Tonight was a dissapointment. Walked in to the dining room in good spirits with my neice and cousin who I havent seen in a while. To be turned away because they close at 10. We walked in at 9:35. Employee who turned us away was Denzelle. She immediately yells accross the restraunt "WE CLOSE AT 10!". No hello. No welcome. Then continued to tell us we can go to the takeout counter to order our food. This was the most unprofessional interaction Ive ever had at Zippys Ewa. We go here quite often, and are usually welcomed by warm smiles and aloha. Spoke with the manager on duty. She immediately went over to the dine-in area and addressed the issue by stating 10 o Clock is 10 o clock. She also expressed her appreciation to my mom for letting her know, and assured us that their emplyees are taught that even though someone comes in at 10 o Clock on the dot, they should still seat them. Above all the most dissapointing was not being able to share a meal with my cousin that hasnt eaten at Zippys for years because shes been away in the mainland. She specifically asked to eat at Zippys because thats where our Papa would take us as kids. It was definitely dissapointing for her. But shes still in high spirits. Were at home right now eating our takeout on the dining room table. Its not the same as dining in at the restraunt though. Mahalo to the Manager. I've been coming to this location for a very long time and never really thought to review it because the service was always like this and I guess we've come to accept VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I arrived and stood in the order line. Clearly it was busy and several employees see me standing in the order line waiting to order. Not one said anything like hang on we will be right with you or just a moment. No acknowledgement what so ever. Then one of the workers 1021-Emily came to the register with an attitude clearly not happy at all. I understand food service is hard but you are in a SERVICE JOB. After I ordered my food I suppose it was too inconvenient to hand me my receipt and throwing it to me on the counter was more sufficient and catered to her mood. All the workers look irritated, overworked, frustrated, and uninviting. This is definitely a hostile environment for the workers and customers. I went to Ewa Beach Zippy's right after work to pick up a cake for my sister since Today's her 27th birthday, I don't know if I sounded muffled considering the fact that I wear double mask but I'm pretty sure the cashier who helped me heard me clearly since she whispered to the girl who was in charge of the bakery what I wanted written on the cake. I found it kind of strange how they showed the person before me their cake before closing the box, but they didn't show me the cake they've done for me. I grew up with Zippy's and overtime their portions get smaller and their pricing gets higher. This is a good area to eat but sometimes you struggle looking for parking. Their drive-thru line can get pretty backed up as well, I always see it lined up on the side of 711. Customer service is a hit or miss, you get bad ones but at the same time there are amazing servers! Recommendations: Breakfast - Breakfast Sandwich: egg, Portuguese sausage/ spam (your choice), and cheese omelet in a sandwich. Lunch - Korean Chicken Plate or Chili Frank Plate Dinner - the famous Zip Pac or Surf Pac: difference is that the surf pac has an extra chicken opposed to having the fish strip. Also, their chicken in their bentos are sometimes dry (you can tell it was just chillin under the warmer), never used to deal with this problem before. Sometimes they don't add frutakaki on your rice on the bento pac's, make sure you tell them to include it or they won't! First time here dining at the restaurant, and found it to be nice and spacious. We had to meet a friend at this particular location which is what brought us here. Parking lot got full, but we got lucky and didn't take long to find a parking right up front. I was surprised that the restaurant was only half full and only one other party waiting to get seated. It took about 15+ minutes to get seated, and about another 15 minutes for our waitress to finally come to our table. We were told after placing our order that they are backed up in the kitchen, and the wait will be a while, even though we ordered only a club sandwich to split. We actually didn't mind because we were early in meeting my friend. We finally get our sandwich and it is delicious, at this point we have been sitting at the table for an hour, and both tables next to us that were uncleared when we first got in, still wasn't cleaned? As we walked and waited outside for my friend we noticed the drive thru was extremely busy, I seem to believe this is where their priority is? Working till late at night sometimes you want something more than just McDonald's and Denny's so tonight my girlfriend and I decided to pay a visit to Zippy's. They have 2 sections to the restaurant. Dining area or takeout. Personally I love dining in anywhere I go so of course this was what I decided to do. We were sat promptly by the host who