My goodness, I did not think this call would result in some of the most incredible tacos I have ever had!! I ordered shrimp, steak, birria. All were great. I was wondering why with the how damn delicious the food is here, how come there isn't much traffic in this place. I brought most of my meal home because the salsa was so so good! I want to buy it by the gallon!! Margaritas: got the house margarita for $10.95..... it was ok. Not too sweet which I like but not great. It was just ok. Queso Cheese: excellent Shrimp Fajitas: so so good but so hot! By time they cooled off enough to eat I filled up on chips and salsa. The seasoning was perfect and I loved the veggies that came with it (mushrooms, carrots, zucchini, squash, onion). The shrimp were a great size but I struggled taking the tail off for some reason. The rice and beans were not great, not a ton of flavor! Burrito Macho: with ground beef. Husband enjoyed it. Gave it 4/5 but ate the whole thing. Warm tortilla chips served without asking and are free of charge no many how many baskets you want (unlike many other Mexican restaurants) the margaritas are served TEXAS style. Large jumbo goblets filled with yummy margaritas (I like mine on the rocks with sugar and salt in the rim). I'm from Texas and if you're looking for Tex Mex this is the place to come. This is a warm and cozy restaurant off the beaten path but it is perfect. The restaurant is family owned by Miquel and Stella who are from Guadalajara Mexico. They're wonderfully warm and you feel welcomed as soon as you walk in. We ordered the flaming queso Steak fajitas and shrimp camarones la creama. I can't say enough about this restaurant. Food is delicious and served in very large portions with rice and beans. The fajitas had all the fixins like sour cream. Guacamole. Warm homemade tortillas (corn and flour) . Excellent service with a smile, but it went downhill from there. We were immediately greeted by a middle-aged woman (possibly the owner) who sat us at a table and took our drink order. She was pleasant and explained the dishes and answered my questions. I ordered a shredded chicken burrito macho which is served with rice and beans inside (I asked only for rice in my burrito). We also ordered a chicken dinner with rice and beans which came with three four tortillas. Although the burrito looked good, it sure didn't taste good. The rice had a chemical taste to it that I struggle to describe. The shredded chicken was dry, overcooked, making it difficult to chew. The sauce that was poured over the burrito was oily and harsh tasting. As for the chicken dinner dish, let's just say that the beans were so runny that we should have ran out the door with them. The service-- The service was good. Our waitress was nice and was pretty diligent-- so 4 stars for her! But the food. Y'all... the food was like inedible. The beans-- The beans were hard and some crunchy (not fully cooked), and they had been watered down (I'm assuming since it was later in the evening, they added some water to the beans to make them stretch???). You could see the water separating from the beans. They were also really flavorless. I took one bite of the beans and then told my family to not eat them. I didn't want us to get sick from eating undercooked beans. The rice -- pale rice, no flavor, and a bit crunchy. I'm used to Mexican rice being really flavorful and also orange or red tinged, but this rice was like white. No flavor, no seasonings.... I'm unsure how this was considered Mexican rice. The carne asada-- flavorless and small portion. The pollo a la crema-- was decent. It was the best thing we had ordered. Overall I would not recommend this restaurant or eat here again. Maybe we just caught them on a bad night??? It was a waste of money and when we left, we had to go grab more dinner from somewhere else. However, it was nothing to rave about. Seasoning was off and it would not make me go back for it. I could make it 10x more flavorful at home. The sirloin steak entree was good. Completely edible and filling. But, again something was missing. It was cooked well, seasoned well but, doesn't wow you. The beans were delicious and fresh avocado! I want to make it clear that for the area it's authentic. I mean, it's in east Pompano. However, something was off with our experience and food. It was ordinary and nothing special.Maybe it was an off day or cook wasn't all there. Would I recommend it? If you need a quick lunch in the area and have zero expectations. Our family visited for lunch and loved the bright colors and authenticity on a drab rainy day in Pompano Beach (it is rainy season, after all). We didn't have any alcoholic drinks so I can't speak to that but they looked fantastic. Its a Tuesday night and you know exactly what that means..TACOS! My friend suggested Dos Amigos and I said Ole, I will be there! The weather on the way was ominous but the light at the end of that rainbow was the fact that I was trying a place I have driven past way too many times but this time I was eating there! Located in the Beacon shopping plaza on US 1 in pompano is Dos Amigos! A clean small restaurant with a wait staff consisting of 2 women and a young boy. When I say they hustled they did an awesome job accommodating everyone and serving them in a timely fashion! The place filled up rather quickly when we arrived and it didnt take any time at all to get drinks and their complementary chips and salsa! We ordered with one of the women (I didnt get her name) and I chose the chili relleno, enchilada and taco combo plate that came with re fried beans and rice. I chose beef for my taco and chili relleno and cheese and onions for my enchilada. My friend had the Tres Enchiladas. Those were beef, chicken and cheese. I took my chili relleno home because I was stuffed after eating the chiips and salsa and my taco and my enchilada. That was my only meal today so I dont feel like I over did it! Even though I ate beef it wasnt a large fatty quantity. The taco was a little greasy but thats what you expect from a good taco. The place was packed when we left and we rolled ourselves out the door back into torrid weather and made it home full and satisfied!
