This place is said to be one of the best Italian eateries in Ogden. I beg to differ. In our party of 4, not one person finished their meal - all of us decided to just box up. The flavors were just a bit off, like they were trying to be cutting edge, but the acids and the herbs didn't really click. I had the pork shank, which Fred Flintstone would have found truly enormous, my partner had the mushroom risotto, which was almost purple, incredibly over salted, mushy rice (no 'al dente' going on here...), and tasted nothing like a mushroom risotto we recently had at a local in our town. Our dinner partners had a salad and chicken parm with pasta, and neither of them put more than a few forkfuls away before asking for boxes. The noise level was insane, making it extremely hard to even hear the wait person. I *will* note that the staff was delightful, from the maitre d'hui to the wait staff, all were accommodating, polite, and nice. For the price point, while this place has an excellent reputation, it was not someplace I'd recommend as "top notch". read more

A $70 corkage fee for a $20 bottle of wine, just because they have the same wine on their menu listed for $70 is insane and unacceptable, in addition to the outrageous hike in price for the same exact wine if you were to buy theirs. Yes, you read that right. Taking Stellas off our "one of our favorite Saturday night restaurants" list. Too bad because the service, ambiance, and food is worth a 4 or 5 star rating, and there's a number other very good restaurants in that same area to choose from. read more

Ok, have you seen Stella's? This is a little hidden gem on central 25th street with great ambience and style! Bring a date to this place! Service was a bit slow between the appetizers and entrees on a Friday night. No big deal as we were so comfortable enjoying good conversation and an attentive server. The food was rich and decadent. The Cioppino ((Italian seafood stew) was rich, complex, and briny. (But a little overly salty) I loved the Salmon and Calamari pieces with the stewed tomatoes. Yum! First time visit after listening to rave reviews from family that have been here multiple times. First offering of a table seating was at the open doorway next to the kitchen, which I obviously refused. The hostess did not appreciate it, but we were offered another table farther away at my insistence. Our waiter was excellent. Now, the food.... the Bruscetta appetizer was excellent, my tomato bisque soup was also very good. The entree I ordered, not so much. I ordered Linguini Portofino as I was told it was excellent by people that had ordered it prior. The white wine saffron sauce was very good. The pasta was cooked well, the seafood was extremely overcooked and had a rubbery texture, the shrimp had not been cleaned...as in the intestinal gut vein was still inside the shrimp. Obviously i removed the shrimp from the dish and did not eat them after deshelling the first one. One would expect the seafood would have been properly cleaned and not overcooked for the prices charged. There was also a large group of ten to twelve seated near us that were very loud and irritating everyone else seated in the area that was trying to enjoy their dinner. Great service, food, and value. We stopped in here after roosters told us we had a 20 minute wait. Glad we did! I had a wood-fired mushroom pizza. It was good, but would have been better without so much rosemary. Others in our party ordered pasta and steak. The ribeye looked really good! The service was quick and friendly. Solid little Italian spot in Syracuse of all places. Nice menu with several choices. The restaurant itself was clean, warm and inviting & staff was friendly with great service. The food was surprisingly very good. Meatball appetizer was really good. Meatballs were smaller in size that I'm used to, but the you did get several in the serving and sauce was really very nice. Pasta was good and the NY steak special was really good as well. I don't get up north much, but this spot might bring me back considering the poor quality and height prices of some of the italiaspots in SLC. Give them a try. First time here and it's quaint with a relaxed atmosphere. We started out with the Fonduta for our appetizer. It had a good flavor to it, each bite ended with a sharp cheese aftertaste but I didn't mind it. Our waiter Artudo was polite and informative about the menu. He had brought us bread wedges that had been grilled; it's a very heavy textured/dry bread and the fonduta was served with the same grilled wedges! We didn't care for that much of the same bread. Next came my soup. Tomato bisque was excellent! Great flavor and nice and thick; not too much cream but just enough for the creamy texture. This I loved. Then the entree, Salmon/shrimp risotto. This was not overdone, tons of shrimp and salmon chunks. The rice still had texture and wasn't mushed out. I'd come back just for the