Camel City Yacht Club with the smooth sounds
    Coco M.

Ziggy's was the perfect venue for seeing Camel City Yacht Club. Big, room, great sound, electric energy, and a crowd that came ready to rock! The nightclub felt like it had drifted straight into a marina after dark lol ...dim lights, a packed dance floor, and yacht rock filling the room with smooth grooves and nostalgia. Captains hats were everywhere, bobbing in time with the music as strangers instantly became shipmates. The band always have a loyal following; people sang along to every chorus, knew exactly when to cheer, and danced like they'd been waiting all week for this moment. Laughing, singing along and swaying with fellow fans, it felt less like a concert and more like a floating party at sea. By the end of the night, the dance floor was a joyful mess of pure yacht rock bliss. We literally danced for hours, felt so good, like after a workout haha. The layout makes it easy to move, the lighting adds to the atmosphere, and the whole place just feels alive. It was one of those nights where the music, crowd, and energy all clicked. If you love live music and a packed dance floor, Ziggy's absolutely brings the best bands in every genre and they have for about 40 years (at the old Winston-Salem location).

This spot is such a great addition to downtown! We decided to randomly stop in on a Saturday night around midnight and there was live music playing which was so fun. I was happily surprised to see we didn't have to pay a cover & we didn't need tickets. The inside is spacious and the bar is pretty big. They had a lot of cocktails that sounded good but I just got a classic vodka redbull, which was good & not crazy expensive for a music venue - I think it was around $12. They also had a little twist on a vodka redbull that included orange juice. The bartender was super friendly and service was fast. The security coming into the venue was a little less friendly but it is security so it's somewhat expected. The women's bathroom is also insane - there's 2 separate lounge areas with mirrors and cute backgrounds. This venue seems to host a lot of alternative bands which I don't really listen to but it's still a really cool place to go for something different & a great place for artists. Even after the music is over, the bar is open until 2 and there's music so I'll definitely be back.

The downstairs area is the main music hall, with a legit stage, a large bar, and plenty of open room. The second level features a cocktail and whiskey bar, along with a separate lounge style room filled with leather couches and chairs. The third and fourth levels both offer outdoor space, with the third floor having its own bar and the fourth providing additional seating and city views. It's a great mix of spaces for pretty much anyone. The music really stole the show this evening. I arrived early and snapped a few photos before the crowd rolled in. Dear Sister rocked tonight. What an excellent cover band! I'll be seeing them often whenever they roll into town. The only thing holding this from being a 5 star night was the service. It was decent but noticeably slow even before the crowd showed up. Once things got busy, it became very hard to grab a drink or get anyone's attention, which is typical for a packed place but still worth noting. Overall, this is a super fun spot with great music and tons of indoor and outdoor space to enjoy. I'll definitely be back for more live shows or to hang out with family and friends on a nice day up on the rooftop areas.

The menu reflects this with cocktails, wine and beer and the menu is extensive on the beverages! The food menu is terrific and has so much variety and some really nice plates small and large. It was a theater night when we went and we had a 7.30 show to goto and our server knew that. We got there at 5.30 so figured that gave us the 10 mins to walk to the theater to be on time. We started off with some drinks. My friend loved her cherry ale and I really enjoyed my G&T , the glass it came in was just so unusual. The G&T took awhile to finally make it to me but i loved it. We ordered the tuna tartare and that was delicious and served up with fried green tomatoes which was a different take on it. Nice and fresh and nicely presented. Our entrees were the salmon for my friend and I had the Bahn mi chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. Usually this sandwich is with pork so I wanted to try this. The service for our dinner took almost 45 mins we had finished the app awhile back and my grind had another drink and still we were waiting. It was closing in on 6.50 Pm and at this point we would be inhaling our food when it came and rushing out the door . It came at 7pm and the sandwich was good but they should mention on the menu that it has mayonnaise on it as I don't like that but there was quite a bit on the bun. Not typically in this type of sandwich so I wasn't expecting it. The chicken was a good and flavorful and lots of other veggie fillings and the fries were great. My friend really enjoyed her salmon and the risotto it came with. Just disappointed we had to eat it all so quickly and leave some so we could pay and leave. We had our eye on the lemon posset tart for dessert but we didn't have time . We just thought since the server knew we had theater tickets she would have been more on top of it. Yes they were busy as it was a show night but the place wasn't totally full. Seemed like no urgency when we asked how long the food would be as we had to leave soon. I'd maybe try this place again on a non show night, as I thought they had a great menu. I enjoyed the place just not the service as we barely made the show before the lights went down.

