Had an exceptional time here with some friends! Excellent drinks, lovely outside space to spend the last portion of the night. The spicy old fashioned was exceptional, and stole the show for the night, no question. The folks seating and serving were so attentive, kind, casual, friendly, etc. Couldn't sing their praises any more. Truly excellent staff. My only star reduction was for the food, which fell a little short for my tastes. Whenever I try a new Thai spot, I get a Pad See Ew, and the thinner rice noodles always fall flat for me as opposed to thick, flavorful noodles I've gotten from other spots. The food my friends got looked very good, but it's just barely holding it back from five stars. TLDR, if you are a big-towel-style-noodle person, get a different dish here. The interior is also a lil meh in comparison to their outdoor seating, so if the weather is right, opt for outside! Overall a fantastic evening. Does anyone know how to get ahold of this restaurant? They never answer the phone. How do you make a reservation? I just called 20 times, and it goes to a mailbox that is full. That's why I gave it a 1 star. It has nothing to do with the food because they won't allow you to eat there. They don't open till 5, then they open and remove the phone from the hook. So when do you call, or how do you make a reservation, or are there no reservations? Do you just show up and Hope? Please help anyone. read more

Food is ok. Lots of sugar in sauce I noticed from being a CrossFit athlete. Portions were small. So called lunch special was 16.00 and asked for chicken skewers. Another 13.00 for 6 ounce of chicken. Lunch was 29.00 and could have gotten twice the food at Panda Express for 1/10 the price. Service was excellent and staff very nice. I won't be coming back except for maybe a cocktail outside. Can't explain why it took us so long to finally get to Zen Bistro. Love the outdoor seating area and bar. Vegan options are plenty and knowledgeable service staff can tweak dish to accommodate you. This resturant is ran by a bunch of young people that aren't that friendly. Two stars off for the service. I am a sauce girl so I loved the pad Thai noodles. The appetizer we ordered was plain Jane it was the fresh rolls that didn't have much flavor and I was not a fan of the peanut sauce it came with. My sister ordered the curry chicken and enjoyed it. Although, my mom ordered the same meal and hers was extremely spicy for some reason. Overall, it was an okay experience. Probably wont go back considering the service and prices. read more

We had the shrimp boat appetizer and the spring rolls and both were delicious. Then we ordered the Pad Thai with shrimp and the Spicy Noodles with Chicken. Both were excellent. We left no left overs! TIP: SAVE ROOM FOR DESSERT!! I visited this restaurant for dinner last Tuesday night with my friend and her mom. This place is spectacular and the name really fits. I love the entrance, the pagoda arch, the bamboo trees, the lattice over the outdoor patio, the fountain, everything. It's a little escape away from the hustle and bustle of Daytona. It's tucked on Magnolia between Palmetto and US1. The staff is all super friendly and accommodating (we started to sit outside and it began to rain so we asked to be moved inside and it was not a problem at all). The food. I can go on for days about the food. Everything is clearly made with fresh ingredients and it is authentic cuisine. You can also taste the love and passion that goes into cooking the food to make sure we fully experience the culture in every bite. It's clear the chef cares about the food being prepared and served. We ordered the chicken satay and Thai spring rolls to start. Chicken satay was the first Thai item I ever had back in high school and the dish brought me back to that time. The chicken was thin, tender and well seasoned and the peanut sauce was everything. The Thai rolls were scrumptious with crispy flaky outside and the sauce was just sweet enough to compliment the savory center. I ordered the Pad See Ew with chicken as this is my go to Thai dish to eat when comparing restaurants. This is by far my favorite Thai food over anything I have had before. The noodles were the right texture and the sauce absorbed into them without making them soggy. The chicken was tender and the veggies had a nice crispness to them while remaining tender. I devoured every bite. My friend and her mother got the pad thai (one mild and one medium). They both enjoyed the dish and my friend said the medium was just enough spice but next time she will order it hot since she likes the dish spicy. We also got to taste the cucumber salad and coconut soup. I am so making that salad for myself at home. Crisp, light and refreshing. I love the simple dressing and the crunchy peanuts on top. I always thought coconut soup was spicy since it's often a curry dish but this was fantastic. Sweet and savory with onions, mushroom and chicken and the broth was a great consistency. We absolutely had to have dessert once the waiter described the Thai Tea ice cream pie. It's Thai tea flavored ice cream (made from scratch with real ingredients at Neighbors in Port Orange) on a chocolate cookie crust with ribbons of condensed milk and white chocolate chips throughout the ice cream. Ummm, hell yes, yes please, all day!! Thai tea is usually super sweet and I can only drink a little bit, but the consistency of the ice cream was so rich and creamy and it cut the sweetness of the drink. If anything, order dessert first so you don't miss out. We had an incredible dining experience from beginning to end and the portions were such that we were able to order apps, dinner, sides and dessert. It's a hearty helping of the food but it's not so much that you can't enjoy it or get stuffed quickly. I highly recommend this place. You won't be disappointed. So much love to the family that owns this spot. They really did a fantastic job sharing the Thai culture with Daytona. read more

