Another "new"place we tried, failed us again. It's completely overrated, over hyped and overpriced. The patties are paper-thin "meat wafers"basically soft jerky with crispy edges. Yes its a smash burger place, but it was way tooo thin. The combo doesn't even include a drink. If you are craving a meat wafer and enjoy burning money, this is the spot for you. Our daughter said its the worst burger she had ever tasted because mostly just bread and no flavor or much meat.

If you're looking for a really good burger, I highly recommend Zojah burger. The crispy edges and the tallow fries are 10/10. This burger is so flavorful The owner is super nice. The staff is really respectful. I've never had to wait too long for my food. They have a drive-through if you're really in a rush. I have zero complaints. It's literally one of my favorite smash burgers in San Antonio.

I've passed Zojah Burger many times since it opened up. I had to try them out. I got the Zojah Double Burger with fries for $16.99 plus tax. The burger was pretty good. It wasn't great. The fries were crispy. I got my food in a timely manner and I received good customer service. This place reminds me of Freddy's. The burgers are very similar. It's a place I would only eat at a few times a year. I wasn't wowed by anything I ate. It's almost twenty dollars for just the burger and fries. That is a little high on my opinion. I would recommend this place if you like smash burgers.

Zojah is dishing out some real deal smash burgers and I finally got my hands on one! ZOJAH Double w/ Fries 2 Smashed Certified Angus Beef Patties, Double Cheese, Onions, Pickles, ZOJAH Sauce, and Crinkle Cut Fries cooked in Tallow

Gotta say, wasn't impressed. The best thing that stood out the most were the fries (fried in beef tallow) and their special Zojah sauce. The spicey chicken sandwich was a giant chicken strip in a burger bun. But guess what? They were the same size as Dave's Hot Chicken "sliders" and you can choose your spice level. PLUS - you get TWO of them with fries for about the same as we paid for those one with fries. The Smashed burger was fine. But nothing memorable. You can go elsewhere- I can name at least 3 chains that's has smash burgers and you get lettuce and tomato on it too - not just onion and pickles. Two burgers and one spicy chicken sandwich - all with fries- and ONE SODA - $51. The price point is not worth it so it's a one and done for us. Oh and... It's in a small strip mall and on a Saturday night like when we went (5ish) -- the area was so packed and couldn't find parking. (The establishment itself is quite small.)

This was the best burger I've ever had!!! The crispy edges are so so so good!!! The restaurant was clean and the servers and cashier were friendly and welcoming! I can't wait to go back!

I ordered the double cheese burger with fries and an Oreo shake. The burger was delicious! I like that the meat was crispy. The fries were the best! I love the crispness of the fries. The price is based off burger and fries and it's close to $20 which I think is steep. That is not including a drink. Yikes! The restaurant is clean and the staff are friendly. Service was great but the staff did forget my shake and I had to ask 10 minutes after receiving our food.

I've been wanting to try this place and was finally in the area so i stopped by and immediately the vibes were so positive . As soon as we walked in we were welcomed and all the staff was super friendly and attentive. The smash burger did not disssapoint at all !! idk what other people are on about .. they must not be used to smash burgers . Also the fries were perfectly crispy and had flavor !! i would definitely come back again !!

Came here for lunch with my wife and friends. First, I made a mistake when checking in. They do have 2 Gender Neutral/ Family bathrooms. I ordered the Zojah Double burger with Fries and a Lemonade. The burger was big ad delicious, my friends were wondering how I was going eat the burger because the smash burger was bigger than the bun. The fries were crispy and delicious, being well seasoned. And the Lemonade was tasty and refreshing.