risotto. They need to rethink the bread though! Chocolate mousse was in a large martini shaped glass, it has a vanilla pudding base, a ton of mousse and a blueberry compote on top. The blueberries had the textured being reconstituted...I didn't care for that. With fresh berries on the market this compote could've been a lot better. With that being said, the vanilla pudding and the mousse was perfect! My spouse liked his pasta dinner and dessert so he too didn't mind it. I would like to return, try something different. However, don't be in a hurry. It took us a while...two hours to get through everything. Personally I didn't mind taking our time. The most important thing I can say about this place is that I hope you have a large packet of free time when you plan to go here for dinner. Understand, the food is pretty good and they do warn you in advance that they cook the meals when you order it. So expect an extended wait time for some aspects of this meal. The thing is by the time when I get to dessert I expect it quickly. I want to vacuum it up and give up a weirdly large portion of my paycheck for the meal. As stated the food it self was quite good, though some of the little extras that you get at other places seem to be missing here. Sort of like Parmesan cheese on my pasta. But seemingly there was a single wait person working tonight so he may have forgotten it as he flew by. Same with our drinks. This place is BEAUTIFUL. Exceptional ambiance and design the second we walked in. Even though it was very busy for a Thursday night, and we had no reservations, we were seated very quickly. Our server was at our table almost immediately. He was so gorgeous that three generations of women in my family (including my 92 year old grandma) just sat there and stared at him like idiots. His name is Andre. He proceeded to give us probably the best service I personally have ever experienced. He was extremely attentive, and always appeared out of nowhere to refill our drinks when they even got a tiny bit low. It was very clear he was paying great attention to all of his tables. Even though it was busy, we didn't have to wait for one single thing, including our check. I have to be honest, I've been in the customer service industry my entire life (though not as a server) and I thought I knew what customer service was until Andre. I hope the people who own the place read this and know what a gem they have with him. He also shook all of our hands when he finished up our table. I've never had that happen before. The food was...okay. Mom and Grandma loved theirs. I had the lasagna, and it came in a beautiful clay pot, but it was SOOOOO salty. My tongue still hurts from that and the artichoke fonduta. Just so much salt everywhere. And I never thought this would be a sentence that would ever come out of my mouth, but there was WAY too much cheese in the lasagna. Hardly any pasta at all, and a layer of grease on top. The thing that is satisfying about lasagna for me is cutting down through those sheets of al dente pasta, and especially the ricotta between the layers. This does have ricotta, but it's hidden by the 50 lbs of Mozzarella that covers the whole thing. Grandma absolutely loved her ENORMOUS dish of Spaghetti & Meatballs. Mom and I halved one of her meatballs (there were 8!!!) and agreed that they were wonderful. Grandma eats like a bird, but she wolfed down half that dish. It was pretty hilarious. Mom got a farfalle pasta with a vodka tomato sauce that had chicken and garden veggies. It was really good too. So maybe I just got the wrong thing. We loved the entire experience though, and plan to go back. The prices were very reasonable for such a high-class establishment...we had 3 entrees and an appetizer and came in at under $60 (before tip.) This was a family dinner,celebrating Christmas now that we were all together. We had all wanted to try this place and were excited for "Christmas" dinner! My husband and I ordered the Margherita pizza and the Tagliatelle Al Fileto pasta dish. First off the pizza was NOT a margherita pizza in any form. It did not have basil but some other type of a green that was tasteless. The mozzarella cheese was of very poor quality, grated and bland if it was mozzarella at all. It was like we ordered a pepperoni pizza, got a Hawaiin pizza and called it a pepperoni! The pasta was a soup, as you can see below. It was supposed to have gorgonzola which there was none. I asked our waitress if it was supposed to be served like this and she said yes. She could tell that we were not thrilled about it at all but didn't offer to have it remade or offer us another option. No one at the table was happy with the quality or menu description of their dish. All orders were like mine, tasteless and not anything like it was described on the menu. Our server was brash and indifferent to our questions and concerns. So it was a $160+ meal that was a complete waste of money. I was