I paid for a pre-purchase inspection. I never received a receipt or write up. Mat just said the car was in perfect shape and kept saying I would receive it soon. I never did. In the service records from the previous owner, I found the need for a trans service that he noted a dealer had to address, of which never was by the previous owner after. Second visit I had a Service Engine Soon light. He said my turbos were blown, had tons of wastegates rattle (that no one is able to hear) and I would loose my cats due to oil. This was 5k after purchase. I took it for a second opinion. Mechanic found it only had a low pressure fuel sensor issue. Of note, his quote for OEM turbos was close to $1k over what his advertised price was on his website. Stay away from ZNM. Frauds. A gated shop should warn anyone that something fishy is going on. read more

SCAMMMMMMM do not go there. Scammed me out of $1500. His quotes are cheap, but suddenly when he's working on the car there are other issues that NEED to be fixed. Tried to tell me my turbos were shot and to buy new ones through him. I said I'll take it to BMW instead. The next day he calls me and said ITS THE OIL CAP. One is a $15 part, the other is a $2000 job. He changed his lies because he realized he would be caught when I took it to BMW and they would tell me the turbos are fine. Still charged me another $300 to replace the oil cap! AVOID THIS PLACE. read more

100% Stay Away from ZNM Performance (Matt Malave and Elyse Cruz).I opted ZNM to do my Pure Stage 2 turbo install and supporting modifications. My car was in optimal 100% working condition and i was doing this build/service as preemptive maintenance and for fun as my car was still on stock turbos. I dropped my car off 11/4/2017 Shortly after i dropped my car off to ZNM, i got a call stating my cylinder head is no good bc the injector bored through, it was not seated properly. Matt put me in a situation where i had no choice to buy a new "used" cylinder head for $2300, stating that since he already pulled the injector therefore i was at a point of no return and putting it back wasn't an option. I agreed and let him continue the build. It took over 2 months for him to tell me it finally arrived and it was off to to be cleaned. From then on it was a waiting game month by month, excuse after excuse after excuse ensued....every single day/week i would ask for an update and every single time i was given an excuse: boost leak, turbo seals bad (on a brand new turbo), oil leak, weather, missed your call, sent your turbo to get it rebuilt (without even asking me), outlet broke 3 times, ordered again 3 times, ECU problems, battery cable problems, DSC problems, potholes, blower motor. LITERALLY every excuse was given to me and naturally enough was enough....I would ask for receipts, work orders, 3rd party work orders, and any of the work they claimed that they have done, Matt always said he would send it right after we talked. Not a single document was ever shown to me to this day. I gave it to his lies thinking, my car is at 115k, this could all be a coincidence. Thankfully it was brought to my attention that other people have been having issues with ZNM in terms of them stealing parts from your car and ZNM lying to their customers and not completing any work. Once i saw this thread, i immediately was wary and started questioning Matt about every single facet of my build. He ASSURED ME everything was being completed as planned and my car was drive-able and he had been working tirelessly on it day and night. Still nothing made sense.I went to pick up my car 12/7/2018 and i am absolutely in disbelief. All i can say is WOW..... Over a years time, NOTHING, i repeat, NOTHING was completed on my car. I gave ZNM over $10000 in parts and labor and ABSOLUTELY ZERO WORK WAS COMPLETED and ZERO parts that i ordered were given to me; meaning he took my money and let my car rot in his lot. I confronted Matt the the same day and he assured me that Pure Stage 2 turbos were installed, and admitted he could not confirm nor deny that the cylinder head was changed, "i'm not sure what the mechanic did or did not do to your car." I had my car towed directly to a secondary shop to be inspected the same day and they confirmed no pure stage 2 turbos were on the car, my cylinder head was still stock and none of the parts i ordered through him were installed, nor were they given to me when i went to take my car away from the shop. -ZNM scammed me into "buying" a cylinder head -He replaced my turbos with some unknown mileage turbo; i had the shop take photos with a micro cam and they confirmed that the turbos are rebuilt stock or similar turbos. NOT the Pure Stage 2 DDs that i paid for -Car battery was also all melted to the point where it melted through the entire IBS unit bc it was never coded/registered, and it sat overcharging for an entire year (which in turn ruined my alternator) -Not one gasket changed: oil pan, ofhg, oil cooler, valve cover gasket; no ignition service was completed, my car came back empty of all fluids, leaking oil out of ofhg, oil cooler, cracked valve cover, valve cover gasket; flat tire, out of alignment, new dents, paint was atrocious, like it sat in a yard for a whole year. I paid my secondary shop over $2k in parts/labor to get my car running and to inspect the damage that was done. Matt Malave and Elyse Cruz pretended to cooperate with me in regards to getting my money back, nor giving me the parts for which i paid for. As of 1/30/2019, i have yet to receive my refund from ZNM. Ive been asking every single day. Initially Matt said he started a refund...after 10+ days of processing, it never came through and for some reason Matt decided to cancel it (if he even initiated it in the first place). I then mentioned paypal/cash refund. He supposedly initiated it but for some reason, his account was "suspended." So to this day, no money has been returned, no parts that i paid for were given to me and my car has the same parts as the day i dropped it off, except everything is falling apart because it was neglected in an open lot for an entire year, rotting away in the 4 seasons of the Northeast. I would avoid this renamed shop aka ZnM performance at all costs. They are very amateur and do not know what they are doing. Had them install lowering springs and they never connected my front passenger side end link. Spent driving my car for months until I went to get my brakes changed by a much more experienced and truthful shop and they found it disconnected. Always felt like my car would sway at high speeds but finally found out why. There are a lot of bad experiences online and they are scam artists. Don't fall for the cheap labor it will only cost you more down the road. Avoid at all costs do not give this shop any money. read more

