Not a crumb left on our plate. My mother and I wanted a nice, local restaurant and the menu was very appealing. They have something for everyone. I got the grilled rainbow trout with lemon caper sauce. I thought it was cooked perfectly and fresh. I really wish it had more of a lemon flavor. I definitely squeezed out the lemon wedge they gave me till it was dry. Side salad was super fresh and delicious. Their Dill dressing was a nice different option and the baked potato was piping hot with crispy skin. Got the bread pudding, which I did not like it at all. My mother did though. She said "it's good, not great." And we also tried the blueberry rhubarb cobbler which had a weird aftertaste to it. I'd give it a 2/5. Service was excellent too. The food was just okay. I had the meatloaf open sandwich and it did not reach my expectations. The meatloaf did not have much flavor and was dry. The home cut fries were good. My wife had the pastrami sandwich and it looked good so maybe just stick to the burgers and sandwiches. The waitress was not that good. Maybe it was not her fault because she looked to be serving too many tables. Perhaps the owner should hire more help so that she could better serve. The atmosphere was good and clean. Looked to be a favorite for locals. The garden outside was beautiful. I would recommend this place just stay away from the meatloaf. read more

Food is okay and the portions are generous compared to the price. If you are hungry and craving for a hearty meal this is your place, but do not expect to get high quality food. This place is like a glorified diner. Good food and great value. I have not seen a glass of wine for these prices in so long. It's refreshing not to have to spend $15 plus for a glass I had a nice piece of salmon and came with a very good Caesar salad and baked potatoes for under $20! What a deal. We decided to try this spot on a whim while staying in Stratton mountain and it ended up being our favorite meals from the trip. Even though the ambiance inside isn't as cute as many other restaurants in town, the food, pricing and service well surprised our expectations!! Every meal we had was amazing. Kooks is the only answer I can say. We walked in and had n 95 masks on the odd hostess said we had to eat with our masks on. Not sure how that's possible but we were both actually vaccinated as we work in healthcare and we stayed this but the kook hostess said we needed a mask to eat there while we were at our table. No one was near us maybe she was on a covid -19 power trip but the whole experience was bizarre. Funny thing is the hostels had a low quality mask and no eye protection so clearly uneducated with how Covid -19 spreads. Anyways we went next door to garlic john's and it was awesome ! read more

Smoothest online ordering & pickup experience I've had in a while. Our first night in Manchester was Valentine's Day, so it was tough to find a reservation and since we had just arrived, didn't want to cook. Enter Zoey's Double Hex. My family decided they wanted burgers, while one ordered the salmon. We used the online ordering tool, which was super easy. It even gave me a time to arrive. Once at Zoey's, they had the system down, they knew where my order was and brought it out immediately. The service was with a smile! While I was waiting (very briefly), I took a good look at this place. It looks beautiful inside. They were just doing takeout, but this definitely looks like a place that would be awesome to come and enjoy a nice meal. Hostess and server were unaccommodating and curt when we asked if my elderly father could be seated at the table(s) she set up for us while part of group parked their car, or when we requested that we be seated together at one table. Highly rated for a reason!! Came here for dinner on a Saturday evening and had to wait for 25 minuets to be seated.... but it was SO worth the wait! Plus, their "waiting area" is in a beautiful garden with a stunning view!! First, the beers were amazing. Few selections, but a fabulous variety of local brews. Life is short, so we ordered dessert first. We ordered the chocolate cheesecake with raspberry drizzle... Oh. My. Gosh. SO GOOD. Highly recommend, especially eating it first! For main courses, I ordered the Fish Taco Burger..... hands down the best form of fish that I've ever eaten. Even the pickle that came with it was fantastic!!! My parents shared the prime rib, and the kitchen even split it for them with everything on separate plates, even the starter Cesar salad!! A really solid burger. I had the smothered onion and it was good. Their house made buns were really good as well. My husband had the big blue burger and said it was good too. I paid the up charge for the roasted veggie quinoa and it was just ok. A little too much dressing and for some reason I was thinking it was not going to have all of the dressing. My husband had the coleslaw and said it was good. The burgers are big and very tender. My son had the kids cheese burger and could only eat 1/2. The kids burger probably would have been the ideal size for me. Next time we are coming through, I will plan this as our meal stop! Solid authentic Vermont country restaurant. Everything our group of 4 had for lunch was very good to excellent and everything is obviously made in-house. Service was friendly and excellent. The chili was excellent - though some may find it too vinegar-forward. The mushroom swiss burger was very good with great mushroom flavor. The Gobbler turkey sandwich was very good - though I wished for more cranberry in the cranberry mayo. The roasted vegetables were excellent and the salad was great. The steak fries were solid the coleslaw was excellent, but the house fried potato chips stole the show for the sides. read more

