This was my wife choice. Our new go to taco spots were closed so he tried La Lupe. Right of the bat, the restaurant was very clean and had a simple but relaxed atmosphere. The service was very good and friendly. For the food, I have to so we were not disappointed. The chips and salsa were good, however the salsa could have had a bit more flavor. Stopped in for lunch today. We seated ourselves, no greeting or acknowledgement from staff. After sitting a few minutes a server finally brought over menus and took drink order. My wife asked for some sweetener for her tea, I was fine with my water. We decided what to order, still no sweetener, and waited for the server to return. She was socializing with two young men near the window. The other server was socializing with a four top of young men. I had steak, carnitas, and al pastor tacos. All of them were delicious and authentic with the diced onion and cilantro. The refried beans are creamy and topped with white cheese. This restaurant is how not to treat customers. From the moment we walked in, we were transparent five people, separate checks. Somehow that magically qualified us as a "large party," triggering an automatic 20% gratuity that was never disclosed beforehand. When questioned, the staff's response was as dismissive as it was unprofessional: "Do a chargeback, see if I care." That alone tells you everything you need to know about their service standards. The elote tasted like canned corn slathered in mayonnaise, and the rest of the dishes were mediocre. The only thing remotely commendable were the sauces which, ironically, had more flavor than the service or atmosphere combined. Save yourself the disappointment there are plenty of places that understand authenticity is about respect, not attitude.Go to Taco bell if you want better service without the attitude. read more

I've been here twice, once for taco Tuesday and another time for their fajitas. I enjoyed myself both times. I love the way it looks on the inside with the Cantinflas wall art and Mexican decorations. The servers are usually nice, especially the bartender that came over a few times to help out. Their food tastes very authentic. The fajitas are some of the best you can get in the area especially for the price, I got the "La Lupe" which comes with steak, chicken and shrimp. These were good and filling and only 16.99 (5/5) Their queso fundió (6.99) is a decent appetizer but their elote (3.50 each) is better and a must have. Their tacos are also all very good. I had been to La Lupe several times years ago, and while my experience was good, it wasn't always the first restaurant I thought of when I wanted Mexican food. So when my Mexican food hankering kicked in recently, I decided to look at the reviews and saw they had many excellent recent ones on Yelp. it was a sign for me to return here once more. My family and I were greeted as soon as we walked into the restaurant and were told we could sit wherever we wanted The restaurant was clean and had nice decor. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. All our dishes came out fairly quickly, and this is when I started to notice that the food at La Lupe is definitely more elevated than before. The chips and salsa that they bring to your table are delicious. The chips aren't the standard tortilla strips/chips you get at other Mexican restaurants. They are thick and flavorful. I have ordered the shrimp chimichanga in the past, and it was leaps and bounds better than I had remembered. I'm not saying it was bad before, I'm just saying that it's excellent now! The shrimps were fresh, and I really enjoyed the green sauce. My other family members were very pleased with their dishes as well. if I could offer one suggestion, it would be to provide rice and beans with this dish. I definitely will be returning here again in the near future. it's so nice to see a restaurant improve as opposed to go downhill. We had read that this place was really good for Birria tacos so we decided to drive up from Hollywood to try it out. The place is decorated in a trendy fashion with Spanish pop music playing on the speakers and a big mural dedicated to Cantinflas. Everything was very clean. Our server was very friendly and knowledge about their offerings. We ordered the birria tacos (3 per order), a carne asada taco and an al pastor taco. The food came out in a timely manner. The carne on the carne asada taco was tasty but that was it on the plate so you may wanna order two at a time. The birria tacos unfortunately for us were ok. La Lupe has authentic tacos and some of the best salsa I've had. I truly enjoy mild salsa. I like to taste the flavors of all of the vegetables minus the spice. I was blown away at their inexpensive prices and food quality. The service was great even though it was busy. Almost all the tables were full by the time we were leaving, the two servers handled the lunch rush perfectly. The restaurant was clean, even the bathroom and they have lively music at a volume where you can still converse. They have comfortable booths and the deco is as authentic as their tacos. ***ILLEGAL CONSUMER BEWARE *** Lengua Tacos were tiny, cold and not worth it but the taste was good (being honest). Nothing out of this world though. Cheese quesadilla was ok but for the price I prefer Tacobell. Carne asada burrito was ok but again for the price chipotle has better. Elote was boiled and