Stopped in for breakfast while staying in Indian Beach. Greeted with a handshake from a gentleman I'm assuming would be the owner. Promptly seated and were brought drinks right away. I had just eggs and corned beef hash and my companions had omelettes. All the food was tasty and ,being a Christian, them having Christian music was a plus for me. The place seemed impeccably clean and newly remodeled. Definitely worth stopping! read more

Stopped by for lunch ordered their shrimp platter and it was amazing. Shrimp were lightly baddered and normal in size however there were more than two dozen on the plate along with hush puppies, fries and cold slaw almost impossible to finish. The diner is spacious, spotlessly clean, staff hustling and helpful. Definately family oriented. The menu is extended and varied, serving just about anything you wish to order. This spot is a no frills just a place to enjoy good down home cooking. read more

This place was surprisingly good. Needed to eat in a rush and came here. I ordered the shrimp burger. It was awesome. Added tartar sauce and a dash of spice. Perfection. Burger was loaded with with shrimp. Perfectly cooked, nice crunch and springy middle and also well seasoned. Really fantastic. read more

My husband and I go to the 4 Corners at least once every other week, even during the height of tourist season. The staff are always friendly and the food is ALWAYS delicious!!! You can't beat their shrimp basket or their breakfast specials!!! If you haven't been in the past year, you are in for a nice surprise, the owner's son redesigned the interior and it is bright and welcoming, quite nautical! Take my advice and treat yourself to good food at very reasonable prices!!! read more

After looking at some condos in the Atlantic Beach and Morehead City areas, we decided to do lunch before heading home. Yelp gave us several options, but this one caught our eye when it mentioned the 100 yr old dining car. Now it's pretty obvious when you pull in, that they've built the restaurant around the dining car, but I imagine you could sit at the original dining car bar if you asked. In any event, the rest of the diner is pretty basic, but seemed clean and comfortable to us. My wife ordered grilled cheese and hush puppies, and I had the shrimp burger and fries. We both came away happy with our meals. First time I have ever ordered a shrimp "burger". It was loaded with shrimp, to the point they were constantly falling off. It's quite difficult to eat, but very good and worth the effort. Service was also very good. Should we end up finding a condo in this area, we will be back for sure. read more

As always, hard working wait staff, busting their butts to serve generous servings of consistently hot and yummy breakfast favorites. Coffee is hot and good iced tea. The place is worn and comfortable with lots of windows, booths offer some personal space with feeling overcrowded. Decent prices. If you're at Atlantic Beach it's worth stopping here for breakfast! Overall, the food was okay, but the service was terrible. As soon as we asked to be put on the list, the hostess--who I believe was also the owner--was very rude. She even went so far as to curse in her native language, presumably so we wouldn't understand, while throwing her hands in the air as if we were the problem. To make matters worse, she seated other parties who arrived after us--either because of our race or because their party was white and larger than ours. This experience has really turned me off from mom-and-pop-owned restaurants, and I hope no one ever has to go through what we went through just to get a table. read more

Skip and go somewhere else! French toast was horrible. Not even real French Toast, the cook dipped it in pancake batter, which takes away the whole purpose of French toast. I did show the server the issue, and she didn't even try to correct it or offer a different item. Eggs were also fake, liquid eggs. read more

Came in to try it out. Cousin has raved about it and stops in to eat breakfast there religiously. Had a chicken with egg biscuit. Would recommend. Not a coffee drinker so I went with a Coke. After finding off breakfast has an opportunity too sit with the owner at the counter and we talked about his life journey and how he landed up buying this restaurant. Great story. Would I come back? An AB institution. It is what it is and that is a diner, plain and simple. It's not fancy, trendy, or gourmet. The food is basic, ample, and more or less reasonably priced. The service is friendly and attentive. My coffee cup and water glass were refilled so many times I had to refuse more. Note about the clam chowder. It is Bogue Banks/Hatteras style. That means no dairy and no tomato. The only thickener is potatoes and that means it may be thinner than you think expect. You may or may not care for this particular regional style. I do. Oh, and there's an upcharge for credit card usage but there's a bank catty corner from the diner. read more

Cute place. Looks like they literally build up a building around an old diner. Lots of seating and great locals serving. Good honest food and the prices are perfect. As far as diners go, this is in my opinion a quintessential diner. EXACTLY what I am looking for when I want diner food. We got here at peak brunch time and still only had to wait 5-10 minutes. We got the ham and cheese omelette and the two eggs breakfast. Diner coffee? Great. Diner OJ? Great. Would highly recommend this stop for anyone on the island read more

If you come down to Emerald Isle, you need to find this gem! Breakfast was good but the lunch menu especially platters were filled with nicely fried fish, okra, oyster, clam, French fries!!! For the past ten years, our family has come here once or twice a year while on vacation, but let me just say that we only come here because our favorite breakfast places in the area are closed. Simply put, this place is a solid 3-star-review in every way, but they are charging 4 and 5-star-review prices for basic things that are simply ok. This place has an identity crisis of sorts; on one hand the environment and decor and simple, down-home fare with no frills would suggest one thing, but on the other hand, the prices, while not terribly exorbitant, are still out of line with local breakfast places that are simply way better overall quality. The service is always fine, and the entire staff does their job. Food comes out lightning-fast, and the wait staff doesn't hover and hound customers, yet they also don't disappear either. All in all, temper your expectations when you come here. The food is ok and pretty much commensurate with what you'd expect from a throwback to the 80's, but the fact that they're charging nearly $3 for a watery cup of coffee and nearly $12 for a basic cheese omelet doesn't jive with the no-frills dining experience they're using as their business model. Save yourself the sticker shock at the end and go up the road to the Banks Grill or to Giovanni's Bagels about five miles away. read more

An Atlantic Beach landmark for years is open following pandemic protocols. They have spaced out seating and table to meet current requirements. I've had both breakfast and lunch here. Both had good food, service, and reasonably priced. It's a place where you hear locals in conversation, which is usually a good sign of good hospitality of the staff. During the tourist season, expect a challenge to get a parking space and a wait to be seated. Even with that, I think you'll enjoy the foos and the overall experience. read more

I always try to stop here when I go to the beach. The food is always amazing and the staff is friendly, helpful and very nice!! I usually get breakfast. I have recently had their scrambled eggs-YUM!! Not too dry and always delicious! I also tried their French toast this past week. It's sour dough bread... so tender and easy to cut with a fork!! Great little diner. This was recommended to us by a local at the Aquarium. We enjoyed the breakfast. The portions are hefty and food delicious. The sausage gravy is the real deal. The waitress noticed this right away and sent it back to be cooked longer. Received potatoes instead of hash browns, and when asked why no hash browns, was then told they have only potatoes. As well, was given an option for cheese in my omelette, but instead was given a slab of Kraft cheese on top. Food was ok, service was great.
