This is the first time I have eaten at Ziggy's. It is a small hole in the wall, but it is a hidden gem in Havelock! The locals know; there was a good crowd here this morning. I had the Philly cheese steak omelet with hash browns and wheat toast. A LOT of food for under $10! The two ladies who were the wait staff were nice and attentive. Tried this place once and was unimpressed. Tried it a second time and decided I was done. Hair in my food the first time as well as FROZEN strawberries on my food. If you're going to take a shortcut at least defrost them. Biscuits were ok but gravy was cold and much too salty. Also pretty expensive considering the quality and amount you get. LOVE ziggy's!!! Always a good breakfast, and their pancakes are super fluffy and tasty. Not crazy about their coffee but that's just me being picky. Decently priced, I always get the phillycheese steak omelet with house potatoes, yum!! Its a small place so it can get pretty packed, and the food takes about 5mins longer than at other places but it's worth it! Try it if you haven't already! read more

As others have said...... Located in a strip mall that you will most likely drive right past........ Came to breakfast for the first with my son. When i walk in, instead of being greeted by a hostess/waitress, I am the one who had to initiate the greeting.............. Most places are wait to be seated.......this place is seat yourself (nice to know for first comers so you don't look like an idiot and just standing there like I did) anyways......... Had to locate my own high chair for the little one, no big deal, he is my kid, just saying......... They do not have a kids menu but will accommodate your order (I had to ask that as well)........it took 15 minutes to get the food (not bad)...... I had the Spanish omelette and the only thing Spanish about it was the salsa that came with it.....but it was still good. The home fries were not good at all, tasted frozen with ZERO seasoning......... Pass on them. The pancake for my son was massive!!! Took up the entire dinner plate......it was the best thing that was ordered.....The scrambled egg with cheese for him was good. The price, you can't beat!!! OVERALL.......... Located in an uninviting strip mall that's seen better days - this place does breakfast right! I ordered the chili cheese omelette with quite possibly the best home-fries I have ever eaten. This restaurant is very small and almost hard to spot, but once inside is very cozy, seems like the local people come here a lot! We came in a Sunday morning for breakfast/brunch and the place was almost full, 5 minutes after we were in our table the place was completely packed! All tables full. We came here for my daughters birthday breakfast. I figured we would come here instead of going to bakers kitchen which is where we always go for a breakfast treat ( we don't eat out much) in New Bern. I saw the review online and figured why not. My hubby is deployed and this is closer to the house. Very small place. Had a small town atmosphere. Seems like a lot of older people come here. Well, we're in a small town :(Definitely a hole in the wall. No one to welcome you. We (me and the kids) sit down and just wait. It was cold that day and no matter where we sat we felt the cold wind when someone opened the door. Not to mention the cigarette smoke we inhaled from people smoking outside after eating. Yuk! Such a disgusting habit. Anyhoo, on with the restaurant. So we order , 2 kids ordered the blueberry pancakes. Those suckers were huge! Bday girl ordered French toast. Other daughter ordered a burger.... yes , for breakfast. Hey it was a special day. Don't judge ;) I ordered 2 eggs with hash brown, bacon toast. Even though it did take some time, we enjoyed our meals. When we were finished the waitress just said to come to the register whenever we were done..... ok After a couple of min I go to the register and she gave me the total verbally. Ummm can I please see my receipt? She gave me a look like How dare I ask for the receipt. Don't you trust me?? So, after I'm done looking over the receipt I explained that I've never been to restaurant where they don't give you the receipt to look over it first. It's either you go to the register with the receipt or you stay at your table and they come and get it from you. She looked at me like I had three heads. Is this how they do it in really small towns? 96.5 on health check. when you walk in find somewhere to sit. I had two ladies standing at the register (looking directly at me) and they looked at me like I was a dummy. I just walked over and sat down, assuming I was suppose to. Should note, I am in town on business. I ordered Spanish omelette home fries rye toast coffee and water. The Spanish omelette came with a side of salsa that I am sure came out of a can or bottle. It should have been called the onion omelette. I love onions but that was over the top. As noted in other comments the potatoes are frozen deep fried with absolutely no flavor. I own a company called K9Transport and because this is a military town I am in the area quite often and looking for real "local" places to eat and not fast food. Staff is friendly, keep your coffee filled. Several locals seem to frequent the place. The food, omelette wise, is good but I will stick to the basics. No check brought to table, they ring you at register with no view of check before paying. Overall friendly, remove some of the onions and the omelette with what seemed almost like deli ham was good. After stumbling across this gem last Summer, I fell in love. Havelock is a small town full of big families, and it's very hard to come across good, homemade food. I decided it was time to review my favourite breakfast nook after recieving horrible service somewhere else, to balance out my good and bad reviews. Every Tuesday, me and a group of three-five friends go to lunch at Ziggy's. We always sit at the large center table, which is waited on by a very lovely waitress who waits on all of the other tables, as well. It is a pretty small place, but when groups come in, you can still expect the waitress to be smiling and ready with, what I believe to be, the best coffee I've had since I moved to Havelock four years ago. They are not only very flexible with the rather large menu, but they have yet to cook something wrong in the year that I've been going to the place. The lunch is pretty good, but the breakfast is pretty awesome. They beat all other breakfast chains, in my opinion. Everything on the breakfast menu is cooked fresh and tastes superb. Nothing tastes like it wasn't bought that morning. On top of that, even the juice tastes fresh-squeezed, the tea tastes newly-brewed, and the coffee tastes recently-made, too. I have never been disappointed, and neither have many of the friends I've brought to the restaurant. In fact, in all the time that I've ever visited the place with friends, only one person was unhappy with their eggs, and that's it. The place is very cozy, and everybody knows everybody. I highly suggest Ziggy's for lunch, breakfast, family time, or even a morning date. The place is pretty casual, plays nice radio-style music, and is relatively quiet. I am in love with that place and will surely be missed when I move again this Fall. read more
