Marenka Dobes, owner/chef of la Liath Bakery and thankfully there was a tea biscuit assortment available. Lovely, welcoming individual. She crafts her freshly baked goods line from a commercial kitchen in Georgetown. Can't wait when she opens her shop in Wallingford! I managed to hold off two hours before admiring then nibbling through the four types of tea biscuits. As it brought a smile and genuine satisfacation, these are highly recommended at treat for yourself or to share. Makes a terrific gift, just because. Excellent find!

Not eating dessert at a fancy restaurant, but my favorite cupcakes- and they made it by 3 get 3 free at closing! OoI could share my delicious bounty with family and friends. In turn, they had done the same when they were downtown. No more. Last few times it was " maybe 5 minutes before we close", or recently " I have not heard of that. But I have only worked here three days." Please, for the sake of other patrons, get your sh*t together. Your " staff" appears ambivalent, tired, and although on their phones, not wanting to be there. I purchased cupcakes a couple of times anyway, just to support your business as I always have, and to pass into others, hoping to keep you in business. Tough times for so many. At 6:50 pm, I bought full priced crunchy , sitting there all day cup cakes, full price. Had I known they would be bird food, I would not have. Yes. I tossed them to the birds. Expensive treat. You have taken my money, and given me an inferior product once again. Should have known from before. My bad. I don't know why I expected it to be any different from last experience. I guess it was my utmost faith in you, and your product. The thing was, at almost closing there were over 20 cupcakes. No more. You lost me. You lost my business. Sad. Trophy, here I come!

I ordered an extra bacon and cheese sandwich on a toasted English muffin, and it was excellent. The muffin was perfectly toasted, the bacon was crisp and flavorful, and the cheese complemented everything really well. It was simple, fresh, and very satisfying to start the morning. The bakery itself has a very pleasant atmosphere. It feels warm, welcoming, and comfortable, making it a great place to sit down and enjoy a quiet breakfast in the city. To finish, I tried a slice of triple coconut cream pie to go, and it was absolutely heavenly. Rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced, it easily stood out as one of the highlights of the visit and something I won't forget anytime soon. Overall, Dahlia Bakery delivered great food, a relaxing atmosphere, and an outstanding dessert. Since I was only in Seattle briefly for business, I'm not sure when I'll be back, but I'm glad I had the chance to experience it.

Cake descriptions on the website but you have to go in for slice and cupcake availability- you can't pre-order slices. The shop is easy to get to with ample close parking. Inside is cute and industrial. The shop folks were lovely as well, really warm and inviting. We selected 4 slices- malted chocolate, blackout cake, funfetti, and carrot pineapple. All the whole cakes were simply decorated, but beautiful. The hubs said his funfetti cake was okay, but not outstanding. I thought it was more of a white butter cake with nice chewy sprinkles. Delicious, but maybe not the explosion he was expecting. A classic birthday cake, elevated. The blackout cake has a really rich flavor without being overwhelming- a more milk chocolate Matilda cake vibe. The carrot pineapple is pretty much a perfect carrot cake- not spice or nut, but CARROT, in the most beautiful way. The buttercream on the carrot cake is the best I can remember having- butter flavor and a smooth, sweet cream taste. But all those accolades aside- the chocolate malt cake is, simply put, the cake I would go back for. The cake itself is a perfect, moist chocolate malt flavor, without an artificial tasting aftertaste. The frosting is if they made the inside of a malted milk chocolate candy into a light, fluffy buttercream, without the cloying sweetness. I am not a huge sweets person, but cake is a special weakness. This may be the best cakery I've been to- and one I will gladly pay for.