This place is ok. The homemade Creamy dill dressing and little side salad was fresh and delicious. The soda was flat, they brought out a bottle of their birch beer. The pastrami on the Reuben was dry and there were only a few small slices. The marbled rye was thick and flavorful, but also dry around the edges. The blueberry rhubarb crumble was the perfect blend of sweet and tart, but the crumble seemed to soften after sitting too long atop the fruit. Lunchtime service is friendly, efficient, and conscientious. The food arrived quickly. Looking around, the families of all ages look happy. It's a relaxed atmosphere that accommodates a broad variety of customers. They were busy when I arrived but seated me within a few minutes. Overall.... Had a cheeseburger with coleslaw. Both were amazing. The ground beef was cooked perfectly to order and tasted excellent-no condiments necessary. The coleslaw was one of the best I've had anywhere. We also had an outstanding chicken salad sandwich with home made potato chips. For desert we shared the blue berry crumble with whipped cream and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was incredible! Service was very good. Ambiance is very much down home Pennsylvania Dutch - warm, inviting and clean, but nothing fancy or uppity. Other than reluctantly taking our order and then delivering it, we never saw her again until it was time for the check. The Pastrami Reuben was very good and large enough to share. We actually went back two months later and tried it again (in case the great burger was a one off). Nope still great. Had Hex burger with cheese each time. Cooked as ordered, big without being to big to eat. Beef was tasty and the burgers clearly hand made. Each time ordered side of onion strips which are decadent but not easy to eat, kinda messy in a good way. A good choice for families and won't drain your wallet. Not a good choice for a romantic date! Nice screened porch seating in warm months. Prepare to wait LONG on a Saturday night. Reliable if not imaginitive food. They offer 4 types of fresh fish. I tried the Idaho Trout, but being farmed, it didn't taste super fresh or delicious.The salad was suprisingly good, with a delicious home made creamy dill (?) dressing. I was not impressed with my hub's fish taco....but he liked it. The onion strings are home-made and yummy. You can always count on a delicious burger. 'Generous pour on wine. Desserts are "Meh"... Great for what it is, basically 2 or 3 notches, both in atmosphere and in food quality, above a diner. Really, 3 1/2 stars. Arrived w/o reservation (as usual!) & were told 20 minutes, which turned out to be spot on. They have an indoors and a semi-outdoors - a screened-in porch, basically, which is where we were seated. Two of us at a nice large round table that could've accommodated a family of 4 or 5 or perhaps even 6. Hubby had a glass of wine, I had a Long Trail blueberry wheat beer, a can because they don't have on tap, but I really enjoyed it (local brewery). We shared a basic shrimp cocktail to start (tired after a week of chess-this and cheese-that, this being Vermont!), and there were 6 good-sized shrimp with a biting (yum!) horseradish-y cocktail sauce. Then both of us chose the fish special, which was Maine haddock over sautéed spinach. BTW, entrees come with a house salad, perfect for us. The haddock was over sautéed spinach, but it was also served with a choice of wild rice pilaf (I had that) or baked potato (he had that) & I think the other choice was fried. AND some barely-steamed crunchy green beans. So, we weren't deprived of our veggies! The fish & spinach were delicious! We did indulge in the local ice cream for dessert - shared one scoop of the black raspberry, AND, we shared a slice of "blue-barb" pie - to die for! All good, worth going to & waiting for, reasonable prices, nice & casual. Most eating in Manchester is pretty upscale, & we'd had several excellent high-end dinners on our week in Vermont, so this hit the spot as we wound up our vacation! read more

Dropped by zoeys double hex on the way to killington and it was the perfect spot for our mid road trip lunch! Just off of route 7, it's super convenient and easy to find. The atmosphere is a casual, diner vibe. The hostess and servers are super friendly and we had no trouble getting a table on a Sunday afternoon. The menu is expansive, with typical diner appetizers, salads, and sandwiches. But the spotlight here is definitely the burgers! They have at least 12 different burger options and man, does it make it hard to choose just one! We went for a traditional double hex cheeseburger and it was delicious. Loved the fries that came with it as well. Overall, a great place to stop for a hot lunch in a casual, friendly atmosphere! read more

The hostess took about 5-6 tables names and said there would be a wait. After somewhere around 5-8 mins we were seated... at a table that was empty the entire time that we had been staring at since arrived...really? Why did we have to wait at the bar for a table you were clearly going to put us at anyway. Table after table was then filled...a couple who arrive after us was placed at a table next to us and was then waited on first after we had already been seated about 10 mins. Really? We have been waiting at the bar for a table, and then waiting at our table, to only see a new customer walk in, her seated and waited on before us. Really rude. Luckily once we ordered everything was getting better. Food came out promptly. Our burgers were delicious and cooked perfectly. And I have to say the coleslaw may have been some of the I've ever had and coleslaw is my jam! So that made me pretty happy. You definitely gotta get a burger if you venture here. Really freaking good. Just hope the service is isn't always this awry. The bill took quite some time. But then we were up and out.
