The interior vibes are fun and colorful with the locals that have painted the ceiling tiles. The service very good and friendly. It's been years since I visited Tijuana Flats, so I decided to take advantage of their Taco Tuesday special--2 tacos for $6.99. They also have a current offer of $2 for queso or guacamole. The staff was welcoming, and despite the busyness, the service was prompt. For to-go orders, I appreciate the foil packaging that retains heat and keeps the fillings in place. When I arrived home, everything was still warm. However, my order wasn't entirely accurate. I requested the cheese and sour cream on the side; while the sour cream was on the side, the cheese was not. The food tasted fresh, and I regretted not ordering more hard shell tacos, as I didn't enjoy the flour ones. The combination of beef and refried beans lacked seasoning and flavor. On the other hand, the chicken tacos were much better, both hard and soft shell. The chips and queso were delicious, as always. There is ample seating available both inside and outside, along with a self-serve spice-level counter and clean surroundings. While the service and chips and queso were great, the inaccurate order and some underwhelming fillings left room for improvement. Yesterday I bought a quesadilla with blackened chicken, cheese, sour cream, and it was absolutely fresh and delicious. The tortilla was cooked perfectly. It was not burned. It was perfect and the chicken was so tender and tasty and I was able to eat every bite as a matter of fact, they gave me such a big one. I had two meals off of it. Honestly, I'm bummed to have to give this 2 stars! I went for Cinco de Mayo to get some takeout because I was craving chips and salsa. I will say the salsa is delicious and my favorite and has been for years. I haven't actually ordered a meal from this place in a very long time but I decided to get the enchiladas with blackened chicken. I have never had a worse enchilada in my life. The chicken was barely seasoned at all, and the inside of the enchilada itself was so dry and I don't even think there was cheese on it. I had to smother the top of the enchilada with salsa and sour cream and hot sauce just to make it moist enough to eat. The atmosphere is good, the staff was working hard, the place was really busy and it seemed like food was coming out decently quickly given it being Cinco de Mayo - so really the biggest issue was the food. Which is honestly the whole reason you go to a restaurant. I love Tijuana flats. It's as simple as that. I go there at least once a week whether for Tijuana Taco Tuesdays or Throwback Burrito Thursdays. It's a great local chain that I enjoy for Tex-Mex that always has a consistent taste. I usually get the chicken and refried bean option with all the toppings and it's always sooo good. The hot sauce bar is also a great option. I love the Mae-Ploy sauce for chips and to put inside the burrito. The service is also quick and you never have to wait awhile whether it's to dine in or eat out. This location never disappoints. The staff are always friendly, smiling, and ready to explain the selections and entrees. The location itself is awesome, centered near a little of everything. Inside of the restaurant is always clean. I was excited to learn they now had shrimp on the menu. I ordered the shrimp bowl, my son had shrimp tacos and we shared a nacho trio for an appetizer. I loved my bowl but my son's crispy shrimp were amazing, seasoned so well, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I am also going to Google how to make pickled onions because the purple onions that were garnished was a first for me, and I've never tasted anything like it, addicting. These dishes are definitely a hit, and aesthetically pleasing. Street corn take over event was pretty good. The food was great. My husband had the street corn bowl with chicken and I had the street corn quesadilla with chicken. Our kids had nachos, bean tacos and chicken wings. Everyone was pretty happy with their food. Great shopping plaza not that much parking near this particular spot but it wasn't crowded so we got a great parking space. What was not that nice was we couldn't find garbage cans anywhere to throw things away. We were originally sitting outside but went inside because of all the bugs. About 40 mins later when we went to leave the mess we made was still sitting on the outside table There is no clear "order here" Sign just a "pick up here" sign. Being as this was my first time there I sat at the table waiting to be served and not knowing I had to go place my order. Not once did a staff member come tell me ... I had to watch other guest come and go until I figured out how the entire thing worked. On top of all of that there is a leak in the ceiling right where you pick up your food. The water had run all the way back to where the restrooms were. I let a staff member know that there was water back there and she just looked at me like I was inconveniencing her. Made the decision to grab their new 2 for 20 Monday night special while kids outside home with grandparent. It is offered as two entrees, two drinks, and a starter. That's not really a true starter ...aka appetizer. The starter here is chips and queso, however, you don't get any additional chips over the 12-15 chips from your entree side. So it's simply just a small thing of yellow or white queso. You then get two entrees