Absolutely do NOT recommend this place!! I called for a gel manicure and was quoted a price of $37.00. I let them know that I get powder gel manicure. When I went to the register to pay, he said I owed $50.00, not the $37 I was told. He said the powder was more. I explained that I normally pay $38 where I live, and he smirked and said "We are more expensive.". A $2.00 "Check out fee" was also added to my bill. I let him know that it was wrong and unprofessional to not have let me know the difference in the price before doing the manicure. I will never step foot in this place again. P.S. they don't sanitize their tools or use new tools between clients. the file they used for my pedicure looked years old - discolored and gray and clearly used hundreds of times. the equipment was left on a towel on the floor. they also let someone inside to try to sell things to customers to get cash. employees are nice but overall not a professional environment. read more

Avoid by all means! Had a Shellac Manicure ($35) done last Wednesday. 2 days later one nail started to chip. So I went back to have it fixed. They nearly refused to do it and told me in a rude manner that my nail cracked, so it is my fault. They rolled eyes and laughed about me in their language. When they finally noticed that my nail was fine but the shellac done unprofessional, they unwillingly mended it. Today (a week since it had been done) already 3 nails are a mess. Never experienced so bad quality (Shellac should last at least 2 weeks) and unfriendly and inappropriate staff. There are so many other places in the area with better service and even better offers. If you have a big group go some where else! Made an appointment for nine prior to my sons wedding. The woman (Kim) took my appointment, she assured me nine would be no problem. "I'll bring in people from my other salon, everyone will be fine." We arrive no other people were brought in. The ones there were unable to finish all of our parties nails. Out of nine ladies only one got her mani and pedi, one pedi on another, four left, two left half done. As the Mother of the Groom, had wanted a mani and pedi. I had my toes started, no polish ever out on. The owner/manager Kim, lied and actually laughed as she left that salon. I've never had an experience like this. My husband and I went here to get pedicures. The lady was very nice and said it would be $25 each which was fine. After we got in the chairs an older man and woman who didn't understand English came from the back room to do our pedicures. The man did okay on mine but the woman who did my husbands was very rude and seemed angry about something and took it out on my husbands feet. She butchered his toe nails and he had cuts on most of his toes. Terrible job that I am sorry we paid her for it. The man had motioned rubbing lotion on my legs and I said okay. Turns out that made it a deluxe pedicure and the charge was $40. Will never go there again. There are enough other places to go and get good service. read more

So I read a lot of the reviews on this place and almost decided not to come here. And that would have been a real shame. I'm here from out of town and I have a wedding this evening and was in a bit of a pinch. I didn't want to venture too far from my hotel up the road and so I decided to give it a try anyway. I am sitting getting my spa pedi now with a gentleman named Tom who works here and WHAT A GEM!! He has already done my mani and did an unbelievable job!! I am a total perfectionist (my manicurist at home says I'm bossy lol) and I have NOTHING to say. He did an amazing job. He is also funny and very personable which is rare in manicurists especially the men who do this. My experience here could not have been worse. The staff was completely unprofessional and inappropriate. The gentleman who was my nail tech got visibly agitated and refused to finish my manicure because I asked him if he could clean up the cuticles a bit more. Some nails salons do not cut cuticles, but that's all he had to say. Instead, he left my other hand soaking in water and got up saying he wasn't going to finish because I wouldn't be happy if I wanted the cuticles cleaned. Save your time-- There are plenty of places on the island who would never treat a customer with that level of disrespect, take your business there. read more

Our pedicures turned out okay, but the technician was so rough with my mother-in-law's feet that she ended up with a painful gash on the side of her foot that left her wearing a band-aid for several days...not a great way to start our vacation. read more

Great little nail spa in AMI. I went in for a gel manicure. The nail tech was efficient and didn't talk my ear off so I appreciated that. My nails look great after the manicure. The manicure chair was a little work and uncomfortable for sitting for an hour. Their gel manicure colors are also limited, about 35-40 total. read more