dropped by menus. The tables and the menus were both pretty damp which was kind of a turn off. It came to a point where the pages were even sticking together. Table still had residue from whoever cleaned it so hopefully they wipe up better next time. Got the Chilli & Chicken mixed plate and Chicken Katsu with gravy. Love how you can modify the orders here. When Zippy's first brought back the famous burrito with chili, there were multiple instances where something went wrong. Each time, I called to speak with the manager on duty to explain the issue, which was always something different, they were very understanding and empathic to the situation. Their customer service consistently exceeded my expectations and made me a satisfied customer, despite the initial disappointment. I'm happy to report that in the last 6 or so visits, there were no issues with the food and whatever issues they were having, seemed to have worked itself out. You'll receive a text message when your table is ready. Upon arrival, they check your temperature. When sitting, keep your mask on unless actively eating/drinking. They now have shield on the top sides of the booths for added protection... The service was typical during the visit. Our family ordered two zipmins with the shrimp tempura on the side so it doesn't get soggy. It arrived inside and soggy. The waitress said she'd get us new ones and never did... it is what it is. Our experiences at this Zippy's have only been for their counter breakfast service not the full-service side. We usually come here to grab a quick bite before heading to a tee time out in the Ewa Beach area. The food is consistent in its preparation, flavors and presentation. Service has always been friendly and quick. On the morning of December 28th, we came into the restaurant around 7:30 AM. As soon as the doors slid open, we were cheerfully greeted by the two female workers. They wore great smiles and eagerly assisted us. After placing our order, we received an order number and took a seat. Within minutes, our number was called and our order for the Portuguese sausage breakfasts came out hot and fresh! We like that they offered a choice of rice (white or brown) or toast (white or wheat) with the meal. I'd like to commend the breakfast crew for their friendly and expeditious service. When you have two sleeping kids in the car, you don't wanna be loading them up in the stroller just to pick up your food inside. I called ahead of time, and twenty minutes or so later I was pulling up to the window in my car to pickup my food. It's Zippy's so it's hard to differentiate one from another. Tonight our family decided to sit down in the restaurant for some dessert and ended up having the best experience we've ever had at a Zippy's. Seriously, ever! Our waitress was a lovely young woman named Jadelyn and she was the sweetest, most cheerful person. From the time she greeted us with her warm smile to the last good-bye, her demeanor and her attitude was kind,sweet and helpful. She didn't just do her job exceptionally well, but she is just an exceptional person through and through. After she gave us great service, she saw my little girls ask to take their pictures home. I had told them no and said I'd take a picture of it instead. After they posed for their pictures, Jadelyn asked them if she could post their artwork on the wall. My daughters were so amazed to see their artwork on the wall behind the hostess stand where everyone could see it. They are still absolutely amazed! This girl needs a raise! Jadelyn, you are a gem! Honestly, you can't go wrong with Zippys. I first tried Zippy's back in 2011 when I first visited Hawai'i with my family. I knew this place was going to be a go-top spot whenever I visit. Korean Fried Chicken 5/5: Crispy, tender chicken, coated in a sweet savory sauce. Pairs so well with their rice and mac salad. I love this chicken so much Spaghetti with meat sauce 3/5: Not bad, they add lots of sauce on top of the noodles and serve it with garlic bread. Loco moco 4/5: I love loco moco, so anytime I get it I always enjoy it! Cheeseburger 3/5: Just your average cheeseburger, nothing to rave too much about. Cheap burger, decent quality. My family likes eating Zippys but they have the worst customer service especially the younger generation. From the last two visits I literally had to wait so long to just pick up my online order. They should have a line for specifically order pick ups like other places. Anyways last 2 visits I was second in line, I guess they prefer talking stories with their customers then helping the next customer or at least tell the other workers not doing anything to help assist the next customer. On my recent visit there was an aunty already assisting a customer. I get it the customer wanted to talk stories but what annoyed me is that there were 3 other people behind the counter. They all saw I was waiting in line but instead of asking if I needed help they had there backs towards me waiting for the staff in the kitchen to bring food up through that little window. So glad that they finally opened for dine in after months! I love the