So, I ordered a smores milkshake, did not wait long despite this place always being packed at night, the milk shake was nice and smooth, not thick over mixed too much, so it became only a chocolate shake. Alot of crunch with graham crackers and very much chocolatey, sadly I wish there was more marshmallow in it, since it the usual smores friends was there, but marshmallow was shied away. DO NOT COME HERE! Some hard ice cream has been expired since March of 2022, they will never fail a health inspection since they are friends with the inspectors, one of the owners put a COCKROACH in the window thinking it was "cool", one of the owners' hotboxes the bathroom (yes there is a bathroom), and probably more that I cannot think of. The employees are usually never a problem though, which is the only positive about this place; they were always nice to me and my family. I walked up to the window I was the only person,there was nobody behind me and a rude young man with glasses said we are closed in a very rude tone and then proceeded to close the window. Stopped by here after our regular haunt was packed. I thought this place was charming and had a bit of a throwback feel to it. They serve on the Hershey's Ice Cream which was fine with me especially because they had all my favorites on tap and they were certainly generous with the portions. Came here after a hike to get some treats. I got a cookies and cream/mint chip milk shake and my boyfriend got a blue raspberry slushy (small size). We also got a water bottle. Total came to $10 which was very reasonable. I didn't want a large but I noticed it was huge which is nice if you do want that. They had a lot of flavors and different types of treats (slushy, soft serve, hard ice cream, milkshake, etc). There is no indoor seating which is fine especially during Covid. For years my family and I have stopped at Cherry Top to enjoy their "inventive flavors" of soft-serve ice cream on a cone. However, this evening I was disappointed with our order. I just moved to the area and this has fast become one of my favorite stop-offs for a sweet treat. When I drive from New Paltz to visit my family in Newburgh, I always pass Cherry Top on Route 32. The sign is enticing, as it always has a different flavor (or two) of soft serve each week. Last week I had the Pumpkin Pie & Lemon Custard swirled together, and it was insane. It reminded me a lot of Egg Nog, in a great way. They had a Cappuccino flavor that I really regret not trying a couple of weeks ago. I 'm going to pass by again today and needless to say, I'll probably stop and get a cone even if it's 40 degrees out. P.S. They also have tons of delicious-sounding Hershey's hard ice cream flavors, and the prices are reasonable. Went for the large root beer float, came with their vanilla soft serve. The ice cream actually lasts and doesn't melt away into the root beer. The soft serve was very thick and creamy. Float was a good choice on a hot day. A large will take you awhile to finish too. read more

on the highway leading to minnewaska state preserve i was excited that we would be passing a roy rogers, knowing that i'd get to have a nice fast food roast beef sandwich before our hike. sadly, the directions i used were different than the last time and we ended up taking route 32 and missing our desired pre-hiking sustenance. it turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as we saw a huge sign in front of a roadside ice cream joint that read "We have strawberry ice cream!" needless to say, we didn't pass it up. i ordered the strawberry milkshake, without even looking at the rest of the menu. i've never had strawberry soft serve and while it was good, not overly sweet and not too rich, i noticed something on the menu as i was waiting for my shake: the smores milkshake. i quickly justified the second milkshake in my mind: it was going to be a five hour hike; i haven't been high on sugar in a while; and, more importantly,SMORES! it proved to be a good decision. the shake consisted of vanilla soft serve, hot fudge sauce, marshmallows, and nabisco graham crackers. the bits of graham crackers in the shake brought it into over-the-top territory. firm in the beginning, and slowly softening over the time it took to complete the shake. the small here is probably more like a medium at most other places. this is one of the top milkshake experiences i've had. if you're in the area GET THIS MILKSHAKE! i'll be back, but next time i probably won't be double fisting two sugary concoctions. read more