Whether you're looking for something to pick you up (their iced coffee lattes are fantastic) or something to help you unwind (beer, wine, and THC drinks), there's truly something for every mood and time of day. For those underage they have an array of desserts including local ice cream and lemonade. I also love how they keep the space active with weekly events, live music, and community gatherings. It feels like much more than just a place to grab a drink. My partner loves their Thursday night bike rides, and I always enjoy the live music they bring to the park. Another bonus is the location. It's within walking distance of the Greensboro Cultural Center, the downtown library, and the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts, making it the perfect stop before a show, visiting art galleries, or enjoying other local community events. It's open year-round, which is great, but since it's an outdoor space, just come prepared for the weather. Overall, it's a unique local gem and a must-visit in downtown Greensboro!

My in-laws are…read morevegan, so I'm always trying to find restaurants that are enjoyable for them and my omnivorous family. I emailed a few days ahead of time to ask about their options and Juan was kind enough to answer all of my questions. Pangaea is a fusion restaurant that offers a 3-course (soup or salad, entree, and dessert) menu or you can order à la carte. My husband, my FIL and I opted for the 3-course. My daughters ordered chicken wings and fries. My MIL selected an appetizer and an entree. So let's talk food. Starters: -husband got the watermelon tataki salad. This was really tasty but def an explosion of flavor in your mouth. So brace yourself if you're not an eclectic food eater. -I got the peach panzanella salad. Lots of bread but that's what panzanella is lol. I wish there was more peaches but the flavors were really balanced. MIL got the dodo. Think of sweet and spicy. This is a Nigerian dish with sweet plantains, accompanied by pickled red onions and a mild hot sauce. Not too spicy. Plantains perfectly cooked. If I had a gigantic bowl of this, I would've been in heaven lol. Entrees: -The chef whipped up a new creation just for my in-laws. It was PERFECT. Tempura flash fried broccoli with stuffed peppers. They really really enjoyed the dish. Super Compliments to the chef. Even tho it was my birthday, I am so thrilled that they took the time and care to personalize a dish just for them. -husband ordered the Chinese Five Spice Ailine Chicken. Roasted chicken leg quarters with shaved brussels, Chinese sausage, a lime fish sauce and a citrus demi-glacé. Husband stayed getting the true fusion stuff lol. This dish was SO diff btw the five spice and the limey fish sauce, but it again worked so well! I liked this dish too. - I got the mofongo. The shrimp were big and plenty - perfectly cooked. That was the best part. The actual mofongo tho... could've used some more seasonings. That said, it's okay because I had so much flavor in all of my other dishes. Dessert: -husband got the Apple Pie Mille-Feuille. FIL got the vegan version of that. Both really enjoyed it. - I got the ube cheesecake. Btw the dodo and this, favorite dish. I LOVE ube and that mango sauce complimented it perfectly. Staff were super friendly. It's an intimate kinda restaurant and not really a kid kinda place (no chicken tenders lol), but I liked it that way. Comfortable seating with an outdoor covered option. Parking isn't really easy cuz it's downtown Greensboro so we had to walk from a nearly parking deck. Full bar available if that's your thing too. Pangaea, I'll be back!! (&& so will my in-laws!!)

I kicked things off with the "Alex Old Fashioned," which I enjoyed. Brittani, however, took one sip and looked at me like I had just ordered dessert in a glass--so, your mileage may vary depending on your sweet tooth and relationship dynamics. Instead of going full tapa chaos, we opted for the $60 three-course route. The tomato soup was a solid opener--comforting, no notes. The burrata was... fine. It felt like it was one good drizzle of something sweet away from being memorable, but it never quite got there. Then the mains showed up and completely changed the tone of the evening. The burger and the gnocchi? Unreal. Like "briefly stop talking to your friends mid-sentence" good. Easily the highlight. Dessert was an empanada that landed squarely in the "we're already full but let's be polite" category. It did its job, but the stars had already been earned earlier. Shoutout to our server, Amanda--absolute legend. Cool, knowledgeable, and casually working on a full tattoo bodysuit, which somehow made me feel like I showed up to dinner wildly underachieving. She was fantastic. Bonus points: parking downtown was easy, and it wasn't packed, which felt like winning twice. All in all, Pangaea is a great spot--just a few tweaks away from 5 stars, but definitely worth the visit (and the gnocchi alone is reason enough to go back).