A friend sent us this recommendation from TikTok. And we were in the area. We are NE side people so being on the NW side was a bit of a drive. Clean store, not so great parking. And otherwise just what appears to be a burger place. It was nice. Cashier was nice since we haven't been we asked questions and she answered them well. Explained what was popular and what she liked. I had the jalapeño burger with fries and took it as it came. Grilled onions not fresh and it was beautiful. The jalapeño was fresh and just the right amount of spice. The sauce, the onions, the pickles. Just a great burger. I have reviewed burgers before and the smash burger is new for me. I enjoyed it. A double patty smash burger filled me up and I was good. Husband had the regular burger with grilled onion, pickles and sauce. He loved it. They give the right portion of ketchup for us. It handled all the fries I ate and I was happy. A nice crispy Coke Zero to be my drink. The decor was nice the red black color scheme was just enough. I enjoyed the sign so I took a picture. (My dad helps make signs so I have a random appreciation.) Will come back and bring my friend who sent it to us. Maybe make a shopping trip like we did with a trip to the random stores on that side of town.

In the lexicon of American comfort food, the burger holds a ubiquitous, almost mundane position. However, rare moments occur when the execution of this staple transcends the ordinary and enters the realm of the sublime. ZOJAH Burger is one such establishment. To label this place a mere "burger joint" would do it and you, Dear Reader, a great disservice; ZOJAH has become my new gold standard for smashburgers. The name of the restaurant struck me initially as Middle Eastern, but the staff informed me that "ZOJAH" (all caps) is a portmanteau derived from owner Alvin Garlito's three children: Zoe, Isaiah, and Elijah. The name serves as a clever, perhaps unintentional, double entendre--a literal "smashup" of names for a place specializing in the art of the smashburger. Upon entering ZOJAH, I noted the level of care applied to the environment. In an industry often plagued by grease-slicked floors and dirty tables, ZOJAH is immaculate. The attention to sanitation and order signaled a disciplined kitchen, a great first impression. The service matches the environment. The staff demonstrated a genuine warmth that felt ingratiating rather than transactional. During my visit, the attentiveness was palpable; one employee approached my table proactively to offer a refill on my root beer before I had even realized I was running low. The centerpiece of the menu is, of course, the smashburger. The magic begins with the intense heat of the griddle. The beef is smashed flat, maximizing the surface area against the scorching metal. This technique pushes the Maillard reaction--the chemical reaction between amino acids and reducing sugars--to its absolute limit. The result is a patty with edges that are crisp, lacey, and desiccated (see my photos). These dark, caramelized fringes offer a savory crunch that provides a textural counterpoint to the tender interior of the meat. What elevates the ZOJAH burger is the kitchen's onion technique. The chef presses thinly sliced white onions directly into the patties as they cook. As the beef fat renders, the tallow washes over the onions, softening them and infusing them with a rich, umami depth. The onions do not merely sit atop the burger; they integrate into the meat, creating a savory unity that is impossible to achieve with raw or pre-caramelized onions. The toppings are all well balanced. American cheese is the only logical choice for this application; its emulsifying salts allow it to melt rapidly and completely, cascading into the nooks and crannies of the searing hot beef. Thick-sliced kosher pickles provide a bright, vinegary snap that cuts through the richness of the meat and cheese. Fresh-cut, thin-sliced jalapeños impart a subtle, creeping heat that enhances the savory notes without overwhelming them. Binding it all together is the special sauce--likely a house blend of mayonnaise and ketchup--which adds a creamy tang to every bite. ZOJAH applies the same rigor to their crinkle-cut fries as they do their burgers. Unlike the vegetable oil standard used by most fast- and fast-casual restaurants, ZOJAH fries their potatoes in beef tallow. This traditional method, largely abandoned by the fast-food industry decades ago, imparts a savory, meaty complexity that vegetable oil simply cannot replicate. The tallow creates a superior crust while leaving the interior pillowy and soft, resulting in a crisp, deliciously desiccated fry. If you follow my reviews (and you really should), then you know I can be a tough critic. I seldom lavish such praise upon a burger, but the team at ZOJAH deserves the recognition. As word of mouth spreads--hopefully due in part to my review--I expect the lines to become increasingly long. Highly recommended!