of your choice (that already came with chips) and a medium drink. The entrees are always small on protein and didn't see any option to upgrade them other than the steak protein up charge. We got a burrito and a chimichanga with whole wheat wrapping. Burritos have veggies inside, chimichanga doesn't. The lettuce and tomato were on side for chimichanga but looked old. The employees here are ok, but always seem to be cutting corners and missing part of the takeout order, so check well before leaving . This time the beans were indeed on side however none of the hot sauce requested on app order were included. This location always seems just ok, but not the best of the best. My rating is not based on the food as I did not eat here but I was curious as to their menu offerings so I went inside. It's pretty much a Tex-Mex style restaurant, serving tacos, chimichangas, enchiladas, nachos, flautas, Mexican pizza, bowls, regular and wet burritos, quesadillas, etc. What struck me as most surprising were the names of their sauces lol and the amount they had. Came to TFlats for Street Corn Takeover and I was not disappointed. Their food is always fresh, the staff is always on point, and they always have the best hot sauce bar. Ordered the street corn bowls with beef and one with chicken, street corn on the cob, and street corn tacos. I have been to Tijuana Flats quite a bit but have never had the bowl- so delish. A great combination of chicken, corn, guac, and fresh toppings on top of rice. What I like about the bowl is that it doesnt have too much rice and has the right amount of toppings. Had to come to Yelp to let everyone know how good our food was yesterday! I'm not a huge quick service diner but after our workout my husband I were starving so we decided to order delivery. I was extremely impressed how well packed the food was, it traveled very well! We got the atom bombs 10/10, my husband opted for the mega burrito with steak - it was a very generous portion and delicious, super fresh. I got a tortilla bowl chicken and black bean salad, again traveled really well, wasn't soggy upon delivery and was soooo good! Then we tried the new churro bites, another 10! I had a taco salad with chicken delivered to me. It was a perfect salad. It Had everything I wanted and I love their bowls you can eat. they taste so good ! they give you a free chips and guacamole. Tonight we went to one of my moms favorite fast food joints Tijuana Flats. Going inside, the place had a adequate amount of social distanced seating. For tonight, I ordered a salad with the blackened chicken with avocado ranch dressing, my little sister had a chicken quesadilla, my mom got 2 steak tacos, and my dad the chicken burrito. Going into tonight's pros; I surprisingly found that the salad was very good as the chunky amounts of avocado inside and ranch dressing complimented the salad very well. Also, the service recieved upfront was very friendly. However, we were not as highly satisfied tonight with the chicken quesdillia, burrito, and steak tacos. The burrito overall was tasty, however it lacked a sufficient amount of chicken and the black beans inside were watery. In addition, the quesdilla was also disappointing as it was dry inside and lacked cheesiness. Furthermore, the steak tonight was chewier than usual. So, there are at least three Tijuana flats in my vicinity and this one I choose no matter what! The customer service is literally always perfection, every single young man and woman there shows kindness and respect and cleanliness. The manager Trace who I've met twice is absolutely amazing and so attentive. Tonight I decided to come in 30 minutes before they close, hoping that I could get some thing simple.. Forgetting the fact that it was taco Tuesday, their busiest night! When I walked in it was completely packed! I thought for one second this may be the first time that I get a little less than amazing service to which I was just fine with.. But once again, they were quick- the manager said hello the moment I walked in and also to every single other guest as well! He didn't miss a beat! Also, the two team members who helped me while I was ordering we're just so kind and patient. I like to order chips and queso with multiple sides in order to keep my food from getting soggy because I take a nice drive to get there.. And with all the patience in the world, he continued to question anything else that I needed, and even had to ask for a little help in order to put in part of my order but was still so kind! While you wait you can explore their hot sauce bar that ranges from the mild to set you on fire. If you want salsa you will have to pay extra here. On Tuesdays you can get a deal on two tacos, chips & a drink for $5.99. You can sign up for their email club in the restaurant that will keep you in the know about other deals. They serve beer if you are so inclined. I always think of the decor here as if Hot Topic opened a Tex Mex place. The look of the employees are on the edgy alternative side. The service you get here is typical of other places in this price point. On Tuesdays and Thursdays it can get quite crowded with a long wait but on this night at 6 PM it was strangely empty. The food is average. You get a good amount for your money and it's filling. They offer whole wheat tortillas and taco shells so if you leave off the queso and stick to the veggies this is a healthy option. If you