Cozy and comfy boba shop, albeit the space is very small. Like enough to seat 2 people max. Not very good for any kind of sit down thing even though they have an extensive sushi menu. I came here after dinner in the area, and lucked out since it was close to the Rose Pak station. They have milk teas and sushis, but this review is strictly for their milk tea section of the menu. I ordered an Osmanthus Oolong and a Yashixiang milk tea that came hot. Since it was a cold winter night, my wife was so happy they served hot drinks at no extra charge. The osmanthus oolong was super floral and had a very strong tea taste, which I was pleasantly surprised by. It was probably one of the best osmanthus oolong milk teas I've had, so I definitely find myself coming back here for the taste. I asked for less ice, but I feel like they put a little too much than 25% ice. The boba pearls are soft, chewy and flavorful, but some pearls were a little harder than others. The Yashixiang milk tea had a decent lemon taste and was overall enjoyable, even with boba in a hot drink. It definitely feels like a mom & pop shop, and with that vibe came with the wait times. We were waiting a good 5-10 minutes for 2 drinks being the only customers in the store with an order. The longer than average wait times and the generous amounts of ice when asked for less ice made me on the fence of giving this place 5 stars. However, even though wait times are long and the boba quality isn't consistent, I think I've found my new local boba shop to order at whenever I'm in the area. The drinks are high quality and I always feel good about supporting local businesses, so give this place a try!

The food here is incredibly underrated. This place has some of the freshest Best tasting sushi. The service is awesome. It's a very small shop but they do their best. Certainly worth supporting this local Mama and pop shop.

Cute little to go boba and sushi place in Chinatown. I discovered Zhu's Tea through Instagram reels! Our food didn't come out super fast, probably because they were making everything fresh in the back. You wouldn't believe that little storefront could make sushi but everything was really fresh and nicely seasoned. The sushi rice used for our bowls and roll was lovely. Fish quality was not suspicious and my mango sago pomelo drink was also really quality. I hope with the influx of customers that they will get more help for future orders as I saw a line form right behind me.

During our visit to SF, we were recommended by a local to stop by and support this mom and pop shop for fresh sushi and tea. Unfortunately, it was so good I did not capture too many pictures lol My son had an order of a California Roll which he enjoyed. My sister had the lunch special of a California Roll plus 5 piece Nigiri and I had a Spicy Tuna and California Hand Roll. The food was delicious and fresh which we accompanied with a Jumbo Fruit Tea that was so refreshing. Plus The service was great. The owner was friendly and the ambience was intimate. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit! I can't wait to stop by again soon! A 10/10 must try!

    salmon poke bowl

Had lunch here today at this surprisingly delicious hole-in-the-wall local business. My husband and I both got the salmon poke bowls (about $30 total for 2 poke bowls). Pros: - Really fresh salmon fish! Tasted almost like poke from Hawaii. - Order came out in less than 10 mins, which we ate inside. - Staff was all really nice - Funny Asian gameshows playing in the background - Pretty decent quantity - I was pretty full after eating the whole bowl - Very casual environment, good for grab and go boba! Cons: - don't drive here, parking is really difficult. - Super small interior, only seats 4 inside (2 counters with 2 seats each), with some small stools outside if you want to sit and eat really quickly Overall, a great place to pick up a quick meal, mostly to-go style. Not good for if you're trying to sit down and eat a long meal, especially if you have a party of more than 2 people. Super fresh tasting fish!

I saw Zhu's on Instagram, profiled by a Chinatown food account. I was in the mood for boba on New Year's Day after tennis, and Zhu's Tea was open and on-the-way! I ordered a medium Jasmine Milk Tea with boba and the boba was thick, chewy, and a good consistency. The jasmine could've been mixed in a bit more. Service was great, they opened last month. I'll be back to try som of their sushi! Nice addition to the area and block. Love the decor and service, too.

I was pleasantly surprised about the sushi at Waverly Place in Chinatown. The California rolls are delicious. It was a good treat. It's a takeout spot.