set up that they have with plexi glass on all the tables so that we don't have much contact with other people. It looks so much cleaner inside. Before dining it, you do have to sign in and make a reservation online. You can do that before, or they have a huge QR code right at the entrance of the door. Left side of the restaurant is more of a wiki wiki take-out side furnished with wooden benches and clean tables. My family and I were looking for a place to eat on Easter. I had been wanting to eat here because I figured Zippys is everywhere and it must be good. People swear by the chili. It's advertised as a great family restaurant with something for everyone from fried chicken to a club sandwich. We ordered the 9 piece fried chicken meal deal with Mac salad and rice. We also bought sphagetti with garlic bread and a side of chili. Came to about $40. The chicken was a 10/10. Nice salty flavor, crispy and not overwhelmingly fatty. They were all thighs. The rice is great, it's the soft white rice. The Mac salad was okay, not my favorite. The chili was good but not great. It's located on fort weaver road. Right off the freeway. There also another one pretty close in Waipahu. I really like this place for a legit family meal without breaking the bank. I have to try next doors napoleon bakery next time. read more

Honestly, I'm getting a little tired of Zippy's food, but it's the workers that make this location worth coming back for. The restaurant is chilly so bring a jacket if you're cold blooded. Wifi is spotty too. The waitresses all know my son's weekly order of plain saimin with fish cake, two slices of garlic bread and POG. Yep, not very nutritional and no veggies. I usually get the Korean Chicken or Chicken Katsu, but I've been changing it up by getting the Clubhouse sandwich, Zip Min or roast turkey. This review is NOT about the food, but rather their customer service; because their food is good :) On three different occasions all between 4:30am - 6:00am I have tried for 45 minutes straight (all three times) to place an order for pickup. The first time (since my commute to work takes that long) I tried calling and received no answer, I figured they were really busy with customers. When I arrived to the restaurant, it was slow with one customer in line. I assumed they were really busy prior to my arrival. The second time everything was the same.... 45 minutes and nobody answered, nobody in line when I arrived... The third time........ no surprise..... no answer.... but this time I decided to call again while inside the restaurant. Hah!!! The phone rings.....'staff standing around and no attempt to answer the phone. All three times I ordered my food, the wait was long averaging 15-20 minutes: considering none, one, or two customers ahead of me. Zippys got my grandma's order wrong and the manager Domique did nothing to make it right. My grandma asked for all rice but she got mac salad. The hamburger was burnt, the gravy was salty and the food was cold. Dominique offered no solution and showed no sympathy to my grandmother. She would rather give us corporates number then take the food back. We are very disappointed with the customer service that was provided. I highly recommend you don't order from this location. So my friends family wanted to know if I wanted anything cause they were going to Zippy's and I was like ok lemme try one more time (cause it's been awhile) so they said the spaghetti is good and I love pasta things. It's hard to mess up tbh. Now I am a chef myself.... this "sauce" is clearly chili. Usually when you have a spaghetti sauce you can easily make it a chili sauce but it was clear this sauce on my pasta was meant to be chili. I HATED IT. Also I got this with the fried chicken (it was ok) and it came with Mac salad.... I didn't want it.... the person at this location wouldn't let me take my food without taking the Mac so I got it on the side but they really were being extra. Zippys is your local Hawaii style diner. Location: This Zippys is located next to 7-11 and Tesoro before you enter Ewa Villages. The entrance and exit is poorly designed. Two ways to get in and out of this complex area. The only way to enter coming from all the way in Ewa is by Tesoro. If you exit the same way you came in, you'd have to go inside Ewa Villages just to make a U turn back to the main road. It's easier to enter and exit this area from the main road. (-1 star) Food: I like that there is a dining in side, take out side and the bakery. I normally order from the take out side. My favorite items on the menu are Zip Pac, Korean Fried Chicken, Fried Saimin, No Bean Chili and their "Infamous" Fried Chicken. I've ate here for breakfast as well. I had French toast, egg, Portuguese sausage and fried rice and my husband had the chili cheese omelet. He loves the chili cheese omelet from here. Seating Area: There is a good amount of seating in the dine in and take out section. Sometimes it gets crowded depending on what time you go but there's always somewhere to sit. Staff: No complaints on the staff. They seem to have enough staff. Nice mix of old timers and newbies.
