    Fruity pebbles shake
    Aijalyn A.

I had never tried a smashburger and didn't know what to expect but Zojah blew me away! They are juicy, flavorful and the pickles and zojah sauce are delightful. The fries are perfectly crispy and seasoned. I loved the seasonal fruity pebbles shake. Only complaint is bun is soggy for my tastes I prefer a really good toast. But no one else in my family seemed to mind that's my personal preference. Staff was outstanding and very clean restaurant. Affordable prices too and who doesn't love a good rewards program!? Cherry on top is the vibe lots of great music and decor. Apparently they have a drive through which makes sense it was fast lol!

Decent smash burger! Good size, onions & their special sauce were delicious. The crinkly cut fries were crispy & had a good seasoning on it. They have milkshakes which I would go back to try. The workers were very nice!

If smash burgers are what you are craving this is about as good of one as I have found. Truly smashed with crispy edges and melted cheese. Price seems a little high but it includes fries (their only side) which a lot don't do any longer. They give you the option of grilled or raw onions, which I thought was pretty cool. I went with grilled and there was no up charge for that. No unsweet tea was a bit of a letdown, but other than that, this is a solid burger!

If you're looking for a burger spot this one's it! Located near medical center, this burger spot has one of the best smash burgers in town! I got the jalapeño smash burger with a fruity pebble milkshake and it was the BEST combo! The owner came around and talked to us about his business and having that type of service makes us come back even more! Overall, it gives off a modern diner vibe and is great to bring kiddos!

Recommend: Not for Me I was really looking forward to trying this place since it has so many great reviews. Unfortunately, I may be the outlier here. Let me start with the positives. The service was wonderful from start to finish. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and seemed to genuinely care about keeping the restaurant clean and welcoming. The dining area was well maintained, and although parking is limited in the front, there is additional parking available in the back. I visited on a Saturday afternoon when it wasn't particularly busy, but the food took a little longer to come out than I expected. It wasn't a huge issue, just something I noticed. I ordered the ZOJAH Smash with Fries ($14.99), which comes with a smashed Certified Angus beef patty, cheese, onions, pickles, ZOJAH sauce, and crinkle-cut fries. The burger itself was fine, but I didn't find anything especially memorable about it. The ZOJAH sauce tasted similar to Thousand Island dressing or the sauce used at In-N-Out. The bun was very soft, and the pickles added a nice crunch, but overall the burger felt a little lacking in flavor, even with the generous amount of sauce. The standout item for me was definitely the fries. They were crispy, fresh, and easily the best part of the meal. I also ordered a regular fountain drink. The restaurant had music playing during my visit, which helped create a lively atmosphere, but it was a bit louder than I would have preferred and made it harder to have a quiet conversation. At the end of the day, the food just didn't live up to the hype for me. While I can appreciate the friendly service, clean environment, and excellent fries, I personally would choose a Five Guys burger over this one. That said, plenty of other people seem to enjoy it, so your experience may be different..

Another "new"place we tried, failed us again. It's completely overrated, over hyped and overpriced. The patties are paper-thin "meat wafers"basically soft jerky with crispy edges. Yes its a smash burger place, but it was way tooo thin. The combo doesn't even include a drink. If you are craving a meat wafer and enjoy burning money, this is the spot for you. Our daughter said its the worst burger she had ever tasted because mostly just bread and no flavor or much meat.

Zojah didn't just make a good smash burger -- they made the smash burger I'm comparing all others to now. Absolute fire from first bite to last.

If you're looking for a really good burger, I highly recommend Zojah burger. The crispy edges and the tallow fries are 10/10. This burger is so flavorful The owner is super nice. The staff is really respectful. I've never had to wait too long for my food. They have a drive-through if you're really in a rush. I have zero complaints. It's literally one of my favorite smash burgers in San Antonio.

This was the best burger I've ever had!!! The crispy edges are so so so good!!! The restaurant was clean and the servers and cashier were friendly and welcoming! I can't wait to go back!

I've passed Zojah Burger many times since it opened up. I had to try them out. I got the Zojah Double Burger with fries for $16.99 plus tax. The burger was pretty good. It wasn't great. The fries were crispy. I got my food in a timely manner and I received good customer service. This place reminds me of Freddy's. The burgers are very similar. It's a place I would only eat at a few times a year. I wasn't wowed by anything I ate. It's almost twenty dollars for just the burger and fries. That is a little high on my opinion. I would recommend this place if you like smash burgers.

Zojah is dishing out some real deal smash burgers and I finally got my hands on one! ZOJAH Double w/ Fries 2 Smashed Certified Angus Beef Patties, Double Cheese, Onions, Pickles, ZOJAH Sauce, and Crinkle Cut Fries cooked in Tallow

    Roxy W.

I ordered the double cheese burger with fries and an Oreo shake. The burger was delicious! I like that the meat was crispy. The fries were the best! I love the crispness of the fries. The price is based off burger and fries and it's close to $20 which I think is steep. That is not including a drink. Yikes! The restaurant is clean and the staff are friendly. Service was great but the staff did forget my shake and I had to ask 10 minutes after receiving our food.

    Sharon N.

Gotta say, wasn't impressed. The best thing that stood out the most were the fries (fried in beef tallow) and their special Zojah sauce. The spicey chicken sandwich was a giant chicken strip in a burger bun. But guess what? They were the same size as Dave's Hot Chicken "sliders" and you can choose your spice level. PLUS - you get TWO of them with fries for about the same as we paid for those one with fries. The Smashed burger was fine. But nothing memorable. You can go elsewhere- I can name at least 3 chains that's has smash burgers and you get lettuce and tomato on it too - not just onion and pickles. Two burgers and one spicy chicken sandwich - all with fries- and ONE SODA - $51. The price point is not worth it so it's a one and done for us. Oh and... It's in a small strip mall and on a Saturday night like when we went (5ish) -- the area was so packed and couldn't find parking. (The establishment itself is quite small.)

