Really neat place! They have a breakfast pierogies and kielbasa skillet/omelette!! Granted I wasn't here for breakfast but that alone shows just how awesome this place is. I ended up here for the first time while visiting my cousins who are apparently Ziggy's regulars...they eat here twice a month at the very least and seemed to have the daily specials menu memorized. Alas, our waitress was quite familiar with my lovely cousins and we had one of the quickest, most attentive dining experiences of all time. I was here on a Wednesday - the special (thanks cousins) being $5 burgers. If only it were a Thursday when they have their chicken paprikash special but I guess that will have to wait till next time. Most of the table had cheeseburgers which were really good. They came out ridiculously fast. I wasn't quite feeling a ginormous cheeseburger so I went with the patty melt. It was equal parts gooey and oozy without being soggy and the omg I have to get rolled out of here afterwards feeling. The entrees are also pretty huge, tons of food at a very reasonable price, especially if you get a side salad. Awesome menu items I need to try next time: - Sauerkraut balls. 'Nuff said. They were the same price as my patty melt. That means they have to be good. - Pierogies. Hope they're homemade. - Polish burger topped with pierogies on a pretzel bun! This place is like a bad Lifetime movie, I keep going back knowing the outcome is more than likely going to be bad. It was bad. I ordered over $90 of food, only to show up for takeout and waiting 20+ minutes over the time they said my food would be ready, and it wasn't crazy busy. I could hear some dude with a green shirt and shorts who appeared to be lower level management, calling out for the workers to make the items in my order, and all this time my order should have already been made. One of the dishes I ordered, Chicken Alfredo, I was pretty sure that it would be challenging to fuck this dish up. They fucked it up. And I ordered 3 of them. They were behind making my order and it appears as if they were so far behind, they didn't take time to make more Alfredo sauce as the dishes had like no Alfredo sauce on the noodles. I literally got oiled noodles with burnt tasting chicken. I've ordered chicken Alfredo in the past here and it had lots of sauce, so this is not how the dish is supposed to be made, with hardly any sauce. If you screwed up and are running behind, don't make more mistakes, take the time and do it right. The pulled pork tacos ordered contained just as many fat chunks as it did good pork. So back to the Lifetime movie theme, the last time I ordered which was several months ago, I waited forever for my carry out order and they didn't give me everything I ordered and didn't discover it until I got home, so I didn't go back. Fast forward to tonight, I decided to come back and order again, only to be disappointed again. Similar to other posts, even when I've eaten at the restaurant, the overall culture is one rooted in entitlement. Whether sit down or carry out, the customers are made to feel that we should be grateful to eat there and if we don't like it, they don't give a shit because they are an established local favorite that will always have business. Regardless if they have a monopoly on dining due to lack of competition and prime location downtown, everything just comes off as amateur and not customer focused. The best part of my recent experience though was when I went to leave, a young lady who worked there who was coming back into the carrout door, held the door open for me as I walked out with my 5 bags of disappointment. Very nice bar with great bar food. Lots of tv's in this place if you're going to watch the game. The staff was friendly and welcoming and kept our glasses full. The menu was very extensive with many options. It made it a little difficult to decide what to order. I decided to go with the Stuffed Banana Peppers as an appetizer and the Italian Stallion Grinder as my sandwich with tater tots. The tots were perfect with a little crunch and just enough flavor without being too salty. The Italian stallion grinder was very good as well. When it comes to the Hot Stuffed Banana Peppers, they were amazing!!!! I absolutely hate when I go out and order something on a menu and they claim it's spicy and they just don't deliver. These DELIVER! Full of flavors, spicy and a perfect amount of cheese and sausage. The peppers themselves were cooked perfectly too. Loved these peppers. In fact they are the best stuffed hot peppers I've ever had to date. You have to try them. I also tried the chips and dip that somebody else ordered and they were also very good. That dip is delicious! I will go back and I recommend it to anybody who is just looking to have a few drinks and great bar food to choose from. read more