honestly surprised that my experience was so poor at Stella's. After reading reviews and hearing this was the best Italian food in Syracuse, I thought for sure we'd have a good experience. But I think I fell victim to the bubble effect where customers rate an establishment based on their limited experience. Between the 4 people in our party, only one had an entree that was enjoyable. My wife got the chicken Parmesan and it was by far the worst chicken parm I've tasted in my life. None of us finished our meals and we didn't take any boxes to go. The rolls were heavy and lacked taste. The butter was interesting, a homemade concoction that was attempting to be fancy but tasted like butter mixed with parsley and rosemary. We have lived here for 4 years (moved here from Georgia) and have tried different restaurants throughout the Northern Utah area. Stella's was such a great find and I'm so glad my husband and I decided to have an early dinner/late lunch today and chose this place. The service, hospitality and food were superb and I have longed for true service and food since leaving the Great South where Hospitality and good food go hand in hand. My husband had the Shrimp Carbonara and I had the Beef Stroganoff. The bread was fresh - yum yum! The butter that went along with the bread was something I definitely need the recipe for. They have a great selection of wine by the glass or bottle and an assortment of ales. So...if you are near Syracuse, UT...give this place a try. You won't regret it and neither will your taste buds. My husband and I were caught having to change our anniversary plans at the last second due to rioting in downtown SLC. We found ourselves in Ogden, in an area we haven't spent much time in. Our yelp search led us to try Stella's, and we're glad we did! The fresh breadsticks were delicious, the artichoke and spinach dip was cheesy and savory, and we both ordered soups which were delicious as well. I ordered the chicken Marsala, and my husband order the beef stroganoff. We both loved our entrees and tried each other's, they were both delicious! We only ate about half of the food we ordered and we were stuffed, but excited to eat the leftovers the next day. The service was awesome as well. He was plenty nice, but he seemed to give out too much information about the restaurant. It's fine to tell us changes are coming to the menu, but not for the reasons why. I will still give the restaurant 5 stars because he was nice and probably didn't mean to give out as much info and all of our food was good. We would come back again. Bonus: I personally am not a fan of cheesecake and I don't usually order it because it's a thick/hard dessert. However the manager had us try it and I was pleasantly surprised by it. Delicious! The waiter is new, but he's trying very hard to make it a great experience for us. And doing an excellent. The food tastes fresh and is perfectly cooked. My hubby got the cranberry turkey sandwich which was juicy and delicious. It was made with fresh cranberry, not the canned stuff. The salad was good, the dressing was the raspberry vinegarette. Also fresh made, not from a jar. I got the Risotto, the color was not exactly the most appetizing, but the flavor profile...prefect. Spinach, cheese, shrimp. Not to salty, not too crunchy, not too mushy, too flavorful or too bland. We shared the Fonduta, and it was so good! So excited to have this quaint and delicious Italian bistro near our house. The atmosphere is quiet, cozy and slighter nice than just "casual." The food was better than nice! We tried the bruschetta with 4 cheese croquette and focaccia. The croquette was rich and sharp. It was a nice contrast to the bruschetta. Hubz had the risotto of the day, which was mushroom. I'm so astonished by all of these great reviews and I wish I'd had the same wonderful experience. My parents and I went in tonight (a Wednesday) around 6pm. Very few people in the dining area, seated immediately. Waiter came to greet us almost immediately. Unfortunately that's where the positives end. Asked our waiter twice for a wine menu. Asked our waiter twice for our wine that we ordered- eventually asked the hostess and then we got it. Waited for over 40 minutes to get our dishes. My mom's lasagna was frozen in the middle. My dad's steak was well done, he'd asked for medium. Sent both dishes back - we waited another 20 minutes for re fires. My mom's lasagna came back a second time, frozen in the middle. My dad's new steak was raw this time. We then asked for our check, and stated we would pay for what we'd eaten. I guess the other positive here is they comped us our entire meal. Almost two hours total spent in the restaurant, to be served a mediocre pasta dish and an appetizer. Such a shame. read more

We joked that we should have run up the sidewalk a little to get breadsticks from Little Caesar's. Not that I crave Caesar's breadsticks either, but they are better than these.
