Good stuff. Staff's a little...weird. Doesn't totally know the stock, which is fine, but there's slight attitude. Not a big deal. Then, after I got my order ready, the attendant specifically and randomly suggested I buy a product that can help with "dark spots and sagging under the eyes". Oh my lord. Speaking as a former model who is used to assessing my looks - good and bad - objectively, dark spots under the eyes has not really been my issue but I had to admire the gentleman's ability to create an insecurity in a person and leverage that to make a sale. It was masterful. I would suggest a less abrupt pivot in the future as it was the abruptness of the pitch that made me question the motive. And also that made it kinda rude. Solid selection of pedicure stuff which is why I came, though. A bit more of a markup than usual, but that's probably to pay for the extra rude/weird thing. Retaining talent like that can be expensive. read more

Could be the best, most authentic pharmacy in NYC. Besides the fact that the store is something out of a 70s Fay Dunnaway NYC film (which is worth seeing in itself) they have absolutely everything along with one of a kind and hard to find products. Zitomers is the best of its kind. read more

I've never been inside this store (so I can't attest to the in-person customer service) but my experience over the phone was terrible. I spoke to various employees and each was ruder than the next (in fact, I got hung up on once for no apparent reason). We have been clients of Zitomer for many years and I was surprised to hear that when our housekeeper went to pick something up for us and asked for a receipt the girl behind the counter, Catherine, threw it at her very rudely and degrading. I would appreciate if this is taken into consideration and corrected as no one deserves to be treated like that. read more

Larry in pharmacy is disgusting. My employee called in prescriptions for refill today. I heard every word, the phone was on speaker. My employee had all the necessary info on hand & gave it to him as he asked. His tone was angry and hostile and on the verge of yelling. He berated her. Told her he had other calls waiting and was closing soon. She was giving him the info as fast as she could and accurately. Zitomer management: Larry can't handle the stress of the job and treats customers like they are garbage. Maybe you should give him some time off? I had such a weird experience here. I was looking for a couple of birthday presents -- you know the kind: small, but meaningful; something you know the person will really like. This takes time! This one SA kept watching me and finally she did that weird double finger point at her eyes and then pointed to me and said, "I'm watching you." I have not been back since. read more

Zitomer Pharmacy knew something was sketchy when my ex-therapist kept prescribing drugs under my name with ridiculous amounts of painkillers. Did they tell me? No. It was only years after the fact when I came in investigating the situation on a hunch, did they say "we knew something was up..." Thanks for calling. I haven't been in there for 10 years and I've got a drug sheet they were well aware of a mile long. I called the police only to be asked why I did so. Seriously, it's criminal. read more

I'm sure that this pharmacy/drug store/beauty bar/toy store has most of what the upper east side resident is looking for. They do have a wonderful selection at equally fantastic prices and the staff is usually helpful. However, don't bother trying to call in to check on a prescription. I waited for 5.5 minutes until someone finally hung up on m. I tried again and gave up after 7 minutes. On my third call, I asked for the manager and learned that the medicine I had ordered for delivery at 12PM was "probably" on its' way. (It is now 4:30) I don't know about where you come from but for me, that is NOT good service. read more

This is definitely an eclectic pharmacy. There's a limit on the makeup brands they sell but that's not all the store is. Did you know that Calvin Klein makes that many different shades and styles of nylons? Now I do. And I love it. They've recently moved things around so that kids stuff is on the third floor and women's accessories are on the second floor. The first floor remains makeup and a pharmacy and is my go to place for hard to find items like those brushes we used to use all those years ago before Conair brushes were all that was carried anyplace. There a interesting little items and the kids section is a little less fun than it was previously, it used to have more clothing but it does have interesting little accessories and things. Some of the prices can be a bit high but solely on the unique and hard to find items I do really like Zitomers. read more

The selection at this Upper East Side classic is sure to delight, with everything from Cle de Peau Beaute and Chanel makeup, Kiehl's and Molton Brown toiletries, "travel jewelry" , to a huge assortment of my favorite Made-in-France tortoiseshell clips. There is also a curiously large selection of headbands in every color imaginable in multiple fabrications. Prices are high and the store itself is a bit outdated, but the selection is awesome, which makes Zitomer a fun place to browse and buy. If you're ever in this part of town, you HAVE to come here. Ladies, maybe leave the men at home cause you'll want to be here for a while, everything is cramped into this small retail space but they maximize every nook and cranny to fit lots of goodies so it takes time to find your treasures. You can get a makeup makeover, candles, perfume, hair accessories, etc. It's pretty high end too so to have a real good time, get ready to drop some dough. Relentlessly tried to find any children's book store open @ 7:30 AND Zitomer was the BEST. They have an awesome collection of children books (an entire THIRD floor just dedicated to Children's) to the point I couldn't decided. I can't wait to go back to shop for myself. Also, they added a second floor if women's clothing, accessories & more. I needed a cream that I simply cannot find in Los Angeles. Unsure if Zitomer delivers to LA, I walked to Madison to find Zitomer not far from the priciest boutiques selling shoes, purses and, sadly, fur. I walked in and browsed for only a minute or two but not finding what I wanted, I asked a man standing near the counter for a product. He then called a lady who took me to where it was located. They didn't have both products but only one, the last one, in a slightly damaged box. She apologized for the box's state and offered 10% off which I promptly accepted. If my suitcase had any more space for a few bottles of lotions and creams and all kinds of goodies for skin and body, I would have spent a couple hours (and a few hundreds of dollars) at Zitomer. read more

