Today was my first time enjoying Zaytoon. I called ahead because of the pandemic and picked up about a half hour later. My mom and I both got meat plates. I got beef and lamb shawarma and she got the chicken shawarma. First of all, I tasted the chicken and I wouldn't definitely get that next time. It was super flavorful and cooked to perfection. Soooo tender! My meat was good too but it wasn't as seasoned as well as the chicken. I enjoyed the eggplant salad on the side (who knew it was made with ketchup!) and the pita bread was bigger than my head! You can tell the hummus is homemade but mainly It's the rice I have a problem with. I wouldn't say I'm a rice snob...okay...maybe I am. I'm not very good with textures either so the pine nuts in the rice just didn't do it for me. The (what I think to be) golden raisins were a bit too weird for me but I appreciated the peas and carrots mixed in. There had to have been some kind of cinnamon seasoning in the rice as well, it was sweet and savory. I had to mull that over for a while. Verdict: yeah the rice is okay! But as a side note: one plate could easily feed two people. It was nice to have tried both the lamb/beef and chicken but I would definitely just stick to getting the chicken plate and splitting it with my halal food experimenter and partner-in-crime. read more

I don't really do food reviews, but I am inspired to do one for this place. As I'm new in the area, I had some cravings for Mediterranean food. I have tried their Beef Shawarma, which isn't bad, but it lacks the robust flavor I'm looking for. However, l love their Grilled Shrimp, and Beef Kabob. It's exactly what I've been looking for, cooked tender with that distinctly grilled, aromatic flavor, with no sour/bitte taste like in other places; Will be trying their Grilled Salmon next. I also immensely enjoyed their Grape Leaves, which I wrap in Pita Bread with some Hummus. And the best part about this place is their different kinds of Baklava... Buttery, crunchy Filo, with just the right sweetness, and nutty flavors (of Pistachio, Almonds, etc); Unlike the usual Baklava drenched in Sugar syrup. Only thing I don't like is their hours. Supposedly only closed on Mondays, per their website. But still closed when I went on a Tuesday. I guess better to call ahead to make sure they're open, before going there. Ordered take-out late afternoon on a Sunday. For $18 we got 2 shawarmas (beef and falafel) and a large container of tzatziki which was an incredible value. When I went to pick it up the food wasn't ready yet so I had to wait a few minutes. The host who I believe was the owner allowed me to try some fresh items before they were brought out to the buffet. Went to Zatoon which was like 40 mins away from our house. One of our friend recommended us that place We were expecting a nice buffet with options for kebabs and other delicacies. But we were a bit disappointed for the buffet. Some of the food options had authentic Mediterranean flavor to it but some were too salty.. So we thought of ordering some skewers (kebabs & tikkas) for take out since we made such a long drive to get there. And they were absolutely delicious and hence the 4 star The restaurant has a nice homely vibe to it, there was a large family eating there which looked like they knew the owners and were regular customers. Keep in mind that they charge 4% extra if you pay via credit The buffet was definitely not worth the drive but if I am around the area I would definitely stop for some kebabs and $1 baklava read more

They always have a buffet (dinner and lunch) for a flat price of $15. Their salmon is always perfectly done, never dry. The vegetarian dishes are a bit on the sour side (pickled).
