Came here because I saw a Groupon for a keratin hair treatment with a haircut deal that I bought and made an appointment with them. Appointment was pretty easy and smooth to make online. When I got there, the guy who worked there said I have to pay an extra $30 because of my hair length. I don't think my hair was that long but oh wells I could not do anything about it because I thought the Groupon deal already. The guy said it goes from $20 to $60 so I got another charge of $30 more. They washed my hair and sat me in a chair. They put 2 robes over me for the treatment. Had to wear face masks for the treatment because of the strong smell. It kind of burned my scalp at times when the keratin process was going on. Afterwards, the guy cut 4 fingers worth of hair and it looked really nice. It was layered and very short for the summer so my hair is not weighing me down. He was also nice too by offering me a cup of cold water for me to drink. read more

I waited until my 3 day wait ended to wash my hair to affirm the success of my keratin treatment. And just to be completely sure, I have washed my hair a couple more times (with sulfate-free shampoo) and remain completely satisfied with the result. I have wild coarse hair that is down to my butt so I was prepared to pay extra above the reasonable Groupon voucher price. I must contradict the negative reviewers. My hair is now manageable without any styling whatsoever. I just wash it and let it air dry. And it dries quickly and feels soft. As far as the haircut goes, the stylist listened to my request 100% and only cut off about one inch where it was getting scraggly. All in all, it was a positive experience. The staff is Chinese and everyone was pleasant. As a matter of fact they enjoyed my feeble attempts to speak Mandarin and did not make fun of me. read more

Unfortunately pretty disappointed with the service I received here. I bought a Groupon for haircut and keratin after reading the reviews that seemed not bad. Right away they let me know they had to charge me an extra $40 for my hair length...first of all, they're cutting it, so that seemed odd to judge right away and second of all, I've been getting treatments done on and off for years and have never been charged more than $25 when my hair was at it's longest. So that was off putting because already the price was significantly higher than what I expected. The service seemed great at first - they were very attentive and my only complaint was that my stylists nails were so long that I had to ask him to stop scratching my scalp as he washed it. Anyone who works with hair should know how bad it is for nails to be used on the scalp, which is why they sell all those shampoo brushes and whatnot. They then explained the products they'd be using, but it was one I had never heard of so I wasn't sure what to think. Once the treatment finished (again, very attentive, offering snacks and drinks and checking on me regularly), they asked about my haircut. I explained I wanted no more than an inch just to touch it up as I'm trying to grow it out. My bangs that I was growing out were a big raggedy in the front, but I still asked for no more than an inch. All of a sudden I look and my "bangs" that were about 2-3 inches below my chin before the cut were at my chin. I start freaking out as at this length it's barely long enough to put behind my ears, much less in a ponytail and I've been waiting for SO long for these to grow out. I was visibly upset and the stylist got his manager, but at this point we all knew there was nothing to be done - you can't put tht back. What I didn't like is that they kept insisting it was only an inch. However, as I argued and later noticed proof on my lap in the form of a VERY LONG chunk of hair, he cut way more than an inch. I was so upset and honestly still hate how it looks/how it's growing out a month later. Regarding the keratin itself, it took about 2 weeks (including the almost 1 week that I didn't wash it) for it to look like nothing had happened. My hair felt somewhat softer, but other than that, not smoother or less frizzy in any way. If something good can come out of my experience at this salon, it's this review so that no other person has to go through what my hair has gone through here. The pictures say it all - do not come to this salon. Period. I have naturally dirty-blonde hair and came in for blonde highlights to refresh my roots. What I got was something entirely else - I was shocked at how blonde and one-dimensional it was. It didn't look like highlights, it looked like I had box-dyed my natural looking hair. I expressed this to Neil, the person who did the highlights, and he said I could come back and he could darken it / tone the color down, which I really appreciated. What resulted was even worse - hair that is spotted, uneven, and splotchy. Neil explained to me that the darker color must have dripped into the other strands of hair, and tried to fix a few strands, but after a certain point seemed to have made it even worse and gave up. He apologized to me, and said that dark color shouldn't be added to light color like this. I emailed the owner of the salon would reimburse me so that I could, at the very least, use the money I paid through Groupon to get it fixed by a professional - they refused, and on top of that said "I am sorry that you are not satisfied with your highlights, but we have not made any mistakes." read more