FIRST TIME VISIT!…read more Woohoo! Been looking for chili cheese fries and happened upon a review for this place boasting fries with a homemade chili so we HAD TO stop in tonight. THE LOCATION: on the very end of a string of businesses in a strip mall that I've never been in before, so that was cool. Lots of parking, that'll never be an issue. And right off the 410. THE MENU: Burgers, dogs, Mexi-style munchies and a variety of frozen dessert-type items like shakes, frozen fruit concoctions and Italian ice. THE STAFF: I wasn't overwhelmed with a warm welcome and smiles, at least from the guys. Lol! They should really work on that. There was a sweet gal who ran out our food orders and she was great. THE FOOD: I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich deluxe with tots and a sweet tea. The grilled chicken was juicy and cooked well and the bun was lovely, slightly sweet and toasted. Overall, the sandwich could've used more flavor, like a creamy bbq spread and cheddar instead of the "Swiss" cheese that tasted more like American cheese. But overall, 7/10. The tots were extra crispy and the guy who took my order didn't take heed to my request for ranch. I was too lazy to get up again so I settled for ketchup. The sweet tea was nicely sweet and fresh, I'll be sipping this in my dreams. The hubby ordered the bacon cheeseburger with chili cheese fries and an Oreo cookie shake. The burger looked good and he ate it quick, so there's that. This guy can EAT so it surprised us both when he slowed down fast after eating that burger. Lol! He kept saying how filling it was, but then he also killed a large shake before the food arrived, so there's that. He ate most of his chili cheese fries, leaving me a few bites to sample. Not bad. I order a Coco Haven frozen dessert to go and omg is this thing delightful! Vanilla ice cream and coconut Italian ice (?) with a blue snow cone-like syrup drizzled throughout. I loved the texture of what I believed to be Italian ice. Smooth and flaky, a perfect icy dessert. OVERALL: decent eatery, the hubby said we can go back (LOL!) Shockerrrrr! But I recommend the staff tries harder to make customers feel welcomed and comfortable. The next visit will be telling.

Do yourself a favor and fight for street parking. I walked up to the outside counter Saturday night about 7:20. Never been here. The ladies behind the counter obviously could NOT have cared less. No nice welcome...no pleasantries. Nothing said. I spoke first, asking about seating availability inside (it was chilly), and they were rude - looked at me like I was from outer space and said they didn't know. They said they didn't know in that "yeah, good luck with that...it's Saturday at 7, dumbass" kinda way. How could you not know? And if you truly didn't know, which one of them should have gone to check for me. So I went and checked myself. Turns out: plenty of seating. Returned to the chilly duo and placed my order. Ordered the Wake and Bacon burger. I also ordered a Topo Chico, which was also met with a blank "are you from this planet?" stare. How do you not have Topo Chico or something similar !? The burger was just okay. Tiny, but tasty. Fries were so salty and over-seasoned as to be almost inedible. No one checked on me after bringing me my burger. Not one time. My partner and I went on a Sunday morning just after 11am and there were already people coming in to eat. It's popular for a reason! I've eaten here a few times and had a very consistently good time, but this review will be about my most recent visit. We visited on a rainy day, but luckily we were able to snag one of the inside tables, we ordered at the counter and our orders arrived very quickly. I got the Ratchet dog which is a beef dog with queso, hot Cheetos and fried jalapeños. Dogfather uses quality dogs and buns for all of their gourmet dogs. I found the Ratchet to be meaty, salty with just right amount of spice from the jalapeños. My partner got the Pop it like it's hot, but removed the jalapeños. This was good but lacking a bit of flavor, however she and I both agreed that was on her for taking the jalapeños off the dog. Both dogs were extremely tasty, and we devoured both. I also got an order of curly fries loaded with their chili and cheese. For me, these did not have to go as HARD as they did. The chili they are using at Dogfather is seriously good, with a slight tang and a good amount of spice. It thrills but does not take away from your meal with too much heat. Very tasty. My only feedback is that Dogfather needs a larger space! There's a good size outside seating area, but for times like today when it's raining people need some coverage. They're doing it right and the crowds want to come! As I have stated this is a local favorite. If you live nearby, make it a regular spot. If you live in San Antonio, do yourself a favor and make a trip over at least sometimes. If you like hot dogs you won't go wrong.
