Raw and undercooked dough
Marli J.

I tried to reach out personally via Instagram, but I never got a response so I am sadly going to have to lead my review here: This is what I had sent via Instagram: Hello, I wanted to reach out because I had just picked up an order and honestly very disappointed. We had hear raving reviews about you guys and very excited to try it, but between everything, very disappointed. We placed the order at 4:53 pm Informed it would be a 2 hour wait and we figured it would be worth the wait because of what we had heard. We picked up the pizza what was to our surprise was $75.97 for two pizzas. For the price of the pizza and the time waited, we had fairly high expectations. Also we had to wait another 5-10 minutes because the name was taken down incorrectly as Digy... the name was Gigi. We got home and noticed the pizza tasted as it had been left sitting out, honestly have had better frozen pizzas, the pizzas were both raw in the bottom and rather tasteless. I am just extremely disappointed, the pictures online look nothing like the pizzas we received. Please view photos attached:

We were in Iowa visiting family when we found Zoey's Pizzeria. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When you walk in it has the old school pizzeria smell.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were seated immediately. The server recommended some local ciders which were delicious. When in Iowa you must try taco pizza. They nailed it. Great crust. Well seasoned meat and flavorful chip toppings. The server recommended getting it NewZago style. Perfect! We also got The "Zoey" Chicago style. WOW! Flavorful with amazing sauce and fresh ingredients. If you're in the area you must try Zoey's! One of the best pizza places we have been to and we travel the US and the world doing food roadtrips.

I've been wanting to try Zoey's for quite some time. I heard they had a taco pizza and I've always been a big fan of taco pizza! I believe it is comparable to the competitors. It was good but to me it didn't stand out and it was expensive. I did LOVE all the Halloween decor. Service was ok.

The best pizza in town! Period. Get the taco on New York thin and/or the "Zoey" in the deep dish. Really anything you get is amazing. Highly suggest the zookie if you need a little something sweet. It's a quaint restaurant with a few booths and tables. Order at the counter or all to take out. Be aware they're busy so make sure you call early for take out or get there early or you may be waiting.

Awesome spot! Pizza was simple, but very delicious! Service was quick and efficient. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance had that great pizza parlor vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Go-to spot in Marion

I really had to think through this review because I want to give Zoey's 5 stars but can't get myself to do so. I'll start with all the stuff I like: Great quality ingredients! The sauce, veggies, cheese & bread - all good quality. I ate some leftovers 2 days later and still the pizza held it's quality. The restaurant is very warm and cozy. There is dim lighting at the restaurant, the music isn't too loud, the servers are very warm and friendly. Great place to go for a date night or catch up with friends. Now the things that took me aback: They don't cut the to-go pizza in slices! Why? I had to come home and figure out how to cut a hot deep dish pie. I wanted to eat the pizza asap, but oh well, I had to cut it first. Secondly, I felt the crust isn't salted well. Deep dish pizza has such amazing crust, but lack of salt really too away the pleasure of it. I know I'm comparing Chicago style deep dish from Lou Malnati with Zoey's in Marion, it's not the fairest comparison, but I do want to hold my town and it's businesses to high standards. Parking situation at the Marion square is getting worse by the day. Be prepared to park a block away to get here. We paid about $40 for a deep dish pizza and some cheesy breadsticks. It's not a $10 pie, I expect better pizza for what I paid.

Always great. Friendly, attentive service, and you can't go wrong with the food. Even when you are completely stuffed with pizza, you can always squeeze in a zookie!

Small taco is 4 pieces

I couldn't wait to try Zoeys. I have heard so many good things. I was absolutely disappointed! The taco pizza is the worst I have ever tried. It had so much chips and they have a strong flavor, it's all you taste. However, there is definitely a reason for the pile of chips. The taco pizza it terrible! You need the chips to hide the flavor. The calazone was to soggy to eat. Not our thing, but maybe yours....

