It first started with him being 15 min late to our initial appointment. He then called me at 2:15 and started bitching about the parking situation. This is Los Angeles! Besides my area isn't that bad for parking. I didn't really understand what the problem was. I basically had to find a spot for him. Anyone who does house calls in Los Angeles should have the common sense to know that parking is difficult in LA. He had my address for a several days, he knew where I lived. If he wasn't going to be able to handle the parking situation he should've told me. I've never had a contractor call me and say that they couldn't find parking. His work is messy. Every handyman I've hired usually cleans up their mess before leaving. He left dust and wood shavings in my bathroom, bedroom, and living room as well as his trash. He half finished the job yesterday and was supposed to come over today at 9:10 am. It's now 10am. I've called him multiple times, left a message and texted him. Still haven't gotten a response. He is one of the laziest and slowest human beings I've ever met. This experience has been such a headache. I usually have such great experiences using yelp. I am now going to call another handyman that I know from Orange County and beg him to finish this horrible job. He finished installing a light fixture in minutes and charged a fair and minimal fee. Super nice guy w/ a positive attitude and a plethora of tools and skills. Fast forward a few months and we needed him again to take care of some rather intricate pot-rack hanging. This guy is a perfectionist to say the least. He gave me several options to hang the rack and suggested a sturdy, trustworthy method that allowed us to hang 50 lbs worth of pots and pans from our drywall ceiling with no problems. Then he moved onto a butcher block in our kitchen and stripped the top of mold, dirt, dust and general ugliness. The thing looks brand spanking new and is now a charming (and more importantly, USEABLE) addition to our kitchen. Go ahead: Hire Robert to perform any electrical, plumbing, painting, demo work or landscape jobs and it will be money well spent! Super trustworthy, super fair pricing for his expert skills and a helluva nice guy. Plain and simple: Robert kicks BUTT! This is what reads on the back of his card: "Limited tooling creates a lower overhead, which is how i lower my fee. Please note: all estimates are approximates, and fees are skill-based and by the hour. Material cost, a one time delivery fee, and a one-time call out fee factors into final bill. I told them the clog is at the clean-out because this is where the problem is always at. They said the fee to come out is $129. Okay, cool. The tech came and took apart the plumbing underneath the sink and broke the T. He tried to tell me that it wa already broken and I already had a leak to begin with (which I didn't). The leak started after he took apart the piping (which I was watching him do), and while taking everything apart, he broke it somehow. He blamed it on old metal parts breaking, but I told him the clog isn't in the piping, but in/after the clean-out. If he just opened the clean-out like my usual plumber does, he shouldn't have taken apart the piping underneath the sink. Then, he called me to tell me the T is $179! $179 for a $25 part!!! I told him exactly where the plumbing store I go to is (2.5 miles away), but he insisted on going to "his guy". I also told him that he is the one who broke it, why should I pay for it? But at this point, I needed it to be fixed as well as the clogging so I had no choice but to have him complete that part/repair. So he fixes everything, and calls me back and says that he couldn't fix the clog. He even ran a snake, but now he is going to have to run a camera to see what is blocking it. So I said, forget it. This is getting to be bigger deal than it should be and it's about to be very expensive for the T that he broke, the snaking, the camera, and whatever else afterwards. It would be: $129 fee for coming out $179 for the T that he bought $308 TOTAL, so far without even fixing the clog itself. Plus he was going to charge extra for the snaking. He called me back to tell me that he isn't charging for the T-AS HE SHOULDN'T HAVE SINCE HE BROKE IT ($179), and it would only be for the call-out fee of $129. So I paid $129 for him to show up and have something else to be broken, then fixed, and the original issue was not being resolved at all. He left because he tried to upsell me on using the camera, etc. The biller at the company calls me to get my CC info for payment, and I asked for a receipt after giving her my information. She said she can't get a receipt because her machine is broken. Okay, so I asked for an invoice. She said once her machine is fixed, she would send it to me. 2 hours goes by, and nothing. So I called back again and she says, "you know what, the payment didn't go through", and I said, "yes, it did because it's already charged to my CC and I can see it". She then says that she can't send me a receipt until the money shows up in her bank. I'm like WTH. I see it charged on my CC already. She says, "Just print out your CC statement with the charge, and there is your receipt". Just wow. She then asks me for proof of payment, so I send her a screenshot of my CC account. Asking me for proof? Are you kidding me? Look at your system, your POS, if the payment went through, it went through!! Then she says, she will send it to me tomorrow. I said I want it now because this is starting to sound shady, and it's been a couple hours since I paid, and I haven't received anything. Then she says, "I'm at home already, I'm not at the office". I told her that I didn't understand why I have to go to all these "hoops" to get an invoice/receipt sent to me. She then hangs up on me. I call her back 3 times, now she doesn't answer the phone. I text her, no reply now. Very unprofessional from the work that was done or more like, not done. Very unprofessional from the biller not being able to give me a receipt or solid invoice that I can tie this purchase to, and to tell me to print my statement as a receipt and for hanging up on me. These guys are a joke! MIGHT be a jack of all trades on a good day, but definitely a master of none! Plumbing definitely isn't their forte!'' Everything that happened with them seems like a SCAM!! AT THE END, my Go-To plumber came and fixed the problem! He found a clog in the clean-out as mentioned to the LA Handy Man plumber in the beginning!!!!! On trying to pay the bill via Zelle, I got 3 warnings from Zelle stating they do not do any payments to this individual. So by now I had 2 RED FLAGS, unfortunately I am a person that feels someone should be paid for their work. So i gave him a check for 160. My fault, I should not have done that. I gave him the opportunity to refund me some of the money after I had a day to cool down. Stating his lack of professionalism, to which suddenly he spoke perfect Spanish with no issue.