I first went there to get gel nails removed. A lot of distractions for the 2 employees there. Not all gel was removed, used nail drill to partially remove. I was told they would just be soaked off. I went back for a pedicure with my mother in law since I needed to kill some time before picking up my son from school, neither of us were excited. I got a regular pedicure and I got her an upgraded pedi. She wanted the extra massaging and yet she was done before me. The girl was a bit rough with the cuticle cutter. I picked out my nail color and not sure what happened to it after I gave it to the girl but she started using the wrong color (usually not a big deal-but this was ugly). I let her know that's not the color I picked out, she was annoyed that I did not want her to continue with that color. I wanted a bright/hot pink-she came back with neither bright nor hot but whatever, I picked from the 2 colors she brought over. And again she started to use the wrong color-I left it alone this time as I just wanted to be done. Both ladies kept getting up to do something else/ going in the back. Way to many interruptions. Pedicure was decent but would not go back. A woman who got her nails done 2 days before came in to get them redone because the gel was peeling-just an observation while we were sitting there. I'm quite particular with my nails as I'm a licensed Nail Technician myself. With that said, I like to get pedicures without spending a fortune as well. They do a good job. It's nothing fancy. But it's thorough and I've had two since I've moved here and been satisfied. I watched them clean and I felt very comfortable with receiving my service. Tina the owner is a hard worker as all the employees are. I've worked in busy Vietnamese owned shops too in my old home on Indianapolis, trust me, they're working as fast and hard as they can with also trying to do a good job as well. Just saying to the people who get huffy waiting. . Maria is sweet, Kevin and I think it was Tony are both kind as well and funny too. It says spa out front. Don't expect to be in a "spa" type atmosphere really though (even though it's pleasantly decorated for a nail shop) as one princess I had the displeasure of sitting next to once did. It's a nail shop. It's nice, affordable and is what it is. As far as the comment about the limited gel options. The new owner(s) have changed that. They have a lot in my opinion. I'm also pretty easy to please as I've gotten older too I guess. So to make a long drawn out story short, I think they do a great job especially for the price. I would highly recommend having TINA do your nails! I would give her 5 stars! However, there are other things that Zen needs to improve upon. 1) I waited for 40 minutes before anyone had time for me....and yes, I had an appointment! 2) As I sat waiting for 'my turn' I overheard MANY disgruntled customers. One even came over to me as I waited and said, "Run! Don't stay here!" 3) It seems very disorganized. 4) Even though people were waiting, the owner/manager (Kim) disappeared. I brought my almost 5 yr old daughter here to get pedicures. She hasn't had one and I needed one for a wedding this weekend. We are from KS and told her we could swim here but it has been so cold so I thought this could be a fun thing for her. She only got her toes painted. We walked in for our appointment and they seemed puzzled that she was the 2nd person. Told us to get our colors. I could tell they were discussing it amongst themselves. We went to sit down and after sitting the employee doing mine laughed and looked to a co-worker and said "only in America". I brushed it off, then an elderly lady looked at my daughter and asked me "she is getting one? At her age?" I said yes we are on vacation trying to have some fun. I was steaming but I'm not one to make a scene. Another employee came out later and joked with the lady painting my daughters nails and said "I bet this will be your youngest appt today" and they all laughed. I felt so chastised and embarrassed by the employees and a patron. I couldn't believe they treated me like this and ruined this experience. i was thrilled to find out that zen did the powder/dip manicure as many salons still don't...and since i live a block away i was able to take the appointment. tom and veronica were wonderful...friendly, fun, and their work was outstanding. too bad about the "nay-sayers" on this site...sometimes people come in expecting the too much? spa was clean...staff was wonderful.....oh and p.s.....i stopped doing gel manicures because they did not do well on my nails....i switched to powder/dip and now can go up to 3 weeks easily between manicures. read more

I received a terrible manicure here. I asked for a gel french manicure, and after over 1 1/2 hours walked away with the worst manicure ever. My nails were filed badly. The tip of the nail was painted on so poorly and the finish was dull. It was really unbelievable. I don't understand how they're even in business. I actually asked, half way through my manicure, if the person doing my nails was licensed because he was so inept. Don't go to Zen if you want a professional and beautiful manicure. read more
