However, the bacalao guisado was a tad saltier than I've had before, which is my only small complaint. It was still quite delicious though. Beans are alright. My family likes the same food, but we do eat other entrees like the awesome soups and steak and chicken and beans and rice and salad.. You can get the idea, we like everything on this menu! I see some Puerto Rican dishes on the menu that I want to try along side of my favorites. I crave the taste, textures, smells, and friendly service. Ok let me start off by saying. I have been on the hunt for a Red Snapper fish for over a week now. I was so glad to come upon this place. The Snapper was fried the way I like it. It came with rice and a salad. I like the ingredients they use to make the salad. It was a combination of shredded cabbage, red and green peppers. Carrots and tomatoes with the dressing already blended in. Not sure what they used but it was tasteful. It also came with a side of red beans sauce. My fish also came with it's own red pepper sauce. It was delicious! The plantains was nice and ripe. Which is the way I like it. My husband enjoyed his seafood platter as well. Actually I enjoyed everything that I endured. I placed my order online. Yum! I've been craving Dominican food for sometime not realizing this restaurant is 10 minutes from me right outside of Columbia. Today I had the chicken soup for lunch. For dinner rice and beans, and a order of tostones (twice fried green plaintains). The soup is bursting with flavor and the chicken falls right off the bone. My daughter is 100% responsible for the 2nd trip. She requested to go for dinner after trying the soup. Next on the list is the Sancocho my absolute favorite. The first time I came to Cazabe I wasn't sure what to expect. My significant other said, "It's a hidden gem". He also has a basic palate. One meal and it has been our weekly date place For the last 10 years. It has also changed my opinion on his palate. He knows flavor. He is just selective. The staff are so friendly and attentive without hovering. Busy days, less busy days. Doesn't matter. The food is delicious, the staff are amazing. The owner makes a point of visiting the tables and thanking you for your patronage. His daughter is also a staff member. It is a true family business that treats the patrons like extended family. My personal suggestions are the Bistec, Gambas and margaritas. Hubby says fajitas. You can't go wrong with real street tacos! read more

Today I had a rough night, and I decided I needed a drink. Being that it is Tuesday, I was searching for a place that offered taco Tuesday. Although this restaurant did not have any specials, they did not disappoint. The restaurant was almost SPOTLESS! The bathroom was fresh and clean. The drinks were inexpensive but flavorful. The food was very tasty! I opted for Tex-Mex, being that I was in the mood for tacos. I ended up getting the fajitas which were delicious! My total bill only came to 30 bucks, and I had a full-size to go back! I did try the pastelitos, They were great as well. Next time I come back, I will try they are paella or other Latin dishes. I dont ever leave yelp reviews, but I see they have been bombed lately, dont believe it, delicious food, welcoming staff (though weekday evenings don't always have English speaking staff), service is quick and friendly, parking is beyond "easy", I know it has a hole-in-the-wall quality, but it is an amazing and largely undiscovered gem, try it once you'll see. I have driven by this place hundreds of times and finally decided to stop in to give it a try. I came in on a Friday night and it wasn't too crowded. It has an address on Washington Blvd but you actually have to turn onto Guilford road to get into the parking lot. The lot is a decent size with plenty of parking rather close to the entrance. The building looks a little older but maintained pretty well. The decor is hmm I really don't have any words to describe it. The interior is pretty small. On to the most important part of the actual meal and service. I would be lying if I said I could spell or pronounce what Ordered but it was great. Having been here 3 years ago and having a horrible experience, I was delighted to be pleasantly surprised by our delicious dining experience last night. Good Dominican food is hard to find outside of NY, GA and Miami and Cazabe was way up there with some of the best home cooked meals I've had at the hands of Dominican moms and grandmas and that is a very high ranking. Goat with arroz con gandules (Dominican version of rice and peas) was on point! It tasted like it had been cooking all day (in a very good flavorful and tender way!) rice had flavor and tasted fresh. We got tostones, ripe plantains and side of avocado... 'cause you can't have good food without avocado :) Hubby got chicharrón de pollo (fried hard chicken pieces) he was pleased with the flavor and portion. White rice with side of beans hit the spot for him and sealed the flavor town deal. My mom, old-time world renounced (in her mind) food critic had mondongo (beef tripe) now if you don't eat tripe then you don't but if you do you know how hesitant you can get when you see it on a menu, you crave it but you wonder... and she thought about it for a while and went for it... people my whole table got quiet when that plate arrived, she saw it, smelled and stirred for what seemed to be 10 minutes (more like 5 seconds but still) she did the taste test and savored. She said nothing and for my mom that is a lot!!! I knew she liked it when she got some more and poured it on top of her rice... we smiled and devoured our meal! I only took away 1 star because they forgot our salads but honestly we didn't miss it cause the food was banging and because my mom ordered a morir soñando, a Dominican drink made of orange juice and evaporated milk, and she said it was not authentic but in flavor was ok. Good thing to highlight, they also serve some classic Mexican dishes. My son had shrimp fajitas that were huge and good flavor. The kids had nachos and taquitos and it was gone quickly So I guess it was good (go figure!) If you go on the weekend in the evening there is a nightclub on the other side of the restaurant, bachata was good the whole time we were there. It felt festive and it reminded me of being back in Panama. I look forward returning to try the gambas al ajillo. read more

