I was here before and loved the food. This time I had a different food experience. It was not what I had tasted before. The food was not bad just different. It was missing that Mexican flavor and I don't mean heat lol. I didn't taste citrus or cilantro in anything. It was not what I was expecting from a Mexican restaurant. I was disappointed. We started with the stuffed jalapeños they tasted great. I ordered the Stake Tampiquena. It was good but had no Spanish flavor. The beans the same, no seasoning. My friend had the Hellfire Dammation Enchiladas thinking it was going to be spicy but they were not.he likes heat. He had to put hot sauce to feel some heat. We both were disappointed with the lock of flavors both dishes had. I was looking the other customers around me and noticed everyone was much older and same ethnicity. I thought maybe this Mexican restaurant had tone flavors down for them. I could understand. The staff was great. Our waiter was great. Checked on us and gave good customer service. read more

The three stars are because the people were quite nice, but overall I really didn't like my meal. I ordered the two tacos -- one chicken and one beef -- without scallions. When I got my order they gave me two beef tacos, but they quickly corrected that once I pointed it out. The refried beans were lukewarm -- I gave them to my husband -- and the rice was just okay. The chicken taco was better than the beef one. The ground meat was so macerated that it had no flavor. I didn't even want to take the extra free taco home. Okay, so first off -- the food here really is very yummy, and the portions are definitely on the bigger side. No complaints there. It's a nice spot to bring family or friends, and we did have a good time overall. My daughter even got a virgin margarita (don't worry -- virgin, of course), and she looked absolutely adorable in the picture I took. It was a cute moment and honestly one of the highlights. As I was waiting for my car to be serviced, I decided to stop at Baha Cafe for lunch. The staff were very friendly, stopping by to ask how everything was. I ordered the Gator Tacos and a side of Queso. The tacos had a kick to them, some spice in the sauce. The ambiance was very Mexican and the windows had art work on them which blocked out the light, it was dark inside. The bar area is very small. The food was gawd awful.. they used to make a shredded beef taco in a handmade crispy corn taco shell. They sent out two shredded shoe leather tacos in a premade hard shell. The quesadilla was delicious and out of this world; grilled chicken and cheese; with rice and beans. Fajitas was another selection. The meat was tender and the flour tortilla warm and soft. Sauteed bell peppers and onions all joined together made for a great meal. Washed it down with a mango daiquiri. Unfortunately too full for dessert lol. Visiting for a work trip and looking for a place for dinner. Baja Cafe was close by my hotel and had great reviews. As a single dinner I chose a table close to the bar. The restaurant had larger tables in the main dining area. I started off with a mango margarita- soo good! And a hearty bowl of chips and salsa. The chips were warm and tasted homemade and the salsa flavorful with a little kick of heat. For dinner I chose the Hellfire & Damnation Enchiladas - chicken enchiladas with green/tomatillo sauce and pick de gallo. The portions were just right and the enchiladas super flavorful. Overall everything was a bit more more Tex-mex flavor but good nonetheless. My server was also tending bar but very attentive and great at her job. It was a leisurely dinner for me and she was great to not be too pushy - allowing me to take my time after a long day at work away from home. Occasion : Friend send off So we arrived at Baja Café and it's a very cute and small restaurants located in Deerfield beach. Decoration was nice, the staff was nice and it was fairly easy to get seated for a group of six. They allowed us to also decorate the table which was super sweet of them. Food: I had the Satan's revenge which was OK. I originally asked for the ground beef to be replaced and to have pulled chicken and I had to send back my first order because it had the ground beef in it. I then got my correct order 10 minutes later and it was good. They offer chips and salsa which the chips was warm and fresh however the salsa tasted as if it was canned salsa. Margarita: We ordered two rounds of buckets margaritas and other people at the table did enjoy it , However I wish I stuck to the regular menu and order something on there. Just left with my family of 5. Our waiter was a mid 20s male and NOT HAPPY. We spent over $200 and this kid couldn't even smile. No refills or extra napkins, we had to ask for extra everything, including refills and to go boxes and for the check. Couldn't even get his attention as he walked by us. I ordered the Margarita special and gator tacos. Both were pretty good! They also serve fresh chips and salsa before your food arrives. Their salsa is delicious. I asked for the chefs hottest pepper sauce; a fresh verde green pepper salsa, it's got a good kick and really great flavor. The restaurant is GOOD. The staff is very friendly and very accommodating. Let me start by writing that it's been years since I devoured Baja Cafe's Chimichanga. One of the best, if not the best I have ever tasted. Being that it's been years and my appetite has altered... I do not eat beef, and I always have detested chicken and pork. What they did for me tonight, was absolutely incredible and in truth... they are in trouble. I now have the PERFECT chimichanga with Spinach & Mahi... yes... I am paying for the portion of Mahi that is in the Mahi Asada... so, $5.00 more and let me share this... it's worth every penny!!!! I forgot how amazing their guacamole and salsa were too... and, that frozen margarita- cannot be beat. What made the occasion even extra was the their service. Met up with my friend for lunch because she swears by this place. She and her husband go all the time apparently. We went on a Wednesday around 130-200. We were seated and served chips and salsa right away. I really liked them, nice and crispy with the right amount of salt. The salsa was very good also. The server was also the bartender. I am not sure if someone else was on break or what, but you could tell that the server was mildly annoyed at doing both. My friend ordered a salad and asked about cutting up the chicken and the server/bartender is like "Yeah we don't do that because we dont have a chopper and plus it would look unappealing." Ummm what? Cut up chicken on a salad looks unappealing? I guess she hasn't evern been to any place that has salads with chicken because most places cut the chicken into strips. The server/crankpot then asked my friend what kind of dressing she wanted on the salad and my friend said the one is usually comes with (since my friend said she orders it all the time) and again we got a snarky remark "It is whatever dressing you want." So my friend said she didn't want any. Totally off-putting. My friend apologized for it and I said it was most definitely not her fault that the server was a crab. I ordered a salad also but didn't leave any room for the server to get sassy with me because it may have turned ugly. I ordered it the way it came and that was that. The food came out pretty fast but I was totally put off by the large amounts on sour cream and guacamole on the salad. It is like they used a regular ice cream scoop instead of the smaller ones most places used for those things. It took over the whole salad. I had to scrape it off and put it on a napkin because crankypants didn't come back to check on us, as she had several patrons mosey up to the bar. Did not have to wait more than a few minutes and a waiter came over and asked if we would like to order drinks and as he wants to get him, he came back with two bowls of salsa one extra hot and delicious nachos.
