I liked their Clinton hill location, and when I moved near this location, I was glad to see them near. Their not on seamless anymore but I always get the roast chicken and rice, yogurt sauce, and the combo plate with hummus, babaganoush, taboulle, and other stuff with extra pita. This place is a very pleasant surprise in Prospect Heights. First off the portions are HUGE, you will be full and most likely take your food to go. Secondly, the prices are amazing, great bargain and great atmosphere. I got the sampler with 6 different meze and that was beautiful. The babaganouj and hummus are creamy and smooth with the warm pita being a splendid accompaniment. The lamb kofta was cooked just right and the service was amazing. Our waiter was on top of everything and refilled our drinks just as we finished them. His recommendation of the tea was superb and kept us warm on a cold night. Great middle eastern food at a good price. Obviously going to a guy at a cart is going to be a better deal but this is a nice sit down place where you can get some drinks and enjoy the nice setup. Great venue and food! Very affordable and delicious Mediterranean food. The waiter told us we'd have more than enough with the appetizer sampler and an entree. Obviously, we thought we knew our appetite better than him and ordered the sample + an entree each.... and ended up packing 1.5 entree in a doggy bag. Very cute outdoor area. We went there on labor day... needless to say we were the only ones there, so while we cannot speak for what the ambiance is on a normal day, the other reviews confirm it's great on a full night too. Great service (same disclaimer as above) The pita bread is amazing. We got the secret to their hot sauce but it's going to be too tough to recreate. We'll use that as our excuse to go back. We where extremely disappointed with the waitstaff at this restaurant. We ordered a side dish of whole wheat pita bread and falafel to go with our main meal. The waitress after asking us twice would we like our appetizers brought out first served everything together, which was not what we wanted, too add insult to injury after waiting an unusually lengthy time for our meals to begin with! She forgot the side of pita bread and charged us for it too!!! It truly was a shame. It was not our meals that left a bad taste in our mouths but the inexperienced waitstaff. The food and I would have loved to tell friends and family about a new found "Jem" , but I will not take a chance with this waitstaff and possibly embarrass myself. Re: Thursday night meals--the kofta kabob was dry and hard; bizarre looking tabbouleh too. Almost tasted like a different recipe and different cook went out of his way to over mix and grill ground beef to death to get it this tough. I've always ordered the Kibbeh; will stick to that, I guess. This time too, the tabbouleh looked more like whoever assembled it thought it needed more parsley, grabbed the whole pieces used for garnish and tossed it in with the rest of the mixture. Just like another reviewer said, the babaganoush tasted extremely heavy. Also, nothing about the food was all that spectacular, though I did like how the falafel was neither too hard nor too pasty. Overall, though, it was a nice place to go. I really appreciated how kindly and responsive the service was, and I loved the dark woods and overall quietness of the place. oh man oh man oh man i've just gone to this place twice in one wknd. the first time, i ODed and got a chicken pitza, grape leaves, babagounesh, tamarind drink, and pitas. I don't care how this is going to sound, but i've never seen so many grape leaves in an order or so large of a grape leaf roll. Nothing more amazing than good food and a better deal! Tasted yummy the next day too! If i was a poet, I'd create odes for the chicken pitza. It was lemon marinated peppery goodness with scallions, onions, and peppers. Chicken was so tender. The second night I came, I order this and refused to share. The babagounesh was great too but paled in comparison to the pitza and the grape leaves. I have been here twice and the food has been good both times. The service is very prompt and it's a nice cozy space. The first time I went I had some of a pitza and a variety of salads. The salads were great, the pitza was so so. On my second visit, I had the veggie kabob platter, which came with veggies, rice, salad, pita, and baba. The baba wasn't great, I liked the hummus that someone else got much better. However, the veggies were yummy and the salad was nice and fresh. Would go back or order for delivery. read more

Their pizza is surprisingly fantastic. Lentil soup is great on a cold night. I usually get the Lamb Shawarma Platter with a side of felafel and two Pita...it's easily two meals that way...add a little Tabasco and they might be the best two meals of your life. Nothing special. My mujaradrah was soaked in oil. I make mujadrah all the time at home and I grew up on the stuff-- it doesn't need to be soaked in oil. It was rather tasty though.
