Formally Becketts (more of an irish themed menu/pub), this place has been remodeled all together and looks realxed and inviting. Nestled back in a strip-mall, you would think different, but upon entering the foyer and the double big doors changes everything. Rich warm colors and dark woods, nice usage of large space, a huge long oval bar. Menu has a wide array of choices and everything I saw walk by our table looked well presented and just another thing I wanted a taste of. We went there for lunch so I could get my hands on a cuban sandwich (since they are so hard to find in CR) and a bloody mary (since I always have to try one where ever I go new). The cuban came on a pretzel bread/bun (sweet, soft, nice) and had more of the "gourmet" twist to the cuban. It was good, but I guess I am just used to that more "authentic" street cuban panini style I crave in FL and the Keys. The fries were good, the cole slaw was good (not all mayo) and the Book Master (something like that it was callled--a thick sliced steak sandwich with an awesome sauce) was very good as well. The bloody mary's were average, good, but not a 'wow factor'. Would I go here again, absolutely. There are many more things that caught my eye on the menu I had to try. In Cedar Rapids for business and it was decided that the group would go down to Zeppelin's for dinner. We got there early enough to find out it was 2 for 1 happy hour. YEAH! Lots of choices for drinks. As a large group, we ordered a bunch of appetizers. Decent but not over the top. I got a steak salad for dinner which was done to my satisfaction. Lots of activity in this restaurant. Lots of TV's to keep up on the action but not too loud. Our group was actually able to hold onto the conversation without screaming. Enjoyed a very good meal here. Appetizer of potstickers proved to be a very good start to the meal, and the Rueben for dinner was flavorful and well-portioned. So disappointed Ordered a Long Island and just tasted like sour mix. Asks for a touch extra rum. They said they would have to charge me for a shot. So they were more willing to dump two long islands that give me a little extra rum to make them taste right. Mandarin spice, Biaggi's and white star make way better long islands. I loved everything about this place - except how busy it was, though the food still came out quickly. We started with an order of Parmesan cheese fries and a big bowl of Brussels - I've never had quite the combination of stuff that was in the bowl of Brussels but I want it again and again - it was delicious. Thick chunks of bacon, cashew nuts, Granny Smith apples, Brussel sprouts and vinegarete was yum yum yum! And a huge portion. Parmesan fries were also delicious - and huge! The ranch dip was excellent too. For my entree I had the Mac and cheese. Smoked gouda-jalapeno cheese sauce with macaroni noodles, house cured bacon, wild mushrooms & bread crumb topping - I minused the shrooms, added grilled chicken and couldn't eat even half of it the portion was so huge, but also rich and tasty. My bff had a burger and was totally beaten by it and the string onions too. Like they say, you don't go here to save money or diet. It was top class and I can't wait to go back to Iowa to go here again!! Server was quick and friendly, food was hot and plentiful, parking was easy and in abundance. These nachos are beyond anything you can think of good. Lobster, crab, cheese, and just loveliness from the first bite to the last. Don't like seafood- try the fried cauliflower. It is fried cauliflower dipped in an Asian sauce that was meant just for the cauliflower. Oh wait.. the ribs. Thanks for asking. Fall off the bone perfection. When you think you can't get another perfect morsel the ribs come with a baked sweet potato that makes you want Thanksgiving dinner all over again. Nope, doesn't stop there... eat the salmon. I cannot speak highly enough of this place. Every single event held in Cedar Rapids, Iowa should end at Zeppelins. Thank you for the great dinning experience. So disappointed. Have bewn going here since they opened. Something changed. Our waitress last night was friendly, upbeat, there when she needed to be, but not hovering. She was wonderful. The food on the otherhand was terrible. My husband has been up all night sick to his stomach and now still doesn't feel well enough to go to work. I had the BenPow salad which I've had ten times before and loved. The chicken had all of this funky seasoning they never used before. The waontons were cold. The honey nustard dressing was like spicy mustard. The whole combination made for something undesireable and although I didn't eat much wasn't worth asking for a box to take home. Tucked behind a strip mall off Edgewood Rd, we never would've found this place without Yelp. It's very spacious and chic with moody lighting, leather booths, and metallic tables. We stopped in for lunch so it wasn't very busy. Our server was friendly and attentive. The food came quickly and in very generous portions. We split the single Nina's Nachos plate - it was awesome and still had half of it to take home! We also shared the Cuban sandwich, so good. I think we'll definitely be coming back. One of the best date night spots in CR! Cozy atmosphere that is dimly lit, unique cocktails, and wonderful food! I always love the cheese wontons, but last night we switched it up with the buffalo cauliflower which was spicy and served with blue cheese sauce. We enjoyed them, however we still think the cheese wontons are the bomb! I love Zeppelins burgers, however last night I went for the VooDoo chicken sandwich... what a spicy delight!! I do not recommend this for people who. Cannot handle heat as this is loaded with spice - jalapeños, siracha, and spicy mustard. The chicken is topped with Gouda (however I switched to provolone) and topped with bacon, pickles, and onion Tanglers. Yummy!! Of course I did fries for my side - last night they were a little stale (tasted like they had been left under a warmer for too long) however my previous experiences with their fries have been great - crispy, salty, and delicious. I wish we had room for dessert ... however we never do even with eating half of our meal! The skillet cookie sounds pretty amazing. Next time...? Maybe?? read more