Here I stand...a head full of shame. I am a balancing act of aggravation and coward. Too weak to stand up for myself when I know for a fact the result was a fun house mirror image of what I had actually requested. ...Pictures attached if you don't believe me. Here's how it went down: Found them on Groupon (i know...my first mistake) and called them up. I even begged receptionist to please book me with a gifted hair dresser, as I am to get bangs -- and has any female that has undergone the bang transformation knows that cutting them could go from Penelope Cruz to 3yr-old-with-scissors, real quick. What sucks the most is that the process started out okay. They gave me tea, chocolate and a fantastic head massage during the scrubbing - what any lady needs in a salon. Then with a snip, it all turned sour. All the positive energy in the room was sucked out like a Hoover vacuum on Christmas. Everyone in there must have taken notice because I blinked and three hairdressers appeared in the mirror. A tennis match of Mandarin Chinese erupted in angry whispers behind me. Finally the woman receptionist spoke to me. Though she agreed that the bangs were sliced too short ("sorry bout that,") she began swearing up and down that the color is "actually perfect." And that "it's just the lighting in the room that makes it look different." (Which, if the lighting is so bad in the salon, why the F*CK are you doing hair in it?!) She then leads me to the bathroom and promises "the light is better in here!" ...she kept nodding and repeating herself until I was forced to agree with her. (My second mistake.) Like obviously 99% of the places me and my hair stroll into aren't going to match the lighting in your salon bathroom... Like I said above, the pictures are attached, so I don't need to go into more detail. But here's where it gets real annoying: they begin arguing with me! "I told you to go with longer bangs..." as if that makes up for the fact he cut them too short. "The lighting is bad in here, I promise, your hair looks just like the picture. It's perfect!" ...This goes on for another 20 minutes, and by that point I had been there for 4 hours & wanted to just get home. But now it's time to pay. The price was the same, which I was shocked considering they all agreed the haircut was incorrect and also knew how unhappy I was about the color. Now, I'm sure we've all been there, too afraid to stand up for yourself at the salon even though you know they screwed up. Such a coward I am, hating myself even more every time I look in the mirror knowing that I was suckered into paying for such a travesty. The worst part? I ask her "do you think with everything that went on today that this price should stay the same?" She gives me some BS excuse that the prices are "locked in the system" can not be adjusted because of the promotion. But what she CAN do is pencil me in to come back in two weeks to even out my bangs, for free! ....as if that goes without saying. Now I'm sitting here like, "great, now I have to waste another Sunday shlepping from the UES to get my hair fixed, but it's all good because you'll fix the mistake that YOU CREATED, for free. Instead of discounting me for the headache all this has caused and hair that looks nothing like what I asked for. Swell, just swell...fml. I tried calling them today to fix this and now, miraculously, I can't get through. I will wait patiently for them to call me and fix this. I had a good experience here. Sherman was my stylist, and he was really great. Very kind, friendly, and tried to give me a great experience. He has good customer service. I got a Japanese deep conditioning treatment and a haircut with style. Groupon price for all that was $58, but at the salon, $10 was added because I have long hair. Plus $4 for tax. Total= $72 total before tip, which is pretty decent for NYC. The male hairstylists here seem nice and considerate to customers. They offer you tea, magazines, water, coffee, or snacks. The woman next to me was drinking glasses of Prosecco. In the end, I was given take-home conditioning treatment to keep it silky and Holiday told me I could call for another appointment later on and get a discount for services in the future. Great! The Japanese Hair Treatment: It was a four-step treatment which took almost an hour. Afterward, I do feel a difference in my hair health and texture. It is smoother and softer. It feels more slippery and does not get as frizzy/tangled. For reference, my hair is not naturally really dry, but because it is winter I wanted a moisture boost. I would do this again in the winter! Sherman wanted me to post a picture of the treatment so people can see it. The haircut: I got what I wanted! Sherman took off two inches and gave me gentle layers/tapering at the end. It looks nice and classy. The experience: Small salon in LES. Modern inside and pretty clean. I'm pretty positive the stylists were speaking to each other in Chinese because I could understand some of it. They were just chit-chatting. Totally fine. The only thing that made me uncomfortable was arguing between another customer and the manager about additional charges. I think it was resolved, but that was strange/uncomfortable. Do not go here and do not buy a Groupn deal for this hair salon. I bought a groupon for 150 (USD) for a full head of highlights and haircut. The hair stylist absolutely destroyed my hair by leaving two horizontal bleached lines at the top of my hair where I part it (I have uploaded photos in previous post). The hair salon have not taken ownership over this at all and keep referring me to Groupon to get a refund. I found Groupon to also be very hard to get in contact with. I have asked them as the merchant to contact Groupon to admit their fault and assist me in getting a refund however they will not do so. I have also asked to speak to the manager who is conveniently in China for 3 months and has not replied to the email I have sent. COVID update: VERY clean and the entire staff was diligent about keeping their hands clean and wearing masks. I went here yesterday for partial highlights and a trim. I haven't had my hair died in about 3 months, and it was done by a different salon. My stylist was very patient, walked me through multiple highlight techniques they could use to best blend my old highlights with the new. They were attentive, and really took