Zona Fresca is one of the best burrito/ quick service Mexican spots in Broward. Zona reminds me of the great burrito places I grew up with in California. The ingredients are always fresh and well prepared. The people behind the counter are friendly and helpful. There's plenty of seating if you choose to dine in this casual space. It's consistently clean and well kept. I'm a big fan of their shrimp and fish burritos, cheese enchiladas, and quesadillas. My family loves the pork burrito. You get chips with most meals (even to go), so be sure to hit up their fresh and awesome salsa bar. There's a great children's menu as well. read more

had a very disappointing experience at Zona Fresca. As soon as we walked in, there was a very unpleasant smell inside the restaurant. Despite that, we decided to order food and planned to sit outside to avoid the odor. We paid for our meal and then waited... and waited. The employee behind the counter was calling out order numbers, but ours was never called -- even though many customers who ordered after us received their food before we did. After standing there for quite a while, he finally asked if we needed help. I explained that we were still waiting for our order. He checked with the kitchen staff, and they responded dismissively in Spanish. We continued waiting while more orders were being called, but no one seemed to care about us or follow up. Eventually, I went back to the cashier and asked to cancel the order. He responded with irritation and said our order was canceled in a rude tone. We ended up leaving and going to another restaurant, where we received great service and excellent food. Overall, this was a frustrating and unpleasant experience. Poor service, lack of communication, and an unwelcoming atmosphere -- I would not recommend this place. read more

Great quick Mexican the Baja dish taco is really good, hot and fresh. I also had the chicken salad with lemony dressing which was great with thin pieces of chicken, they were slightly over cooked but seasoned deliciously. They also give you some fresh tortilla chips and have a great salads bar, the tomatillo salsa was my favorite! The counter service was quick and polite. This is the type of quick dining where you order at the counter and grab it when your number is called. From the counter you can see them grilling FRESH chicken, and tomatoes for their FRESH salsa. Their salsa is delectable and it's included when you dine in, you can serve yourself from their salsa bar. My "go tos" are the chicken quesadilla and chicken nachos. The quesadilla is just perfect and is served with pico, sour cream and guac. The nachos are a mound of nachos with oven melted cheese with all the good toppings. When I'm feeling adventurous I order a street taco or a chicken cali wrap. Zona is FRESH, fast and super consistent. Our workplace has a knack for choosing excellent restaurants to do lunch for everyone. This time, it chose Zona Fresca. The presentation was amazing! All containers arrived in large, branded carry bags. Some employees took bags with them...maybe as keepsakes??? We had our choice of chicken, steak, or vegetarian burritos. Each cardboard container had the choose checked. The slogan was "Not your everyday Mexican food... Mexican food you can eat every day!" We agree! We ordered the taco plate: which came with 2 tacos, beans of your choice & cilantro rice, I choose the steak taco gringo style which has lettuce, tomato, cheese & sour cream; a pork taco which has shredded pork, pickled onions & cilantro & pinto beans that were so delicious. Shrimp and mango salad that was full of fresh and crispy lettuce, and veggies & flavorful shrimp. Zona Fresca was a nice surprise in Pompano Beach. The food had excellent flavor and the portions were very large. I had the fish tacos and they were fantastic. We knew this spot was decent because there was a line at an off-time of day. The kids had quesadillas and they came with rice and beans. My wife had chicken tacos and I would recommend the fish instead. We had some guacamole and it was also good as well. Only knock was the staff wasn't too happy, but restaurant work is hard and you never know how the day was going. Definitely recommend this place and still craving those fish tacos! read more

My first time going to this Zona Fresco. Most of the booths and tables were taken. Clyde and I went to the front desk to order. There were a few people in line ahead of us. When it was our turn we stepped up to the counter. There was a big menu board hanging behind the reception desk. I'm not very familiar with Zona Fresca's menu. I asked the person taking orders at the counter if they had a specialty. He described several dishes. He said I should try the fish taco. The taco came with rice, beans, and a small salad. I've never eaten a fish taco before and I decided to try it. We took an empty booth and waited for our food to be ready. The fish taco was delicious. Perfectly cooked, tender, with a slight crunch. The rice, beans, and salad was delicious also. Clyde had the three taco plate. He said it was very good. The restaurant appeared to be clean. The staff was very nice. I'm looking forward to going back for another fish taco. I just called the restaurant and I found out that they no longer serve the margarita. read more