I came here after seeing that they have a yakut drink so I tried their strawberry yakut sparking drink and it was amazing! It has fresh strawberries which was refreshing. The cup is durable and easy to use. I asked for less ice and it finally wasn't filled with ice like other shops do. For the first time I felt like it actually had a perfect amount of ice for me. It wasn't too sweet which was good. I didn't try their toppings but I'd love to try this place next time. The service was good and the lady in front was very nice. The inside is super small so be aware. I thought it was interesting that they served sushi so it was unique. Id recommend you guys to try! The prices were good Id say pretty average. The place is pretty clean as well. I came here on a weekend and it wasn't busy at all I think I was the only person there during my ten minute visit so show some love!

Love going here for fruit tea! Got the large size today and always so flavorful & refreshing (and not too sweet since you can choose 50-100% sweetness!) Great place for rolls too!

Custom request (Salmon, Mango, Cucumber, Avocado). Delicious!!

By far the most artistic and exquisite sushi in the city! A hidden gem. I would highly recommend the party tray! The space is clean and service impeccable.

Both were delicious. I particularly liked the Salmon Mango roll - it was a perfect mix of sweet and savory. The rolls came with 8 pieces each and each piece was a good size, so it was plenty for two of us. I also got a Sapporo beer (bottle) to sip on. Overall, good experience - quick, efficient service and satisfying meal.

The restaurant can be a little hidden, but it's pretty easy to find with the instructions they send before your reservation. It's located above Fermentation Lab. Just head up the stairs and you'll find it inside the old Ichi Pub space. The restaurant is small and intimate, with only 9 seats at the counter. When you arrive, walk through the Yuji curtain and check in directly with the chef since there is no host. My biggest concern with set menus is always whether I'll feel satisfied and full afterward, but that was definitely not an issue here. My husband and I were both very satisfied after the meal. Every dish was delicious, and you could really taste the quality of each ingredient. Highlights for me were the bluefin sashimi, which was so buttery and soft that it literally melted in your mouth. The skillfish was rich and decadent, and the citrus and ginger balanced the flavors. The fried fish was another favorite as it reminded me of the savory Japanese rice crackers I loved growing up. Since it's located in Japantown, parking can be challenging. We had to loop around several times looking for street parking and even had two cars take spots we were waiting for, so definitely give yourself extra time before your reservation. I would highly recommend this place! The chef changes the menu periodically based on what's in season, so it's a great excuse to come back and try something new in the future. The location is unusual, as the restaurant is open to the mall, which is a bit disruptive. I came for the 8:30pm seating, but the previous guests were still finishing, so I had to wait until 8:45pm. The staff did not seem very concerned. Bad start. You could also hear the mall cleaning crew during dinner, which was not very pleasant. I ordered the 24-item Mizuho Menu, as did all the other guests. There were 5 guests in total (the restaurant can seat up to 8 people). Here is the menu I was served at the end of May: 1. starter: ama ebi cracker with caviar, pickled lotus root with shaved bonito, crab salad 2. nigiri 4x: isaki, iwana, myabi tai, kanpachi 3. sashimi: chutoro, hotate with caviar, umi masu, sawada 4. nigiri 8x: hirame, suzuki, inada, kurodai, shima aji, kamasu, otoro, aged A5 wagyu, kinmedai 5. hot dish: miso soup with inari and shrimp head, hokkaido uni with marinated ikura, black cod, umi masu with raw yellow egg and caviar 6. dessert: matcha ice cream with strawberry Frankly, the food was excellent. The starter was not very creative, but the nigiri were great. The sashimi selection was very nice, with some fish you do not see as often in omakase menus, such as isaki, iwana, and myabi tai, a kind of tai. Sawada was delicious and is always a good inclusion. We asked for some wasabi and received a small cup of kizami wasabi, a chopped wasabi with a slightly crunchy texture, which was a nice touch. For the nigiri, all the classics of a good omakase were present: otoro, kinmedai, shima aji, uni, hotate, and wagyu. Kamasu was also included, and it is one of my favorite fish. It is also worth noting that they age both their beef and their tuna, including the otoro that was served. A few pieces were torched, maybe a few too many. Overall, the service was not memorable, although chef Ron Au was friendly and nice. The place itself felt a bit questionable, and my expectations were not very high after the beginning of the meal.