their time with the foils. Honestly, these are the best highlights I've ever had and I left being more knowledgeable about my hair. The trim & wash was great too, even cut and they did a really nice job framing my face with the front layers I requested. I came in very clear asking for light warm high lights. I shed for it to be super bright, warm and light. they over bleached my roots and then put a dark ash colored tinder on it. I stopped them several times during the process to tell them I didn't think what they were doing was going to result in what I wanted. unfortunately that came true. Absolutely ruined my hair. I got an incredible asymmetrical lob by Sherman -- literally the best haircut of my life. When I returned to get THE SAME HAIRCUT, I ended up with a BEVELED SHORT BOB. Horrific. The receptionist blamed me for the cut repeatedly and refused to fix it or give me a refund. I purchased a Groupon deal for a Keratin treatment & haircut. They charged $30 additional for the length and volume of my hair, which I expected. When I arrived at the salon, the staff were friendly and gave me clear explanation about the brands they use and what they recommend for after-care. The whole experience was mostly pleasant, but it's the outcome of my hair that I'm very disappointed with. I've gotten keratin treatments in the past to know what to expect after the process. I explained to the stylist that I bleached my hair about 5-6 months ago. The stylists did not fail to remind me numerous times how "so dry and too long" my hair was. During the flat ironing process, I noticed the heat was extra strong and smelled like my hair was burning. As a professional stylist, I assumed they would make the decision to use less heat on hair that's been processed, which also was "so dry" as the stylist kept mentioning. After I left the salon, I took a closer look at the tips of my hair and a chunk was completely burnt and frizzy. This is AFTER cutting 4 inches off. Before this keratin process, my hair was in okay condition even for bleached hair. It was never burnt/frizzy, only dry with split ends. I was upset but decided to wait the first 48 hours without getting it wet in hopes that something would change. I waited over 48 hours and after my first wash at home, it revealed that the entire bottom part of my hair was frizzy- not just one section. The point of getting the keratin was to smooth out my dry and somewhat wavy hair, but it left me with frizzy, burnt hair. I contacted the salon asking for a resolution and the only option is to cut my hair shorter. I most definitely wanted to avoid losing length, but it seems to be my only option since you can't revive dead hair. However, I won't be going back here. Also, I asked the receptionist what the recommended tip amount is and she quoted me "20% of $400" and pressured me to leave a big tip for the stylist. *Basically, friendly staff and good environment, but poor job done.* EDIT: I just read the reply to this review which was so unprofessional. The woman receptionist told me "for your hair you should leave 20% of $400". I wouldn't lie about that. I actually worked as a receptionist at a salon so I understand how gratuity works and its importance. Second, I know keratin doesn't undo damage. My hair was bleached only twice before in different segments. I've done keratin at other salons with bleached hair and it never made my hair worse. My hair was NOT frizzy or burnt before the trim, which was 4 inches off. So instead of trying to blame me for having "dry and long" hair, maybe consider a less heat approach to previously processed hair. read more

They were incredibly friendly--constantly offering me beverages, snacks, etc and making sure I was okay while also keeping such an incredible attention to detail on my hair. My hair was a hot mess when I arrived and they fixed that. It was even raining when I left and I had no umbrella, so they helped cover me in plastic to assure my keratin would not be ruined. But, they're too rough with my hair, I was in pain the entire time they were combing and doing the whole keratin process (I've gotten keratin done before). The stylist that was putting the process on my hair was dripping sweat, wiping it with his gloves, and then touching my hair..very gross. I booked an appointment after purchasing a treatment on Living Social, the guy asked for my Living Social voucher code and put it in their system. When I walked into the salon for my appointment, the lady at the front desk didn't let me speak and signaled for me to sit down because she was picking up a phone call. Another customer walked in two minutes after and receptionist very nicely assisted her and arranged her with a stylist. Then when she got to me, she said they were very busy...but which salon isn't busy on a Saturday afternoon. After the whole hair session, the receptionist told me I bought a different type of treatment than the appointment I booked. I ended up paying $128 for a "keratin treatment" when I was looking to do a "deep conditioning treatment for $56. Starting with Groupon allowed me to sort through the options and find a decent deal. After reading fellow Yelp reviews, I decided to give Zeno a shot. I am so glad I did. I came into the salon for a full highlight. I have a TON of hair, so it is always a bit daunting. I was so impressed with the service I received. At one point, both stylists were weaving my hair to make sure i got out of there at a decent hour. The highlight took a little longer than normal because Leo was SO precise and detailed. Overall a great salon. Seen them on Pulsd, a deal for $29 for a haircut and blow out. Trying to make the appt was a bit hard via email but made an appt for a morning time. They was one other customer which was cool because she was far away. Staff is very friendly and inform you about everything what they are using to what style is best for you.