Being a big fan of pierogi I was in love with the homemade ones that came from the kitchen. Go at least once a month to Hamtramck for good Polish Food and these were actually better. We also tried a few different sauces for the wings and across the board they were really good (garlic Parmesan being the least favorite, but still good). Only downside was they were out BBQ sauce, teriyaki and chocolate ice cream (for the shakes). Since we went late on a Sunday, maybe just bad timing? The greatest bar food around!! If you're ever in the mood for a Cuban, I'd suggest you order it here. Hands down the best I've ever had. Only down fall about this pub would be the seating arrangements. You are told to seat yourself but if you can't find anywhere for a bigger crowd, good luck trying to ask for help because the servers will pass by you multiple times while you stand there like a chicken with its head cut off. read more

This gem is nestled in the heart of downtown Amherst, hidden between a few resale shops it truly is a treat! The inside has a rustic look with a lot of high top tables with ample TV's. I bet this is a great spot to watch a game! This is an Untapped verified location so they have a fantastic beer menu! Anyhow service was a bit slow and not very personable, but the food makes up for this small shortcoming. We started off with the salt and pepper pork rinds with the Ziggy's sauce which were incredible (I cannot wait to come back to try the sauce on chicken wings) We had a flavorful and large Cuban Sandwich with beer battered fries which were crispy and delicious! We also ordered a buffalo chicken fold over which is essentially a calzone. While the crust was fantastic it was swimming in grease. The buffalo sauce was non existent, as was the chicken and all you could taste was onions and blue cheese which was incredibly over bearing. Unfortunately I had to switch my awesome sandwich with my daughter as she refused to eat the fold over. All and all a great place to go, if the service/attitude of the waitstaff was a bit more friendly and they payed a bit more attention to the drink levels this would be my go to spot! read more

Food was always good here , however 6 days after the dinner I noticed a $602.89 charge for 4 sandwiches and 5 drinks .....an over charge of $500 in my account from Ziggys. I called the day I noticed being over charged and then I also went in the next day to talk to the manager. A friendly waitress got the manager for me and by the time I left there I was MORE upset and felt like I did something wrong after talking to manager. He asked if I accrued charges in my account and said if I did he needed to see my bank statement (seeing my statement is none of his business ) and would credit me the $500 extra fee and a $25 gift card saying it was a mistake. (I still have not received my money and it's been a week today ) I was like sir this is huge this isn't like $5 or $50 , it was $500 and I feel I should be credited for my bill (after getting many peoples advice as well) He said "you want it all back ?" I said I should have been offered that , he said I have to call the owner , he took my credit card back with him and called the owner , returned and said , "I hope you know you just took $102 from a college girl." I said excuse me , I am a single mom with college kids and no help from their father at all and this was a HUGE mistake. my first thought is being hacked and what other charges are coming out of my account , I saw this 6 days later and at 5 am so it was very upsetting not knowing what happened and then how it was handled. He said they got a new system and it was a mistake , so if it's a mistake why is the owner making this young lady pay for it and not writing it off and why did you just make me feel like I did something wrong? Oh and he never gave me the gift card either. I think this was handled by the manager Paul very poorly and as much as I enjoy Ziggys food I would not return ever as long as a manager like that runs it. read more

Decided to give this place a try yesterday. Walked in, no sign to wait to be seated or to seat yourself, so had to flag down a waitress to find out. After we seated ourselves, we were greeted by our waitress---the only reason this review gets ANY stars! She was phenomenal. The food & drinks...not so much. Hubby ordered beer--can't go wrong there. I got a margarita-great way to cool off on a hot day. Unfortunately the margaritas were just "meh". No flavor, little to no alcohol. Ordered food- burger (medium) for me, "the monster" for husband. His monster was more like a mini. He enjoyed the flavor, but if you call something a "monster" it leads one to expect something impressive. His cole slaw was warm-ish, so after a taste, we didn't eat it. Black & Bleu Burger with "bear battered" fries sounded much better than what was received. Burger was not even close to medium...more well done and DRY!! The whole burger was just dry. The black and bleu "sauce" was a smear and did nothing to make the sandwich edible. Oh and 2 hard pieces of jerky-like bacon added to the toughness of the sandwich. Needed up ditching the bun and trying to eat the burger alone, but even in ketchup it didn't meet expectations. The fries were just meh. I don't know if we just had bad luck with this first visit, but I doubt we go back. read more