I stop here on the way to my gym for a liter of Poland Spring on Saturday mornings. There's never a line and they charge $2.25 which is not a bad price compared to the bagel place around the corner. Looks like it might be a fun store to shop around in for beauty - very old school feel. read more

The one star is for the interesting merchandise they have. The four they didn't get are for Ari, the rudest person I've experienced in quite some time. I tried to exchange a purchase from yesterday and he said no, because of NYS law (?), and even if that's true, THERE IS NO NEED TO BE RUDE. I'm the first to review Zitomer!? Surprising considering the notoriety of this place. Zitomer is what Us Weekly's "Stars, They're Just Like Us!" section is all about. In case you didn't know, this is the pharmacy to the celebrities and socialites of New York. Famed for their discretion, this is where your average Sean Penn, Julia Roberts, or Rockefeller heir gets a prescription filled when they're in NY. Beyond the amazing gossip I got from a friend who used to work here: "SHE'S on Zoloft!? Really? I guess it was the break-up, huh? That makes so much sense" - the place has quite a fabulous selection of products. The staff is very old school New York - courteous and pleasant old white guys who've been doing this for years and actually enjoy it. The minus one star is for the prices. This is decidedly an Upper East Side pharmacy on Madison Ave. Need I say more? I bought deodorant here once and I think it cost a full $1.50 more than it would have at Duane Reade. But still, it's fun to roam around and see who walks through the door. It might just be the person on the cover of the Vanity Fair you're reading in the back... read more

I've used Zitomer to fill prescriptions for years. They often are rude and seem quite unconcerned about my health or basic courtesy. After repeated episodes of discourteousness, disorganization and actually lying to me, I decided to take my business elsewhere. Feels good to be rid of them. read more

I love this store! It's a real convenience to have such an assortment of items that one would need in one place. Aside from the pharmacy, they sell high-end makeup and skin care, luxurious perfumes and scented candles, all at the same prices you would pay in a department store. There are 3 floors,(the first as already described), one for children, and another for ladies (lounge wear, undergarments, accessories -- this store sells tons of accessories). The staff are very helpful, especially in makeup. The staff do hover over you a bit, but I suspect that is because, as in so many other stores, they have people stealing things (especially small items, like hair accessories), so they have to keep an close eye on everyone. Whenever I walk into a store and sense that, I immediately ask a salesperson if they will hold any shopping bag I am carrying behind the counter for me so I can shop more freely. They seem to relax a bit more after that. Anyway, I highly recommend this store! read more

I freaking love this place ... My Doctor sent a prescription to this pharmacy and it wasn't all that close to my house, but let me tell you it was WORTH it!!! The pharmacy staff helped me in verifying my insurance but that isn't even the best part ... Don't get me wrong that was totally awesome but the selection in this store is incredible... I don't even know where to begin ... I ended up making three more purchases besides my prescriptions... I could've spent the day in there ... Can't wait to bring my wife here .... sad grew up with this place, always had great customer service. but not sure what has happened of late. very poor service, and ungrateful-annoyed that customers are in the store. pharmacy medicine prices are the same no matter where I fulfill them, and pharmacist elsewhere are just as knowledgeable. As far for the merchandise, if you can get past the perfume stink, why pay 75dollars for a cheaply made polyester scarf where the same item is sold for 5 bucks on the street, cause it was bought it at Zitomers- ' a fool and his money...' and try returning an item purchased the previously day, good luck and a receipt wont be helpful. This use to be a place, but times have changed, and instead of realizing competition has gotten stronger, retaining customers should be their focus, Customer service should improve something this store's management (sic) is not clued in on. Sales staff are angry-rude and pharmacy is sarcastic. Remember folks they are working in a store that without customers they would be out on the street. If they go out of business, doubtful they would be missed; been mis-pronouncing this store name all these years. appears the 'Z' should have a 'Sh' sound to it. read more

I was at the Met and my memory card got FULL! None of the shops at the Met sold memory cards (why???) so one of the street vendors suggested that I check at Zitomer for one. I was fully expecting that this place would be WAY over priced- it's in the middle of rich and richer parts of town after all. I was able to find one that was really more than adequate in storage for way less than I was expecting to pay. It was on the secret 3rd floor, too! They've got a ton of toys and games up there! This place has make up that you would expect to find at the mall but also the health and beauty stuff you'd look for at the corner drug store. It's totally something you only would find in a place like NY or London or Madrid or one of the larger cities. Def a spot you need to stop and browse! And you can pick up some Spanx there, too! read more

Four generations of our family have been customers, and we even have a house charge. But it is only a matter of convenience. The pharmacists at Zitomer are the rudest men in any drugstore on the upper east side. And be prepared to be put on hold for an endless wait if you are calling for a refill. They also substitute generics for name-brand, even if you don't want them to. They would not take back a faulty camera they sold us one Christmas. They will tell you a perfume has been discontinued, even when it has not been. read more

This quirky pharmacy always amazes me with it's selection of high-end products. I went in one day shopping for travel accessories for a trip to India and picked up a cute Swiss folding nail clipper to discover it was $75! The helpful clerk directed me to one that was a fraction of the price and nearly as nice - amazing considering if you go to any of the chain stores you won't find anything but cheap junk. I wasn't used to having such a range of options. Who knew? The toy store upstairs has everything from educational items to a tightly curated selection of popular toys. I would say mostly for younger kids although they saved my day one shopping trip when I found they had kites when none of the other toy stores did. I would say come in looking for something, expect to walk out with several more items than you planned to - it's that interesting to browse and find things you didn't know you wanted by somehow always needed. read more