The place is excellent for Thai cuisine with a slight modern touch. But the dishes here and amazing. Be careful with spicy ness as Thai hot is really spicy. The papaya salad is very good and their curries are great. They some times have coconut moscato which is a must try, pairs well with the stir fried noodles or Phadtai. The friend banana with ice cream is great and some time they will have coconut rice with mango (many people crave) but I am not a big fan of it. I got the Duck here which was crispy and had a great flavor. But it's a bit pricey than the other meets ($9 more) read more

The entire visit was wonderful other than the cockroach that I killed crossing the floor slowly by our table. Likely dying and in Florida not a surprising find but still off putting at a restaurant. The calamari was lightly breaded and came with a very nice sauce to dip in. My wife and I both had curry dishes that were flavorful but not over the top. I always get my curry Thai hot and this as well was well presented again not over the top either. The atmosphere outside is wonderful and next time we will try sitting outside. read more

I am taking time to record my experience. When I have a great experience I become the greatest fan of the organization. When I have a bad experience because of those that did wrong by me, I also tell the world. I will never step in this institution again. Because of the way I was disrespected by the waitress and then her manager, who was worse than the waitress, I thought I was back in the state of California dealing with entitled, disrespectful punks. Shortly after the manager came out to talk to me, I completely understood why the waitress had the attitude she had. She was a reflection of her boss. I asked the manager to talk to his boss. He told me I could not, but was free to leave a review and complaint online.I was excited to go to this restaurant with my wife for my birthday. I regret I ever stepped foot in this place. If the team I interacted with stays in place, I seriously doubt this restautant will survive. So, for what is worth, I recommend you stay away from this place and go somewhere else to enjoy a meal. read more

I've gone from loving this little gem to not impressed. Recently my husband and I went out to dinner. We got early to Zen Bistro. 5pm is opening and we breezed in at 5:30pm. We requested an order of French roast coffee and we were almost near discouraged from doing so. The waitress told us it would take 10 minutes for that to brew up. We are aware as we've been here before. The meal was simple as we both got the same items. Each a salad as an appetizer and the vegetable dish with extra veggies and brown rice. They served up one salad and found they needed a second. Ok mistakes happen. The wait for the main meal was a bit long. We then got it handed over. The rice was cold and the meal with extra veggies was not so extra. The taste of this meal was overwhelming and not in a good way. Too much soy or salt or something. This truly, wasn't the same resturaunt 5 months ago. Nothing was as great as our last visits to this restaurant. The food was horrible. You really can't mess up a salad and that was decent. Unfortunately for them we won't return. I guess we will go back to our previous choice of dinning. Makes me kind of sad. But I work to hard for my money to toss it away eating here. read more

The dish balanced all the ingredients in perfect harmony creating a flavor bomb! The soup was fantastic the one with coconut broth and the other one with shrimp and vegetables and mild was enough spice for me. The food here is mediocre, the only good traditional one is the Thai style coconut broth soup, but the lemongrass is missing in the soup. The basil vegi chicken meat is very dry and fried basil leaves are grassy, indicating no fresh basil leaves used. The Pad Thai is disappointing, the standard dish is with scrambled eggs in this dish, however, a $20 Pad Thai only has rice noodles with garnishes of some cabbage, peanuts. I have Pad Thai from Thai restaurants across the U.S. no one has served the Pad Thai without eggs. The service young ladies are good and attentive. read more

2 Stars for what was unfortunately pretty below average Thai food. Caveat- this was takeout. Takeout was ready in 15 minutes, which was great. We ordered the fresh rolls (summer rolls with tofu), beef massaman curry, and chicken satay. My first disappointment were the fresh rolls. They were mostly rice paper (very thick) and clear noodles. I noticed very little lettuce and most upsetting- the tofu was incredibly unpleasant. It looked like it hadn't been drained properly, and the texture was really off. Each roll had one piece of basil, but nothing to add any texture or flavor. The only flavor came from dipping it into the peanut sauce. As a note to folks who aren't into spice- The peanut sauce was speckled with peppers and had a real kick. I love a good summer roll, but this was pretty weak... I had a few bites and moved on to the satay. It was breaded with yellow curry and skewered in rectangles. I know that takeout doesn't always hold up well, but the satay was extremely dry. It was hard to bite into them and pull pieces off. Once again- a disappointment. On the plus side, the Massaman was pretty tasty. I appreciated that they let me know that even the mildest version had some spice (and it did). It was pretty run of the mill, but I likes that they let you choose your tofu fried or steamed. (One recommendation- fewer peanuts! I had a mountain of peanuts in the side of my plate.) I hate leaving a 2 star review but 3 stars would be average and it just wasn't there. read more

Great atmosphere and great food. The restaurant is tucked off the crazy main road of Ridgewood but it's super nice once you walk in. There's a ambiance outside that is garden like and inside is very Thai looking. They did great w the covid regulations and I felt very comfortable. The server, Jenny was so so sweet! I'd ask for her Bc she was helpful and very accommodating. We started with the fresh rolls ... yummy and full of flavor! I then got the garlic sauté with white rice. My mother got the green curry. The best Pad Thai in Volusia county, I have tried many restaurant's Pad Thai and no one comes close to the flavor that Zen Bistro has, they have perfected it. Not even PF Chang's Pad Thai is as yummy as ZB's. PF Chang's is bland compared to ZB's! Don't waste your money going any place else for Pad Thai, it is #1.