THE LOCATION: on the very end of a string of businesses in a strip mall that I've never been in before, so that was cool. Lots of parking, that'll never be an issue. And right off the 410. THE MENU: Burgers, dogs, Mexi-style munchies and a variety of frozen dessert-type items like shakes, frozen fruit concoctions and Italian ice. THE STAFF: I wasn't overwhelmed with a warm welcome and smiles, at least from the guys. Lol! They should really work on that. There was a sweet gal who ran out our food orders and she was great. THE FOOD: I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich deluxe with tots and a sweet tea. The grilled chicken was juicy and cooked well and the bun was lovely, slightly sweet and toasted. Overall, the sandwich could've used more flavor, like a creamy bbq spread and cheddar instead of the "Swiss" cheese that tasted more like American cheese. But overall, 7/10. The tots were extra crispy and the guy who took my order didn't take heed to my request for ranch. I was too lazy to get up again so I settled for ketchup. The sweet tea was nicely sweet and fresh, I'll be sipping this in my dreams. The hubby ordered the bacon cheeseburger with chili cheese fries and an Oreo cookie shake. The burger looked good and he ate it quick, so there's that. This guy can EAT so it surprised us both when he slowed down fast after eating that burger. Lol! He kept saying how filling it was, but then he also killed a large shake before the food arrived, so there's that. He ate most of his chili cheese fries, leaving me a few bites to sample. Not bad. I order a Coco Haven frozen dessert to go and omg is this thing delightful! Vanilla ice cream and coconut Italian ice (?) with a blue snow cone-like syrup drizzled throughout. I loved the texture of what I believed to be Italian ice. Smooth and flaky, a perfect icy dessert. OVERALL: decent eatery, the hubby said we can go back (LOL!) Shockerrrrr! But I recommend the staff tries harder to make customers feel welcomed and comfortable. The next visit will be telling.

Do yourself a favor and fight for street parking. I walked up to the outside counter Saturday night about 7:20. Never been here. The ladies behind the counter obviously could NOT have cared less. No nice welcome...no pleasantries. Nothing said. I spoke first, asking about seating availability inside (it was chilly), and they were rude - looked at me like I was from outer space and said they didn't know. They said they didn't know in that "yeah, good luck with that...it's Saturday at 7, dumbass" kinda way. How could you not know? And if you truly didn't know, which one of them should have gone to check for me. So I went and checked myself. Turns out: plenty of seating. Returned to the chilly duo and placed my order. Ordered the Wake and Bacon burger. I also ordered a Topo Chico, which was also met with a blank "are you from this planet?" stare. How do you not have Topo Chico or something similar !? The burger was just okay. Tiny, but tasty. Fries were so salty and over-seasoned as to be almost inedible. No one checked on me after bringing me my burger. Not one time. The only reason I gave the third star: neat, dog friendly outside area which would be cool for a group outing. Probably not going back.

Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding. Rob was the bartender last night who did such a great job, and his work was even better tonight. We highly recommend The EsquireTavern for excellent cocktails. We love the long wood bar and high copper ceiling upstairs, but love the intimate speakeasy atmosphere downstairs even more. We'll definitely be back every time we're in San Antonio! First review, Friday night: Drinks were great (Manhattan and Bourbon Old Fashioned). REAL drinks, no complaints at all about those. And the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Those aspects of the Esquire get 5+ stars from us. But the appetizers were not good, close to inedible. It was about 8:30pm or so, so maybe they were getting ready to close out the kitchen but the chalupitas with chicken tasted like rubber, and no flavor at all. The seafood platter had something in it that was breading with shell inside, but no meat of any kind. We couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The shrimp was good and the fish was good but those other things... We'll always love the drinks, the long wooden bar, and the ambiance at the Esquire Tavern, but we'll eat somewhere else and come here for before or after dinner drinks. My partner and I went on a Sunday morning just after 11am and there were already people coming in to eat. It's popular for a reason! I've eaten here a few times and had a very consistently good time, but this review will be about my most recent visit. We visited on a rainy day, but luckily we were able to snag one of the inside tables, we ordered at the counter and our orders arrived very quickly. I got the Ratchet dog which is a beef dog with queso, hot Cheetos and fried jalapeños. Dogfather uses quality dogs and buns for all of their gourmet dogs. I found the Ratchet to be meaty, salty with just right amount of spice from the jalapeños. My partner got the Pop it like it's hot, but removed the jalapeños. This was good but lacking a bit of flavor, however she and I both agreed that was on her for taking the jalapeños off the dog. Both dogs were extremely tasty, and we devoured both. I also got an order of curly fries loaded with their chili and cheese. For me, these did not have to go as HARD as they did. The chili they are using at Dogfather is seriously good, with a slight tang and a good amount of spice. It thrills but does not take away from your meal with too much heat. Very tasty. My only feedback is that Dogfather needs a larger space! There's a good size outside seating area, but for times like today when it's raining people need some coverage. They're doing it right and the crowds want to come! As I have stated this is a local favorite. If you live nearby, make it a regular spot. If you live in San Antonio, do yourself a favor and make a trip over at least sometimes. If you like hot dogs you won't go wrong.

We got tots to share for the table, and I will say these are the best tator tots I've have in a very long time! Customer service was great, and the cashier was very patient and explain everything to us. We loved the decor- which was very Godfather themed. There are a couple seat in doors, but more seating outside with umbrellas at each table. I highly recommend The Dogfather to anyone who loves hotdogs and great burgers.