Came here for lunch today not even thinking about how many people have tacos on Tuesday! What a wonderful experience. Read the menu on the wall and ordered two tacos -- a shrimp one and a fish one. The shrimp one isn't listed and only usually gone with onions and cilantro but I got it to have the same ingredients as the fish one -- per the counter persons suggestion. He also confirmed to me their fish type. It's Corvina (used often in Peruvian ceviche). My husband ordered their machacha burrito. You order and pay at the counter. Your number is listed on your receipt which they call out when ready. You help yourself to your drinks from a separate station. If you'd like, they give you a free basket of chips while you are waiting. Get them! They are addictive. The separate salsa bar was a very good addition. Mild salsa and pico de gallo for me. Hot salsa and marinated carrots and jalapeños for him. Fresh lime wedges for both of us! My tacos were soft and doubled (two stacked together). Each was delicious filled with cabbage, pico, and dressing. The shrimp was warm and the fish was lightly breaded. Fresh and tasty. I'd probably get a side of guacamole next time also. My husband's beef machaca burrito was huge -- luckily they cut it in half to make it easier to eat. Just packed with shredded beef, pinto beans, cheese, avocado, lettuce and pico in a soft wrap. It, too, was very good. I'm not usually a fan of most chains and Mexican food isn't one of my favorite cuisines, either, but this one really lived up to its slogans -- fresh Mexican Grill. And "Mexican food you can eat every day". There are 6 (soon to be 7) locations in Florida with another one in NJ. If there's one in your neighborhood, try them. We are at this Zona Fresca just about twice a month, and it's always a nice and pleasant meal. We normally have a variety of items so that the kids can share different things. We love their Pozole soup....it is so good and full of chicken, hominy & veggies. The kids like their Quesadillas and Tacos, and we have the 2 Taco Combo Plate or different Tacos and Chile Rellenos. I usually enjoy my meals at Zona. It's my go-to when I want a fresh salad with yummy ingredients. Unfortunately because of COVID-19 I'm on alert to the safety standards of most restaurants. So here's a breakdown: 1- there were signs reminding guests to wear masks while inside (but not enforced and not all employees were wearing masks). When we walked in there's was a group of people standing by cashiers and none were wearing masks. 2-the employees that I noticed wearing masks were the ones preparing your meals so that felt a little better but then the one handling your food is not so it's a bit conflicting. 3-there were signs on tables saying not to sit there to ensure social distance. (Also not enforced--I had to move due to someone sitting at the booth next to me) after I had set up my table with utensils salsa, napkins, drinks, etc. 4-the salsa bar was individually wrapped which was nice. 5- initially we didn't get our chips with our meal so my hubby went to get them and they just gave him one but not one for me which is fine since we shared. 6- food was OK the steak in my dish was a tad overcooked but otherwise not too bad. I try to limit my visits to restaurants and try to opt for takeout instead of dine in. This is obviously a learning curve but I've noticed some establishments adapt/adjust better than others. I think if mgt enforced these safety rules a bit more other folks like myself would feel more comfortable dining in. read more

They are great at this place on Federal Hwy and Pompano. I ordered my food for pickup on the phone. I don't end up at Zona Fresca very often, there aren't too many around. There is this location on Federal Hwy and another one in Coral Springs on University. I was in the area at lunch time and decided to pay a visit today. My favorite menu item is the Cali-Wrap: chicken, melted jack and cheddar cheese, avocado, tomato, onion cilantro and lettuce in their lemony dressing all stuffed into a burrito for $7.95. You can get steak for a buck more. In addition to burritos they have street tacos, regular tacos, quesadillas, nachos, and salads. You can pick vegetarian bean, shrimp, pork, steak, and chicken for your protein. For a fast food place they have a have decent sized menu. After you order your food you can slide on up to the salsa bar and pick from pico de gallo, pickled vegetables, salsa, lime wedges, and my favorite tomatillo. You get a little bag of chips with the burrito so I like to pack up the salsa to go while waiting for my food. The restaurant is decorated very nicely for this price point of food. There are colorful posters on the wall in the dining room and pretty glass pendant lamps over the tables. This seemed like a popular location for this chain with many people coming and going during my visit. Even so my food was delivered quickly.
