I think everybody has their favorite local ice cream place and this is mine. From the simple vanilla sundae with marshmallow topping to the glorious banana split, they do ice cream awesomely here. Soft or hard serve, cones, cups or sundaes, novelties, ice cream cartons to go, etc., they make it all here. A friendly young crew run like a fine oiled machine. It's a fun place for sure. We hadn't been here in years and decided to stop by for lunch since we were in the neighborhood. It's a large open interior and it's conveniently located on Route 55 just off of the Taconic, next to the high school. I'm not sure if they are always that busy or if it was just because it was a nice warm day, but the line reached out the door. Service was friendly but it took a little bit to get our burgers, probably because of the long line. The burgers were good, as were the fries. We would've gotten some ice cream after we ate our burgers, but the line was out the door, as I mentioned, and we didn't feel like waiting again, which is a shame, because some of the flavors sounded delicious. Overall a lovely place to take the family. Lots of space for kiddos to roam, play, eat outdoors. I got a plain vanilla cone and it tasted very fresh and simple- you can tell there is no added junk. The service was good, it did seem to get very busy around 1pm and the workers did their best to keep everything straight. My only complaint is there are ALOT of ice cream choices! Arrived at 7:50. Stood at the register for ten minutes while a guy and girl were working on previous orders. Ok-No problem. But weren't even acknowledged. A simple we will be with you in a minute goes a long way. Guy finally asks us what we would like. I tried to order food and then he told me the kitchen closed at 8:00. It was 8:01 and we were standing there for ten minutes without being even acknowledged. Horrible customer service. Then I ended up getting a hot fudge sundae. Came with no nuts and very little fudge. We found this place on our drive down from the catskills. Open on a monday so that was a plus! When you walk in. It smells like fresh ice cream. If you know that smell you know it They had some soft serve and also homemade by the scoops. So i ordered the chocolate raspberry. Had fresh raspberries and the peanut butter brownie was good wish it had brownie bits in it It is literally an old barn so the upper areas have little kittens (fake) that were on hay barrels which would typically happen in. The fries were also disappointing because they were really thin and crispy, not plump and juicy. They have a selection of homemade hard ice cream and some soft ice cream, as well as premade ice cream cakes and pies, eggs, milk. I had the pumpkin cheesecake hard ice cream which was good but not super creamy. Good ice cream that's better than chains, but not the best. You order at the counter and they call your name. I wanted to try Zoe because I saw they have honey lavender ice-cream. I first tried it some place in Lancaster and wanted to compare. When I asked for a sample I was told no samples. Other than that small blip- there is really unique flavors and super fresh tasting dairy! The food is decent, a few of us had sandwiches, a quesadilla and a kids chicken tender meal. All were fine but not memorable. The servers there were very sweet and attentive even when it was super busy! Personally, I would skip the hot food next time and stick to only ice cream. We've been coming to Zoe's for a while now and have always enjoyed their fresh ice cream and activities for kids (they hosted outdoor concert and princess parties in the past). It has now become a regular spot for my daughter and I before her gymnastics class. We are here almost weekly and our fav thing on the menu is their chicken fingers. As my daughter claimed that "they are the best she's ever had". I would have to agree! The chicken tenders are coated in cornmeal instead of the traditional heavy flour breading. It's crispy and flavorful, we don't use any dipping sauce. The fries that come with the meal is also to our liking. Skinny cut and right kind of crispness, our go-to is the kid's chicken tenders (2 tenders, fries, and a drink $12) + kid-size soft serve twist ($2.5). I'm always trying their ice cream flavors. My fav so far is the lemon poppy. The ONLY complaint I have (which refrained me from giving this place the perfect 5 Stars) is that I find they are a bit stingy on the goodies added to flavored ice cream, for example the brownie bites ice cream barely had any brownie bites or the strawberry cheesecake ice cream barely had any strawberry or cheese cake crumble. I'm spoiled by Ben&Jerry ice cream with their overloaded goodness, so I expected more. With that said, still a super amazing place to bring the family. Great outdoor space (tho they removed the wooden house that was previously on the lawn which my kids enjoyed. Hope they bring it back), corn holes, old tractor for kids to climb on. The building is very nice. A lot of staff behind the counter but only one person takes orders from customers which creates long lines.. The long lines are in the (dinning area) so this makes eating uncomfortable inside. The Staff can't make a chocolate ice cream soda and waiting for my hot food all the ice cream was melted. Not even sure what I drank. The staff had to make the drink 3 times with our help. Doesn't seem to be any managers around. The food wasn't good. The fries weren"t crisp and I gave my burger to the dog. Low quaily food at a high price.. Not sure the owners "ever" tried eating their own food and ever tried eating inside.. Second time eating here-- and my last... Call a consultant to change the process and ordering at the counter. Teach your staff to make the food and desserts. Buy better quaity products. Visited for the first time today and could not have been happier. Zoe's uses local ingredients and you can tell. My husband and I trIed the Hawaiian burger (topped with red onion, pineapple and bbq) and the daily special grilled cheese (cheddar, honey and grilled pears on sourdough). Both were so flavorful and we would happily order again! Finished the meal with a vanilla shake and ice cream. I tried the lemon poppy seed hard ice cream which was a burst of lemon deliciousness on a hot summer day. Servers were friendly and working very hard inside to get everyone what they needed at the window and for the curbside service. Big property and picnic tables all around for "social distance" seating. Ice cream flavors and food specials change often and social media has the latest updates. I wanted to give Zoe's a second try, as it has been 2 years since my last visit and I live locally. As I pulled up, the long line made me think Zoe's was going to be better then my pervious time. Unfortunately, it was worse... I ordered a classic hot fudge sundea, that came in a small plastic cup and had zero hot fudge. By the time I got to my car it was just a watery mess, similar to chocolate milk. To top it off my ice cream was oddly gritty... I threw half of it away. My girlfriend opted for a waffle cone with lemon poppy ice cream. The first bite was good, but as she got a few scoops in she complained that the ice cream was freezer burnt! I tried a spoonful and it was like eating tasteless ice crystals. Ice cream is a treat to me, and sadly this treat was not worth the evening calories. I'm happy I gave Zoe's a second shot, but I definitely will not be returning. I honestly would give them 1 star for the food but I left 2 due to cleanliness. I enjoy ice cream, local business and fresh ingredients :) They also have dog treat ice cream , that my puppy enjoyed so much and so fast that she had a brain freeze from it. They also have hamburgers and sandwiches on the menu, but I only come for their ice cream. They change their flavors often but have a few staples such as Mexican hot chocolate or vanilla fudge. The service is usually fast and the staff is friendly and very helpful. The location is very clean and they have gender neutral restrooms.