The chips have been stale and the corn seems canned even though fresh corn can be purchased. I must admit the service we had was great and I want to point out that the staff's patience with a larger group was very much appreciated. "Mostly hype.. lacked delivery" So the wonderful staff at my hotel recommended this this place. Talked about how fantastic it was and I got excited. Me and my colleague arrived with high hopes. The atmosphere was inviting, the bar was spacious and the tvs strategically placed to watch some baseball out the corner of my eyes. The staff was mostly attentive, there were some disconnects, but if I had to guess, she didn't want to feel like she was pestering us. I had the Chicken Corn Chowder Soup and the Blackened Salmon entree. My colleague had the Pork Chop. The presentation was fantastic. but the taste left me feeling like I ate the window display at Panera bread. It lacked flavor, flavor, flavor. Gets very crowded during peak times, but you'll have that with the better restaurants. I've had the salmon, rueben sandwich, grouper, and a few salads. All of them were amazing. This restaurant is mind bogglingly amazing. Lets start with ambiance- the design is so classy. A bit dark, cool art on the walls. Always a very vibrant crowd as well. The bar layout is inviting. All the servers I have had have been sweethearts, and like the management, they have a great sense of humor. I have ordered the Zeppelin burger, their new one with Gouda and avocado, chicken marsala, the bookmaker, and the blackened chicken sandwich. I have never been disappointed with any of these. The fries are perfectly cooked. Burgers juicy as ever. Always makes sure the meat is cooked well. They have a ranch called Smoked Onion Ranch I always get that is above and beyond (shoutout to the people who need good ranch with a burger or fries this is the place for you). They have a caesar salad with pita chips, red onion, and pistachio that is probably one of the best recipes ever. I recommend getting it before your entree. They have a two for one happy hour that my family loves and if I were of age I would definitely take advantage of. It goes so well with the food options. It can get busy and food can get out slow but that is nothing when you want an excellent meal you can count on. 1 million/10 read more

The service was top notch today. Friendly and attentive staff that had our refills covered and really had the timing of their service down as well. The smokehouse turkey burger had us impressed. So well executed you just have to taste it. The Charley was a good sandwich if you're a meat fan. I enjoyed a mango lemonade as well. I just expected a fake-tasting thing, but they at least had mango nectar in there if not fresh squeezed! The one draw-back or confusion for us is a place with this atmosphere (dark and beautiful) and caliber of food that has kids squealing and running about. I'm all for families, but this just doesn't seem like the place to let your kid romp around the room. I feel like seating could've had better execution. That I can stop by with 9 people and see if we can get it if we want. So basically they told me to go somewhere else and when I asked the gentleman on the phone if that is what he is telling me and he hung up on me. Wow...nice customer service. I was going to guarantee you 9 people for a reservation that would generate probably $300 in revenue for you and you hang up on me. Interesting way to make money. read more

Stopped in for meet friends for drinks on a Friday night. The parking area in this strip mall is way too insufficient. Arrived at 4:35 and every seat at the bar and table was occupied and a number of people just standing with their drinks. They do 2 for 1 until 6:00 and really get a crowd. A very nice place for a non-chain. The service was decent for as busy as they were. We had the chicken nachos as recommended by someone we just met there. A very good choice, it had a somewhat smokey flavor and was baked just right. My only issue was the noise level - you had to almost shout to be heard from more than 4 feet. read more

I've given this place a try three times and always leave underwhelmed. The service is friendly and mostly gets the job done, and everyone--hosts, servers, management--seems nice enough, and the place doesn't seem filthy, hence the two stars instead of one. The general feel of the place is very "Iowans who don't know any better think this is a nice place." Its about as good as Olive Garden, but slightly more expensive. The food is bland and the flavors are not balanced. To paraphrase my husband, the food tastes like the cook heard of good things to put in recipes, but had no idea how to cook them. I agree, I think maybe they read a Food Network book but every time I eat there I think maybe it is the cook's first night in a kitchen.
