We came for brunch on a Sunday, the man who took our ID was impersonable and indifferent. He didn't say hi or give us direction. The service was slow due to 1 waitress handling all the tables and the others just handling the bar. It was a bit loud but not to the point you couldn't have a conversation, you didn't have to yell or strain to hear The Bloody Maria was nicely prepared and presented and tasted delicious. Came here for a hot toddy per my parents' recommendation on a snowy day! While it was a tasty hot toddy, I heard their hot toddy earlier in the day had a lot more pizzazz and even a cinnamon stick in it. I did enjoy my time at harp and hound, but would have loved to have the same bartender that made their drinks extra special. We came here for dinner on a Thursday night. We started with the Brussels but they weren't good. They weren't crispy or roasted at all and the flavor wasn't very good. I wouldn't recommend getting them. I also got the chicken Caesar wrap and it was alright. I wouldn't order it again but I wanted something light. I did enjoy my cocktails but I hardly ever don't like my alcoholic drinks so not sure it's saying too much. Stopped by to visit for a drink, but needed to use the restroom first and the staff became really stand off-ish about it. So much so that an officer became involved and forcibly blocked the entrance to the restroom despite being willing and able paying customers. No one greeted us, no sign saying seat yourself, etc. took a few tries to get the bartender's attention. The hostess started with an apology and explained they were out of many things, and directed us to two sections of the menu. Hubs had planned to get chicken wings, so he was disappointed. He settled on the fish and chips, I went with the chicken fried steak because broccoli was the side. No broccoli... but they offered side salad in lieu. The food was okay. There was a lot of old wilted lettuce in my salad, to the point that I felt uncomfortable eating it. The fish and chips were crispy. They had malt vinegar. Cute little bar & grill. Clean. First, this place is awkward to get inside. They have the little fenced-in patio out front but you can't enter through there. There's a small sign that says to enter two doors south. That door has a bunch of business names, but Harp and Hound is not one of them. You go all the way to the back (past people coming out with laundry and multiple other businesses) and you enter through what should be the back of the restaurant. We ordered the garlic fries, cheese curds, bangers & mash, a pizza, and the banger in a bun. Most of the food was so disappointing. The only thing I would really recommend is the garlic fries, those were tasty. The cheese curds were average, but the rest of the food was awful. Everything lacked seasoning and was bland. Most of the food we didn't even finish because it was just so bad. Definitely not worth the $65 that we spent on takeout dinner. read more

My gal pal and I went up to Ogden for a musical and stopped at Harp & Hound beforehand. It's found along a strip along Washington Blvd. It shares a corridor with other restaurants, so the entrance is a little confusing. The staff was very kind, especially the security guy up front who let me leave my water bottle with him since I didn't know it was prohibited. The food was good. All I needed was protein and veggies. I had the Cobb Salad with dressing on the side. I enjoyed the flavor of the dressing. I also enjoyed the appearance and layout of the bar. Great find! We were looking for something open late because we tend to keep odd hours. I went with the shepherds pie which was delicious! The potato to filling ratio did reflect the current economy with a bit more mashed potatoes than I'd prefer but the filling was so good that I really can't complain. My husband had the country fried steak which was a huge serving and so good. The Brussel sprouts were absolutely amazing. I'm always excited to find Irish food on a pub menu and I'll be back to try the Galway grilled cheese! If you're into bingo they have it on Monday nights, it's not my thing but it was still entertaining. read more

I went there on Friday,10/24/25 in midafternoon. I really liked the ambiance and the music that wasn't too loud. Our server was friendly and quick to assist us and I had a drink immediately. We ordered fish and chips and both of us thought they were outstanding. The fish was perfectly browned and crispy. I chose real chips and they were also excellent. One would think that an irish restaurant would have great corned beef hash. For this place that is wrong. I found very little corned beef in mine and the parts I found were sliced very thin. THE WORST. We are from out of town and saw that they have a plant based menu, so we tried it. We were immediately treated at the door by a man with a Sheriff badge saying "I'm a bar." I said excuse me bc I didn't understand what he meant. He repeated himself, "I'm a bar." He said it at least 20 times until we understood that he was saying the kids weren't allowed to go in. We asked if it was a restaurant, and he repeated himself for the 21st time, "I'm a bar." The server was pleasant when present however arriving at the end of the dinner rush as seats cleared and patrons departed I anticipated reasonable service. It took 15 minutes to be given a menu, 20 minutes after order to get a beverage and another 45 minutes to be served my appetizer. I was informed that my order had been given to a will call order and the staff had to make another. The food met expectations but no concession was offered beyond the "I hope the extra time (2 beers) helped your buzz!" The food was phenomenal! I had the Tatochs with Chik'n, it was wonderful! My husband had the Chicken Tender dinner with salad. The salad was a spring lettuce mixture with onions and tomatoes. The drinks were unique. I had the Cookie Monster cocktail and Blue Hawaiian Margarita. They tasted great. My husband had Greyhound and it tasted liked fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. I can't wait till we come up again. It looks like they have a great Brunch menu, which includes a vegan menu. Went for a light lunch today. We split a California Chicken Club with tater tots. This is a great bar with great food. They don't have a huge menu but that means they can do everything well. I got a Spiked Capri Sun and it went down easily. My partner got the Ogden Metropolitan and that was also great. Both drank 'easy and fast'. We also shared the avocado egg rolls and the totchos - they are both delicious!! We stopped coming to Harp & Hound for a while because of a number of reasons. First, the amazing Sunday Brunch was ended, but also the service and food both took a nose dive, which was rare for one of Dave's bar/restaurants. Then some happy news.... The started a Happy hour (3pm until 6pm) every day with cheap beers, shots and appetizers. The food came back strong and they have amazing service and bartenders again, specifically Allie, Heather and the Dana's!! We were back! This is now the go-to place for a couple after work drinks, and a yummy appetizer served up by great bartenders! We didn't try any food but we drank a few cocktails and I had a hard Kombucha. Lots of TVs playing sports and great service for a good price. I liked it. I have to call out Heather who took the risk in making my Old Fashioned with a Basil Infused Whiskey. Great choice! Nailed my palate! I told her I like oaky whiskies and she took over from there. I really enjoy H&H when I'm in Ogden. I've been for dinner and brunch, both on weekends. The ambience is great, especially during brunch on a Saturday morning. It was a little loud inside, so we sat outside for brunch. The street was busy, but that was preferable to the bar music. Faves: I love the full vegan menu! I don't ever feel like I'm compromising by choosing something off the vegan menu. The food is flavorful and filling and hits the spot when I don't want to make it at home. I got the vegan breakfast sandwich during brunch, which came with nice crispy breakfast potatoes. My boyfriend got the vegan tachos (tater tot nachos), and those looked good: crispy tots, plenty of toppings, the works. I can't speak for the drinks on their menu, but I don't doubt that they are also great! read more

Had brunch here this afternoon, it was my first time eating here and based on the disappointing experience it will be my last. I ordered the All American Breakfast with scrambled eggs and bacon it is served with breakfast potatoes and toast. The bread was only toasted on one side, the eggs were cold, the bacon overdone, and the potatoes were lukewarm. I shared my disappointment with the server and she responded with "I'm not the cook". She did however offer to have the cook redo my meal. My policy is you only get one opportunity to make a good first impression, Harp & Hound you blew it.