are a vegetarian they have a lot of meatless options. They are always selling special items to raise money to help the community. For instance they offer pink chips in October to raise money for breast cancer. Everything we tried was Fresh and Delicious! The Shrimp Menu is phenomenal! We tried the Atom Bombs, Shrimp Tacos and Shrimp Quesadillas. The staff was very sweet and accommodating. The lime sauce and salsa were very good. The Street Corn Tacos with steak were were served with alot of lettuce in fact so was the bowl even though lettuce wasnt listed in ingredients on the menu. Thy flesh is built upon tacos and hot sauce flows through my viens. If you do come here on those days, expect it to be pretty busy. The line moves pretty fast and ordering is easy peasy. Despite the hungry crowds, I can usually find a seat before my food arrives. Food usually takes 5-10 minutes to arrive. The tacos are well stacked with a generous amount of meat and toppings. My only complaint is that the shredded cheese can sometimes be very cold and bring down the overall deliciousness. The burritos are rather large and always very hot. Your meal is always served on a tray of crispy tortilla chips, and of course you can ask for salsa or queso. Now onto the best part, the service. You can search the world twice over and still not find cashiers and servers like the friendly smiles you'll see here. Like clock work, one of lollipop gang will appear every few minutes out of thin air to ensure your food is tip top and ask if you need a refill. Even if you don't need a refill, you do need a refill. Look to the left, right, up, down, forward, backward, under the table and in the closet when you get home and there you will find a server waiting to be the nicest person you'll ever meet. For having to wait so long they said that they would comp the order but never did.. after we finally got the order we left and drove home only to find that the item the other guy was missing was in our bag and we did not get what we ordered. This location is a joke. I contacted the company about a hair wrapped in my chimichanga. As you can see in the pictures this hair is intertwined in my chimichanga. Tijuana Flats has always been a nice, reliable place to grab a quick bite to eat, so I was rather happy to see them open this location in my neck of the woods. No, it's not "authentic" Mexican food by any means, but anyone who expects that is barking up the wrong tree. I suppose I'm rather predictable, but I always order the same thing here and I'm never disappointed. My meal of choice is the chicken quesadilla on whole wheat (I like that you get to choose your tortilla... the whole wheat is delicious). It comes with a generous portion of chips, and I also order a side of salsa in which to dunk both the quesadilla and chips. The ingredients always taste fresh, and the quality is consistently good. While my meal is being prepared, I sidle up to the hot sauce bar, and get a variety of hot sauces (I mix them into the salsa). My favorites are "Don't be a Chicken Shit" and "Georgia Peach" - the latter is my absolute fave, and other Tijuana Flats locations I've been to don't have it very often. This location, however, has it every time I've been, so that makes me all the more likely to come here rather than other locations. The staff here is always super friendly and welcoming, which makes visiting here all the more pleasant of an experience. I got the queso crunch burrito it came with chips and a medium drink. The burrito was really good it was packed with juicy steak and the cilantro lime sauce had really good flavor with the queso inside. The tortillas had a good crunch exactly what the burrito needed. I wish they would've have added a little more chips to it they were being stingy on that but the queso was really good better than the salsa I would go there again! My first ever trip to Tijuana Flats ended in food poisoning (not from this location), so I've always been a little, well, a lot leery of coming back here. I decided to lower my fear wall and give it another shot. Basically, I really wanted a quesadilla. I've never been a fan of the inside of a Tijuana Flats. Too much color and just really busy. I get what it's trying to do, but it for me does nothing. I feel like I'm inside of a glow in the dark mini golf place, not a Mexican cantina. They've got their sauce bar which is a stable of all locations. I love it except their containers are so tiny. One good dip and it's empty. You either make 100 trips or you use 100 plastic cups. One is bad for the environment and the other is bad because I'm kind of lazy. I ordered chips and salsa. I should have guessed at $6.99 that the portion was big, but I wasn't expecting what looked like an entire bag of chips dumped into a bowl with salsa on the side, well placed on the top of the chips. Wow, this was enough to feed a family, but I finished because I'm kind of a pig. I ordered the chicken quesadilla. You can make it a meal by adding rice and beans. My bean were refried and they were epic.The quesadilla was pretty tasty too. I like the chicken, the cheese was plentiful, and it was filled with other goodies like lettuce, tomatoes, jalapenos, and onions. The employees were constantly walking around, asking if everything was to your liking. I watched them help several people out at the sauce bar. The staff was friendly and definitely willing to help.