This has been my 4th time visiting this establishment and I'm never disappointed. During COVID they adhered to social distancing and disposable plates and utensils which was a nice and thoughtful touch. The place is decorated like a restaurant you would see in any Caribbean country. The colorful decor and the true to life rooster perched on the hut didn't go unnoticed. The restaurant also has a bar area with a small dance floor and great Latin music playing as you dine. The staff is very pleasant and you might even get the owner to stop by and say hello. The food is plentiful and delicious. The menu consists of appetizers, poultry, seafood, desserts and drinks. I personally have enjoyed the Salmon. First time visiting Cazabe for some Dominican cuisine. It was very empty at 12:05 pm. Should have been a clue but I ignored that and sat down. No pictures of dishes in the menu or collateral material should have been another clue. After reviewing the extensive menu, I ordered the chicken pastelitos (chicken patties) and yucca frita (fried cassava to us Caribbean people) to start with. I got passion fruit from their Natural juice selections. I debated between the rotisserie chicken or Chicharron De Pollo (marinated fried chicken on the menu). I opted for the marinated fried chicken with rice and beans based on the description. Server came back to check infrequently even though there were no other patrons. Spanish music playing softly in the background was nice. Décor was interesting. Between the yucca and the two large pastelitos, water and passion fruit juice I was getting full by the time my food came out. I did not expect the chicken to look like it did. The chicken was small crispy pieces with bones in them. I ate a few pieces and noted the fat was not trimmed from the meat before frying. I could not tell what the marinade was. I ate the rice and beans which were good but I could not finish the dry chicken. If this is how Dominicans do marinated fried chicken, I will pass. I may not be back to this place again or I may re-visit to try their rotisserie chicken to compare to Peruvian rotisserie chicken which I enjoy. read more

Probably driven past this place a million times, and never even paid attention to the name. So when I saw the pictures of how good the food looked on yelp, I was surprised when I pulled up. I came with the family around lunch time on the weekend, and there was only us for a good part of the meal. However the food was actually really good, and out server was really nice. I can actually say that I have been to a bunch of other places serving similar cuisine, that are far worse then Cazabe, but probably do more business. Not sure what the deal is with this place, but i'm guessing location (though they are on a corner lot on rte.1) Whatever the case may be, I was definitely impressed with the food, and will definitely be coming back for more Chivo Guisado. read more

Cazabe is different, if stuffed dead animals freak you out, sit as close to the exit as possible! We spotted a rooster on a make-shift house (the bar) and a deer that was not only mounted on the wall, but so were his hooves-now that I've never seen. When we decided to head out to Jessup, for the haunted house, we were like what do we do here, only thing most people know about Jessup is the jail. Cazabe is a Dominican restaurant with a full bar and Spanish Karaoke on Saturday nights. Interestingly enough around 9pm hardly no one was in here, we weren't sure if there was a special night or what? But the food wasn't too bad, I had this shrimp in creamy garlic sauce--the sauce was too milky, although I must say the shrimp were fresh. The plantains were good, but it was the Patron margarita that got the party started. So what do I do next? Make my way to the back lounge and dance to the quirky Spanish ballad this old guy was belting out. Glad I was able to find another restaurant that was open after 11 because I couldn't get a drink or a menu when I came here last night. Turns out, they don't serve African Americans here.After 3 attempts to get a drink, I asked my other friends if they had trouble getting a drink at the bar and they expressed the same concerns- the bar tender refused to serve them.
