Ahhh Zini. Who ever you are let me tell you... your place kicks ass. As we should all know, service is the first moment where an establishment can make a real impression. I have always been treated like an old friend, including when I started going there. These folks make you feel right at home. The menu is great, with a wide variety of offerings. Not to be missed is there incredible Swedish (I think) ultra thin pancakes for breakfast. They are stratospheric! Dinner is fantastic too! In some ways, all reviews need to be taken within the limitations and jaded glasses effect that we all have to some degree. Ever been to Cyrus? Truly one of my most loved places to dine. Go there with average expectations because it's an average sort of place to eat. Their "swedish" pancakes are just thin buttermilk pancakes, which is the best way to make pancakes anyway. We had breakfast in this pleasant but sparsely furnished little place and found it to be clean, the service attentive, and the food handled well. My husband and I came here for dinner before work,I looked at the yelp reviews and they were really good. My husband had the ravioli plate and I had the clam linguine plate and we both ordered the clam chowder.....where to begin I'll start with the clam chowder it tasted and looked like it came from a can and the bowl was tiny, my husband got the full order of ravioli and it was super small,my linguine with clams was swimming in garlic btter and tasted really bad. IF we are in the area again we won't be stopping here the food tastes horrible,and it is super cold in the restaurant and the food tasted cold I am leaving a one star review. read more

Heck yeah. Super cheap, totally simple breakfast diner food. I was hungover as all hell and needed hash browns like I needed water. Zini's delivered. The decor is really strange and the space probably used to be an auto parts store, but that's alright. The people working were nice and the service was quick. read more

We loved this place. Super friendly and I care alot about friendly. The building is just a box but it isn't about the building here, it's about the food. We had the daily special which was eggs Benedict, wow! Fantastic! Then we got the bill....and it was cheap! $26.00 for both with coffees and they gave us coffee to go too. If the Sunday morning crew reads this we both think you're the best and wish we could be regulars but we're from Washington so its a bit of a drive. Zini's has reopened and is under a new owner with the previous owner helping out to get things going. I thought this was such a nice gesture, helping the new owner and his family out by introducing them to the community of Cloverdale. Essentially, it's simple food done really well. My wife and I first went to Zini's about 18 months ago. I had the pan fried chicken and have been dreaming about it ever since. We went again last night and the chicken was just as good as I remembered it. It is an awkward space but that is more than made up for by the quality of the food. Do not expect an extravagant dining experience. We've made Zini's our regular local place to eat out about once every other week. We go because the food is great (in the expected IHOP/Denny's kind of way) and we never have to wait too long for our order. Most of all, the service is very warm and friendly. It's not "professional friendly" where it feels as though your server is acting out script called "friendly". It's the rare kind of place where the people working there seem genuinely happy to be there and to serve you. So I highly recommend this place. read more

Delicious food, but amazing staff. I went to Zini's for breakfast after spending a week on the coast. The breakfast was delicious, but the staff went above and beyond. After eating my husband and I left and headed back home. Upon our arrival in Sacramento I realized I had left my purse with all my personal things at the table behind the chair. I called them and Chris said they had it and were very happy to hold it till I returned but then I informed him that I live in Sacramento and these wonderful people packed my purse and UPS it to me the very next day. Thank you to the wonderful and talented people at Zini's. You are definitely a place that I would make a destination stop on our next trip to the coast. read more

5 stars for their breakfast specials menu alone. $1.25 coffee. $2.45 for an awesomely huge fruit filled crepe. I will admit the acoustics are horrible not unbearable but not great either due to the commercial buildings huge ceilings. I got over that pretty quickly once we got our food. Went here for brunch lunch and wasn't disappointed. Home cooking style. You know they made it fresh when you ordered. I had the chicken fried steak. WOW! I was delightfully surprised that it was an actual battered piece of steak with great homemade gravy. I asked for crispy hash brown and over easy eggs, All came out exactly to order. Food: It is pretty good. I ate the beef sandwich. That personally was very bland. I kept having to add salt to everything. It came with veggies that tasted like they were from the frozen aisle. The gravy was from a mix because it had chunks of powder in it. The beef itself was a bit dry and the bread was soggy. I tried my moms fish and chips. The fries and coleslaw were the best part. Crispy and mixed well! The fish had a tasty batter, but the fish was..to fishy? Guess its your preference. The Swedish pancakes were super good. Light, decently fluffy and cooked perfectly. I should have gotten those! Service: Friendly from the moment we walked in. The waitresses that were helping us were attentive and made sure we were taken care of. Even though they were closing soon, they made sure we had what we needed. Price: Basic diner prices. Decent sized menu and a decent selection. Never once was offered more coffee. Service aside- food.....nothing to write home about. Biscuits and gravy- gravy was bland. Eggs and bacon were ok but how do you screw up scrambled eggs and bacon? The world needs to know about the breakfast Burrito at Zini's Diner in Cloverdale. I've had countless breakfast burritos, but this one. Omg. I would have taken a picture but I ate it so fast that I didn't have time to get my phone out for it. But I promise you will be more than beyond satisfied not only is it dazzlingly delicious, it is an ideally suited portion size for more hardy eaters. It has everything an excellent breakfast burrito should have I prefer without sour cream but to each his own.. found my new go to, my old go to was the "short stack special with scrambled eggs and bacon."