I have known Matt for years. In the last few years, the service has significantly deteriorated. My brother-in-law who services his car here based on my recommendation mentioned to me that some parts were never changed and looked very old even though he was told by Matt that they performed the service and put in new parts. A BMW dealer performed service after the fact and informed us that used parts were put in. In June 2019, i contacted Matt to purchase 2 service manual CD's. I paid the amount to Elyse via Venmo as per Matt's request. After 9 months, I have not received the manuals or my refund. I have been told by Matt numerous times that the CD's were shipped - He even mailed screenshots of tracking numbers - somehow they NEVER came. Once he said, I sent to your old address, then to my new address, then to my office address - but they NEVER came in the past 9 months. About 5 months ago I started asking for a refund. He told me 5 different times that he mailed me a cheque - I NEVER received them. Then he said his Venmo account is down - Venmo blocked me. I asked him a dozen times why he cant have Elyse transfer my money through venmo just like she collected the payment through venmo - no answer. Then he said - I am driving back from VA to NJ and will stop by and drop off your refund at your house. Of Course he NEVER stopped by and never refunded my money. Then he goes on to say - why dont you open a paypal account, i told him, i dont have a paypal and i dont want to open one and requested him to mail a cheque, venmo or money order. Then he says OK i will money order and then texts me that he put the MO in email. That was a month ago and I never received his money order/my refund back. Then he said send me a test email and i will send you the info. I sent him a test email and he never responded. I replied back to him asking for a status and he says i left office early and i will send you the info by afternoon. That was weeks ago. Parts Ordered in Jun 2019, never received them. Requesting refund since Sep 2019 but hasn't received my money back till today. I see I am not the only one in this situation based on all the complaints and reviews i have read online about this place in dozens of forums. Then there was an issue with that billing company, so just waiting for that account to close and for his account to get that money, then we can meet up and he'll give me cash.He bailed on that 2 times when HE came up with the time and the place. Then, he said he'd send me paypal THAT day. I have pictures of the texts. No payment that day, and he was getting mad at me the next day for asking questions. As if questions aren't warranted when he's been sitting on a grand of my money for 3 months. Now, he's told me to deal with Elyse. I brought up this situation to elyse once before, and he called me scathing that I had dared bring someone else into the situation, and we needed to keep it between us. Side note: my good friend had a trans replaced there, and while there's definitely a working transmission in it now, his transfercase broke.