We stopped in staying locally at an Air BnB, it didn't disappoint. The service was very friendly and very clean space. Food was great we had the breakfast, we had gone to Bob Evans the day before to "play it safe" and I regret that we should have tried Ziggy's sooner. The mimosas tastes amazing. I was a regular at Ziggys for about two years. Enjoy the food and the service. The past year has seen a real decline in quality. The burgers which once we're great are now the equivalent of a quarter pounder at Mickey Ds. The quarter pounder may even be better. A tasteless premade patty. The pizza which was excellent is now also tasteless. I also noticed the place is not as crowded as it used to be. Other customers must feel the same way. Ziggy's is kind of a staple in Amherst. This place has been around for quite a while. If you have been in the area for more than a couple weeks, chances are you have been here or heard of it. The food is good (sausage pizza is fantastic surprisingly) and atmosphere is friendly. Bartenders are always happy to help. Lunch specials / Lent specials are pretty great too. My food has almost always come out cold, and the servers maybe come to check up on you twice during your entire time there. Whenever I've gotten a burger, the bottom half is always soaked with grease. Additionally, my soft drinks have always been flat. Disappointing. Nice location, cool ambiance. The wild Ohio cranberry beer was good. The spicy chicken & chili tacos were delivered luke warm and definitely not worth the calories. When served cold, it definitely has an effect on the taste and doesn't make one want to come back for more. The onion rings were overcooked and super crunchy. Again, cold onion rings are not my favorite. The hog & heffer with tater tots were actually served warm, and that meal was good. Other than that, I probably won't be back unfortunately. Ziggy's is one of our go-to spots for breakfast, lunch or dinner. So many great things to say about this place. They have an amazing breakfast menu and we've never had anything bad there. You get a lot of food and always friendly service. It's also a great place to go if you want to grab some wings and watch the game. One of my favorite wing spots and they have a lot of televisions, so you always have a good view of the game. They have a lot of great dinner specials every day. Great appetizers, salads and burgers and they also make great homemade chips and dip. They have an upstairs party room that you can rent out for special events. It has that old industrial warehouse vibe and it's very reasonable. The Manager will work with you on all of the details to make the event perfect for you. They have a catering menu that you can choose from. The staff takes care of all of your needs during your event. They made my birthday party very easy for my Husband to plan and very special for me. My family and I tried to go here Sunday for brunch. There were no tables available, and half of them were reserved for the browns game that didn't start for over an hour. There were several 6 top tables being taken up by 1-2 people who even told us they were waiting to get their "reserved table" an hour later. I finally found a table to seat half of my family, and after I sat down the waitress came over and told me and my family that we needed to get up and move because this table was reserved. We were so frustrated and treated poorly by staff we walked out and ate brunch elsewhere. You don't have a hostess to properly seat people, yet you take reservations for games? Very disappointed in how we were treated, and we typically order Ziggy's weekly. Will not be back for awhile. read more

Came back for the wings since everyone mentioned them and they were admittedly very good. The garlic parmesan sauce was pretty oily but had a strong savory flavor while the Ziggy sauce was a sweeter version of your standard wing sauce based on Frank's Red Hot Sauce. I enjoyed the rustic and non-manufactured taste of the sauces but what really stepped them up to the next level were the actual wings and drumsticks which were maybe 30% meatier than b-dub wings and were consistently moist.