tasted like it had been sitting on water for a long long time gross*. Service was awful, waitress told us we had fresh lemonade but it tasted from concentrate she came back and argued with us and told us it was mixed with orange and thats why it tasted weird. Hmmm interesting, she even came with the manager to convince us. After alot of back and forth they finally agreed to remove it from bill. FOR A LEMONADE?! Then the BILL came. Turns out that groups of 5 are considered large groups and are charged 20% automatic gratuity. This was never told to us at ANY POINT nor are there signs stating this anywhere, nor is it in the Menu . This is ILLEGAL in Florida based on consumer laws. When I spoke to the manager about how wrong it is to charge someone 20% of the bill without their knowledge or previous disclosure, she said "thats how it has always been" (as if we had always been coming here) "I dont care" (literally said this and I have video proof of it. I got with her permission and knowledge). To make matters worse they have the nerve of asking for additional tip cause apparently 20% is for service NOT TIP. I will be filing a complaint with the Florida Attorney General's office not disclosing a 20% fee is illegal and predatory behavior. read more

The ladies here rock the service. They work as a team to address the needs of every party (there's only 2!!). The food always comes out quick, delicious, and is super authentic. My favorite go to would be the Birria tacos (served as 3 tacos with or without cheese) and that delicious "soup" to dip them in. Next fav would be the pork belly or lengua (tongue) tacos. Served simply with a corn tortilla, onions and cilantro and their AMAZING green salsa (served on the side). The fajitas are great but the real winner for me would be the La Lupe Nachos. We arrived on a weekday around 1:30pm and there was no wait to get a table. The gentleman waiter wiped off the table and provided the menus fairly quickly. Right after we ordered, the chips and salsa came. The chips looked home made, thick and crispy and the salsa came with two extra bottles of fiery sauce for added spice. I mixed some for myself since my friends are not "spicy" people. They were really good. We got the following: - Pollo burrito. Nice and big. They grill the whole burrito which gives an extra texture and bite to the ration. - Nachos with carnitas. This is an item off the menu. It was really good. A layer of refried beans at the bottom and the chips nicely toasted on top. Then a nice layer of fresh cheese and carnitas finished off the presentation of the dish. Really good. I liked it a lot. The guacamole, pico de gallo and sour cream were all on the side. - Steak Fajitas. I had asked for them to be made with little oil and on the lighter side, but they came very oily. My new go to for Mexican food! This is the closest I have found to the authentic kind I'm used to having back home in Southern CA. We started with their chips and salsa. The chips are what I assume to be made in house based on look and taste. They were great. Salsa was not spicy at all so we added their red hot sauce and it was perfect. My chicken burrito was awesome (and big enough to save half). My dad got a shrimp taco and a campechano taco (half steak/chorizo). He liked them both and agreed they were the closest we've had to the authentic Mexican food we're used to. Our waitress was great. The inside is cute but definitely causal. The corn on the cob was prepared perfectly, not mushy, and seasoned properly as well. The crema and queso Blanco were wonderful as well. I also had Baja fish and chicken tacos. This small casual restaurant located on the north side of Atlantic boulevard was easy to access. There's parking right out front. The server/owner was friendly. He was waiting on everyone and handled it well. We stopped by for lunch and they were fairly busy. Each group was welcomed, given menus, and had their drink orders taken. I had a few questions about the menu. And they were easily answered. While waiting for our main meals, we were given chips and salsa. These were the real deal chips -- the thicker, house made ones. They are addictive. The salsa was mild. We were also given 2 different bottles of hotter sauces, if we wanted to add more spice. I got their birria tacos -- one of the most popular choices. The meat is shredded short rib off the bone. It was so tender. Three (3) soft tacos comes per order. They are topped with the meat, chopped raw onions and cilantro. A small cup of broth (sauce/drippings) along side for dipping. And a few cut limes, as well. Loved these birria! You can also get them with cheese, if you wish. My husband got one of their "plates". He chose grilled chicken -- which was tender also. On the plate with the boneless white meat chicken was Mexican rice and refried beans plus a soft flour tortilla folded in half around cheese filling. We had cokes, but they have jaritos sodas, as well as beer and margaritas. For dessert, we shared a flan. It was very good with a nice sweet caramel topping. The ambiance is very nice and casual. Really chill and very welcoming. I was greeted immediately as I sat down and promptly served my drink. The food came not too long after and it was just ok. The steak and other fixings were hot and fresh but the rice was not and the items were on either side so you couldn't get everything in one bite for that perfect bite.
