I grew up here and make it a point to stop by my childhood favorite fast food spot. Had a great time introducing my husband to Zip's tonight. Food was spot on and just like I remembered it, staff friendly, fries were hot and perfect, and they had Heart jamming in the dining room. Love this place! read more

Pulled into the drive-thru at 8:55 and the open sign was on and as we pull up to the speaker they shut off the open light and said they close at 9 even though we were there before 9 and online it said they close at 9:30 read more

The food is okay but not outstanding. Their fries are pretty good if you're lucky enough to get a fresh batch. The tartar sauce is great; it earned the place one of the two stars I've given it. The big standout about this Zip's location is that they consistently have very, very slow drive-through times -- if it's not lunch hour, expect to be sitting at the window for 15-25 minutes (no joke). Employees are also an issue; their attitudes range from completely disinterested to full-out rude. This afternoon, for example, I was last in line at the drive-through, and the woman taking my order interrupted me multiple times, truncated my order because she kept cutting me off, then slammed the drive-through door in my face when I politely asked if she could add an item to my order that she had missed due to her interruptions. All of this because she was busy gossipping with a coworker and seemed to deeply resent having to *gasp* serve customers. Sadly, this is not the first time I've had service of this caliber at this Zip's location. As someone who really likes to support locally-owned businesses, I've given this place plenty of chances in the hopes that I had just stopped by on bad days. However, I'm done now. If you are looking for a local burger chain that is nearly an institution, look no further than Zip's. This location is my favorite. Their burgers have a distinct and good flavor, their crinkle fries are fantastic, and they have Pepsi soft drinks, what could be better? The tarter sauce is great with fries and their new fry sauce is even better. I like to get their double cheeseburger or the Wrangler when I stop by. read more

I have been out of town for a few years, but always craving that taste I grew up around, and can't seem to satisfy around my current home location. When I finally made it to my old stomping grounds to visit family and friends over the holidays, I HAD to stop in for a bite! I had the chicken sandwich, which is breaded whole chicken breast, with lettuce, Zip's famous tartar sauce, and added tomato, it's like the good old days again! I also had the papa joe, which has a fresh, never frozen, 100% ground beef hamburger patty, ham, mayo, lettuce, cheese, and it too brought back those memories after the football games at RHS. I did not find the burger lacking quantity or flavor, it was just as good as I remember from the 90's. I had a side of French fries, which was steaming hot, and clean tasting, I can tell they change their oil frequently. I devoured them with the amazing tartar sauce, I don't know why their tartar is so good, but I only eat fries this way here. So good! The thing is, not only was the food hot and fresh, but the service was friendly, and efficient. The place on the outside, could use a facelift, but it was pretty cool coming back after all these years and seeing the same interior as I remembered, for me, this was a nostalgic journey of every sense, sight, sound, smell, taste. It did not disappoint! It's really great when a place doesn't change, and continues to provide great products and services consistently. Sure, the prices are more expensive than they used to be, but that's life. I know wages have gone up over the years, hell, even a gallon of milk is more expensive than it used to be, fortunately, I'm no longer earning $4.25 an hour, so I guess it all works out in the wash! Before leaving the area I had to stop in again and say goodbye, not exactly sure how long it will be until I can make it back. I had a fishwich added tomato, which is a fried cod fillet, tartar, and lettuce. Perfection on a bun. I also had the French dip, which is another one of my favorites, sliced roast beef in a grilled French roll, with a side of Au Jus for dipping, I also had an order of breaded mushrooms, which was really great also. And the tartar sauce for dipping. I gave a star for each category; 1-Staff/Customer Service 2-Cost or Value 3-Speed 4-Quality 5-Consistency This place has always been a local gem, and continues to satisfy now, as it did in the past. Keep up the good work, I have never been disappointed with the product or service at Zip's on Lee Blvd.! The thing I like the best here, is over all these years, Zip's has managed to do what so many are unable to. Their product is fresh, not kept in a holding steam table, but every order is cooked to order. They set the standards to what I feel a family burger joint is all about, and ought to be. The quality definitely isn't worth the price. The hamburger patties are paper thin, the soda has no flavor, and the burgers lack any flavor whatsoever. The milkshakes also taste like Nesquick mixed with ice cream. Definitely not a place I would recommend spending your money at. read more

I have been eating at zips since I was a kid. When I moved to the Seattle area going back to visit, Zips was a must. We were there LAST Monday evening and boy was I disappointed! Papa Jo is what I always get. I would have just as well had a McDonald's burger....blech! Customer service has really gone down hill over the past few years too. Too bad, it's always been a Richland fave, right along with the Spudnut Shop. I won't plan on going to Zips next time. Too bad. read more