Service was great and the waiter was pretty good at making the rounds, making sure I was attended to. I was going to order the large but he insisted to get the medium knowing the pie was going to be too big. (I should have ordered the large! ). When the pie came out, everything about this pizza was a step above any slice I've ever had. I'm a uge fan , that's right "UGE" fan of Dave Portnoy 1 slice pizza review and have been dying to try the NH style type of pizza. I ordered a medium (which was uge btw) pep pizza and it came out within 10 mins. Each slice had zero flop and a beautiful undercarriage! The dough had that true charcoal oven fired tasted and the pepperoni cups were crisp and spicy! The thing that really elevated this pizza for me was that after taken it back to the hotel and microwaving it, (it lost some of it structure) but the crust was still pretty crispy! How am I'm suppose to go back to Texas now knowing this kind of slice exists!?! The place also has some pretty cool shirts which are kind of pricey but tbh will always remind me of that one time I'd almost cried eating pizza.

The vibe is wonderfully chill, and the service was friendly from start to finish. The food was absolutely wonderful--especially exciting for us because Napoli's offers classic Italian dishes without pork. I got the lasagna and my partner had the penne bolognese--both dishes that usually include pork--and we were so thrilled to finally be able to enjoy them. Everything was delicious, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. Napoli's is definitely going to be our go-to spot. Thank you for a fantastic dining experience!

I mean, our waitress predicted what we needed before we asked, put my son's food order in first and brought it out quickly (we so appreciated this) and was super prompt with literally everything. We didn't have to ask for boxes, and she had the check ready on time, her timing was impeccable the entire time! The food was overall, good. The bread service was delicious. The garlic knots were freshly baked and heavenly. They do an olive oil dip with it and we usually love this at comparable restaurants but their olive oil was on the fruity/floral side for me. My husband liked it, but for me I prefer a more buttery and garlic flavor to my olive oils, especially when meant for bread. The calamari wasn't good. The issue (which is easily fixable) is that the pieces were HUGE! We've never seen calamari rings that big! Because of that, I'm assuming they got overcooked to ensure they got up to temp as these were so so rubbery and tough. I don't know if this size is typical for them if there was an ordering issue, but these would be really good if they were smaller so it could be a faster fry and less likely to get overcooked. My husband had the shrimp and scallop Alfredo and he LOVED it, he said he likes it more than his usual at Biaggis which is saying something because that's been our go to for over a decade. I had the chicken parm and the chicken itself was great. The spaghetti was okay, but the noodles were watery, making the sauce on top thin, this would've been better if the sauce and noodles were tossed into a pan to thicken the sauce and coat the noodles. My son has the chicken strip meal (it came with fries) and he was happy with it! Overall, we had a positive experience and the service itself will be enough for us to come back and try more on the menu!

I should have followed my own advice. If you walk into a restaurant on a beautiful day at noon and…read moreit's empty, turn around immediately and gtfo. But oh no, like a dope I order. Man, was that a mistake. I got 2 slices - one beef and one pepperoni. Started with the beef. Should have quit after the first bite. Luke warm. Crust was wretched. Crisp, but God-awful. Sauce? Like sauce strained through a used jock strap. Don't even get me started on the rest. The other slice was just as bad. As I sat there doing yeoman work I thought, "I should stop and go somewhere else." Unfortunately, I felt like I paid for this and I don't want to waste my money. Now having eaten, I find my stomach asking "WTF?" Easily the worst pizza I have ever had...and not just by a little bit. This is galactically bad pizza. Seriously. If you're thinking about pizza (and you are if you're reading this) just move on from here. There's a Casey's close by. Stop there or anywhere but here.

Tomaso's Pizza is consistently voted one of the best places for pizza in the Cedar Rapids metro…read more We first started eating slices years ago when the business began and can testify that it remains one (if not *the*) best pizza place in the area -- and also that the quality/taste seems to be degrading, especially over the past year. (It just doesn't taste as good as it did a year ago. Change in the crust or sauce ingredients?) Part of the success that Tomaso's has enjoyed is that it is a big fish in a little pond. Drop the business in Chicago with several competitors... well, I don't think it would fare nearly as well. There are three pie types served: Detroit with a no-lip, caramelized crust. Chicago deep-dish. New York thin. If you decide to eat in the restaurant, don't be prepared for anything fancy (the foam plates are serve-yourself near the drink dispenser). And, you should also be prepared to wait a minimum of 30 minutes to receive your pie. If you get the pies to go, be sure to either ask for the pizza to be cut or to have a pizza cutter at home. You are going to pay quite a bit more than you would for a typical chain pizza, but the truth is that chain pizzas can't come close to competing.
