I went there with friends for a late lunch and ordered hummus and chips, garbage salad, chicken lemon soup and ice tea & gyro meat as a side I paid for order and before going outside to sit down, decided to order a side of yogurt/cucumber sauce. The cashier said that would be an additional $.75 and I said no problem I asked the cashier do I need to swipe my card again and she said no she already had that on file. We received our meals outside. Everything was good except the gyro meat it was charred and looked like it was leftovers/small pieces. I reminded the waitress that I was missing the sauce. She questioned me if I had ordered it since it was an additional $.75 and I said yes I did order it and paid for it. She went back inside to check with the cashier then came back out and said they couldn't find the receipt so I handed her my receipt and she went back inside. All of this hassle for the $.75 product! My friend and I were joined by his father and his girlfriend this evening for our first time at this place. Im going to have to say the food was really good, save for the vegetarian grape leaves. The feta salsa is a -must- try, it was really good. I had the vegetarian gyro, and it was delicious. They do have some fruit smoothies and gourmet coffee available, but maybe next time on those. Updating my previous review...I moved to Chicago in early 2013 and every time I come back to the Toledo area to visit friends I make a point of stopping at Zingo's for lunch. They have since expanded into the shop front next door which is great because Zingo's during weekday lunch used to be like the hunger games to get a table! Despite the expansion they continue to turn out delicious, quality food relatively quickly. My favorites are still the chicken gyro Zingo style and the salads, even the simple Greek side salad is delicious! Every time I'm in town I drag my friends and have continually created more fans of Zingo's fresh cuisine. I crave it every time I leave town and can't wait to come back! read more

Awesome food and service. The setting is warm, and the service is fast. The food is also homemade, and the portions are large. I ordered a vegetarian sandwich that was filled with lentils, lettuce, tomatoes and hummus. Everything was fresh and not soggy. Also, the homemade chips are so good! I also ordered a lavender tea latte with almond milk which was also tasty. It was not too sweet, and it didn't burn the roof of my mouth. Will be going back! read more

I have been slow getting into Mediterranean, but I have liked gyros for a little bit now. No gyro is like their Zingo style. The grilled pita wrap added a great texture that added so much to the meal. I have also shied away from getting hummus. My previous experience was with store bought hummus and I couldn't get past the texture of it. The hummus here has opened my eyes. It was so fluffy, almost whipped, and had amazing flavor. Driving through Ohio and was hungry and yelp led me to this place. By the lake/rievr whatever that is. Easy parking. Had the junk salad. Comes with gyro meet and kebab'd chicken pieces. Oer bed of greens, radish, chickpeas, feta and a side of red wine vinegar infused tahini dressing. It was okay. I don't know if I would come back for that. But seems like they have locally sourced their ingredients. so, wudn't look down the nose. I was recently visiting family for a few days in Perrysburg, and after my first trip to Zingo's I kept suggesting we go back. An hour to kill? "Let's go to Zingo's". What a treat to find a healthy and delicious alternative to the fast food crap that usually greets us while traveling along I 80. I'm often flummoxed driving through this area by the lack of quality eats...and I'm here so often during lunch time! Even with the help of my handy Yelp app, I have, time and again, chosen what I thought was going to be a decent meal, only to be disappointed. Today we ventured a little further afield, and drove about 5 miles off of the highway into the picturesque village of Perrysburg. The Yelpers got it right this time, and we had a quick and delightful meal before heading back out on the road. Vegetarians and omnivores alike will find much to enjoy on this menu of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean plates. I had the Mediterranean Junk Salad, minus the gyro meat. This is the salad that I would make if I was to put everything I like best on one plate. The tahini dressing was perfect with the other ingredients, and the salad greens and veggies were just as fresh as they could be. They cube the chicken before grilling it, and it was cooked perfectly. Service is fast and friendly, and they have outdoor seating during the warmer months. People are calling this salad pricey, and maybe it is for this neck of the woods, but not in my book...not for what you get. I will return and try more. read more

After a two day drive from Washington DC back to Plainfield Il., we were getting tired of fast food restaurants.... We decided to use Yelp to help us find a new place to eat. After reading all the great reviews about Zingos.... Thought we'd give it a try. After we walked in and saw how cute the place was, we were pleasantly surprised. The food was great! So disappointed in the staff here, came with my 2 year old and asked for a vegetarian gyro and asked them to chop it up like a salad so that my son could eat it....they told me they couldn'the do it. I asked for a manager and a young lady came out and said they couldn'the do it. I told her I comega here all the time, but I'must going to stop coming. I'm not changing the rating based on the food and vibe of the place, but want to warn people about their shakes. As much as I like their smoothies, I dislike their shakes. Recently, we have been stopping by after a meal at other establishments to get a smoothie and/or coffee. This particular evening, we both ordered shakes. I had the chocolate peanut butter and my spouse had raspberry. Neither were very good. The warning is they are not typical shakes made with ice cream - they make them in the smoothie machine and use milk and finely crushed ice, which gave it an odd texture compared to the normal, creamy texture of an ice cream shake. Also, the flavor was not very good. My spouse said the raspberry flavor was weak, like it needed more of the mix. We will be sticking to the smoothies and coffee drinks. read more

Okay. We were not looking forward to ANY eating experience in the Bowling Green/Perrysburg Toledo area. Being from Chicago where there are the most per capita James Beard awardee chefs and internationally renown restaurants, we had tempered our hopes of having any good food during our brief stay in Ohio. We thought we could survive on a diet of Bob Evans and Friendly's for a couple of days....Well we couldn't hold out. We are STILL talking about this place! WOW!!! Can they put the desserts on special on-line order? The best baklava we've EVER tasted??? Better than Greek town in Chicago???The skordalia was so creamy, our relatives swore it was garlic butter? **That there is butter!** NO It's potatoes. WTF? POTATOES??**** NOOOOoooo..... It tastes like butter?!! What kind of Potato is that? Some kind of special Greek potato?*** Meat so tender and marinated with just the right spices and not over charred? Organic all you drink free-trade coffee with organic cream? I think we went hog-wild and ordered about 130.00 dollars worth of food for 7 adults. We were left packing up boxes for days of leftovers. Please. Someone needs to call the food channel and put this place on the map! Diners Drive-ins and Dives??? These people are on the money! The only thing they need to improve is their pita bread. It's not bad, but the other food is so incredible, that their mediocre pita could detract from the other wonderful things. Also their online web-site gives the food no justice. In the meantime, I think I will be begging this place to send me their vegan chocolate cupcakes and baklava in the mail. I HATE vegan food. I ordered the most basic gyro here along with a delicious mango smoothie. The portions were fair for the price, and you get a side of hummus and pita with your meal. The quality of the ingredients wasn't totally amazing, but pretty similar to any Daphne's around. Mango smoothie was delicious by the way, but I don't know if I'd pay $4+ again for it.