Zips gets 1 star for having unreasonably priced, subpar food and what seems to be the worst customer service in the tri cities. I refuse to eat a burger from here as it is usually an unsatisfactory mess thrown onto a bun. Today, when I went in to get my burritos, as another customer pulled up I heard the employees complaining about people coming inside instead of using the drive thru! Ok. If you read reviews on Yelp, people are expecting a new restaurant and 2/3 of a pound of meat that was made from questionable sources. This is not a Burger King or McD's. This is Zips. For over 25 years, I have been going to Zips. Every time I go by one, I feel a need for a Papa Joe and a Pepsi. From Spokane, to Cheney, to Ritzville, to Richland, this is a staple of comfort food. When I go to any Zips, I expect to see a restaurant that hasn't changed for 50 years. I expect my burgers with grease and my tub of fries with a whole bunch of fry sauce. This place is the best! If you're going to go to Zips in the Tri-Cities, the best one to go to is the Zips on 1756 Fowler St, Richland, WA 99352, near Chucky Cheese and the mall. I can say, it is a little run down, but not like the other two (400 E Columbia Dr, Kennewick, WA 99336, 1123 Lee Blvd Richland, WA 99352). There are quite a few differences between the Kennewick one by the Cable Bridge (downtown Kennewick) and the Richland one by the mall and Chucky Cheese; the Richland one by Chucky Cheese has three different size options, they allow fountain drink options, which means refills, if you're a milk shake fan, they offer bananas in milkshakes and have a unique variety of milkshakes, they have fry sauce, and the food seems to be more fresh and crisp. The last time I went to the Kennewick one by the Cable Bridge, I felt sick and they messed up our order. My favorite of the burgers is the classic Salad Burger, which has two meat patties, shredded lettuce, tomato, pickles, and mayo on a toasted bun, which is fairly decent in price. My husband enjoys their famous Papa Joe, which I have to admit is quite good, and good in price too, worth the money, he also enjoys their corn dogs. The French fries, tater tots and onion rings are always crisp and delicious. Also, the food is not nearly as greasy as say McDonalds and you definitely get good quality food for right around the same price. I most definitely recommend Zips anytime, and can say that don't judge all of the Zips based on one place, try out all three locations in the Tri-Cities and find out yourself, the difference. read more

Although I'll admit this fast-food restaurant has great burgers, I have to say I quit going because of their consistently poor customer service. It's sad because I have loved going there since i was a kid. Their fries are the best and their tartar sauce is one of my favorites. But for me and my husband, going out to eat is not just about the meal, but the atmosphere. It's always dirty in there and I don't think anything has been updated since the 80's. I used to frequent the drive-thru once in a while just hoping "this time will be different". But, to my disappointment, the employees are never happy to take your order, take your money, or give you your food. It's been a VERY long time since I've gotten a simple smile, a "hello, how are you?" or a simple thank you. I decided to never "try again" for one of these simple requests. I read the other reviews after dining at Zip's. Their food is okay. The hamburger was small and on the thin side and I ordered their Super Burger. It came with lettuce and tomato no mayonnaise ketchup or mustard. I could have gotten a Whopper at Burger King that tasted 10 times better. Their fries were very hot but not cooked long enough. The fry sauce was awesome! Their coffee is okay, but they had no liquid creamer, the only had the dry packets of Kramer. The guy that waited on me at the counter said they quit carrying the liquid creamer because they would only go through a third of a case and have to throw the rest out. That was disappointing! Who likes powdered creamer in their coffee when you can get the real thing? Their dining tables are filthy! There is a grease buildup on them that I scratched off with my fingernail. They need to use some ammonia water and a scrubby to scrub those tables. Those tables have been scrubbed in years with the amount of buildup that's on them. They keep their mop buckets to where the public can see them, in back of the burger board,yuck!!!!! The place has not been updated since the 1970s, you would think that a local business would want to keep up, so that way they would attract more customers as well as repeat customers. Over all their food was okay, it was overpriced, not sure I'll be going back anytime soon. read more

All I have to say is yikes. Can barely give one star. Let alone, the whole place smelled horrid, the seats were very worn and the staff looked less than hygienic. Plus the cashier was googly eyeing me the whole time... one star just for the fries.. which weren't even amazing. It's a good thing the fries are good because the service is awful. I went here recently for a fast snack but it was anything but quick. While there was a line of about 3 cars in the drive thru, no customers were inside the restautant. Another customer and I came in at about the same time and there were three employees behind the counter. The other customer placed her order first and it took way beyond the standard time to get her order (a tea and a water) to her. Once the other customer left, I wasn't even acknowledged. No hello, no I'll be with you in a minute. NOTHING. Two of the three employees went towards the back while the third busied herself with straightening napkins. (Apparently paper goods deserve more attention than paying customers) Not a single word to me. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt so I just waited, assuming they had something else that needed their immediate attention. During my wait another customer entered and the napkin straightener almost immediately greeted her. Thankfully the other customer acknowledged me and said I was there first. The employee then took my order and tossed my fries across the counter to me. How disappointing! Like I said, thank goodness the fries are good because the customer service needs A LOT work. read more

i eat here all the time. Often the service is understaffed and the supervisors are barely alive, but the food is always good. The best part about Zip's is the sauce. it is what has always set them apart, and this zips has the best. always order extra and enjoy a great burger. read more

This tri city local chain is great. Its the only fast food joint i still go too. The customer service is lacking though with snooty little girl at the front register and the guys flipping burgers in the back look like they would mug me if i was in a dark ally. The girl at the drive up window was nice though. They throw handfuls of condiments in the bags in the drive through, way more then I know what to do with. read more

Have loved Zips for years, tartar sauce is epic! However, the Richland location has been steadily going down hill. Tonight was the last straw. I'm willing to give anyone the benefit of the doubt if an order is not up to snuff or something is forgotten, but this is the third time we have gotten cold burgers and double dipped fries (take old fries and redip them in oil to heat them back up) enough is enough, management is obviously cutting corners. I don't know what half the people here on this review are talking about Zips is always good. Maybe the customer service can use a training refresher or just pay them well and they will smile more. What i don't like is the fact that every time i go there its jamed packed predominantly of white people that give me a racist look.
