In Cincinnati so stopped by for a bite. I had the Mazorca con pollo y tocineta which was basically corn "off the cob" mixed with shredded chicken, bacon and cheese. It had these little dried potato sticks on it that the menu referred to as potato chips. I thought the serving looked small but was surprised that it filled me up. Some members of my party are fluent in Spanish and the waiter was very generous with his time when they asked him about the menu in his native language. Probably a great place to watch the World Cup as soccer was on several tv screens. read more

Second time here, second time awesome! The owners are Colombian, so I don't have to talk about how authentic it is. The maracuyá (passion fruit juice) is delicious and obviously fresh. I love the arepas - the sauce with the chicken gives it a great taste. My wife's arroz con pollo was delicious (and served with some amazing french fries). Last time we came, our friend had the bandeja paisa and raved about it. Cincinnati needs more places with authentic food and character like Zona V.I.P. Tried this place because the Columbian menu was intriguing, so I was surprised at the large selection of hot dogs and the appearance of fries with many items, but I don't know what they serve in the streets of Columbia. We both ordered the arroz con pollo. It came with a mound of rice, two large thin chicken breasts, a marinated salad, and fries. The salad was crisp and very tasty, and fries were perfectly done. The chicken was very nicely seasoned but tough. The server was very attentive and eager to assist, and because of him I will give it a second chance. read more

First time here...first time trying Colombian food. We tried Bandera Paisa and the Mazorca de Carne. Both dishes were delicious and generous portions we took a small doggie bag home. It was a Sunday afternoon, we were the first ones there and then several others joined in. While waiting for our food we looked around and the place is small, clean and modest. A table next to us were drinking these colorful drinks and we asked them what they were. They were a young group of Colombians and told us they were fruit drinks which are very popular in Colombia. So we decided to try the passion fruit and we liked it very much. Lots a flavors on the plate, couldn't decide which to try first. I can't wait to go back and try one of the hardy soups. We found out about it from an ad in the Reach magazine. Happy to see diversity and try different foods. read more

We were really excited to find colombian food in Cincinnati, especially since we are from Colombia. The food was just OK but one of us, after eating sancocho got the worst case of food poisoning you could imagine. I tried the soup and it tasted strange, not like sancocho.Another person ate the whole bowl. After that it was a night of hurling and next day sick in bed. We still are not better so we are considering the hospital. read more

Went here for the first time tonight and will definitely be back! Never had Colombian food before but it was simply wonderful and very unique. We had a couple of arejas, one chorizo and one chicken and bacon. My wife got the chicken soup which was awesome and I had the banderia paisa (sp?) which was a nice sampling of different things. Me and my sister came here looking for some authentic Colombian street food. We were greeted by the owner and his wife (two very friendly and welcoming people). She accommodated an order that wasn't on the menu by just charging me for sides of what I wanted. The beans, rice, and shredded beef were perfectly cooked and had lots of flavor. The empanadas were simply amazing. I enjoyed the chicken and the cheese empanadas, but I have to say my favorite was the beef, rice, and egg one (and I hate eggs). They're actually filled with meat and not with potatoes, unlike lots of other Columbian restaurants. I definitely would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for some authentic Columbian street/fast food. I prefer this place over La Colombiana in Dayton. I'll be making the drive to Cincinnati more often! Also, the friendly owner brought our food out to us since we waited outside with our dog. read more

This place is exactly what I was hoping it would be. I've been here twice and I'm amazed with the quality of the food, and how friendly the family that runs it are. Their chicharon is to die for I love the arepas and the steak as well. I hope to try the soups sometime soon. Looking for a change of pace and found it this evening at Zona VIP in Springdale. The food is described as Colombian street food and it is well prepared and delicious. Servings are generous and prices are reasonable. We started with a small plate of plantains and a cheese empanada and then consulted our server for help with entrees. We ordered the arroz con pollo, served with french fries and the ox-tail special. The ox-tail and lengua (tongue) are not listed on the menu but are apparently frequently avaiable. Great choices! The ox-tail, served with a small salad, fried potatoes,and white rice was so tender and perfectly seasoned. Thd arroz con pollo was much more than the name suggests. With a soda and coffee our bill was around $32, plus tip. The server was terrific, helpful and super friendly, if maybe a bit overextended. I am looking forward to returning soon to sample the lengua and some arepas! read more

This was a wonderful find on an early Saturday evening. We wanted to order everything but settled on sharing an arepa, which was exquisite, an empanada, a 'corn off the cob' dish that was addictive and what seems to be a main star, the Bandeja Paisa. The food came out of the kitchen freshly prepared and hot. There were 2 others eating there, quietly absorbed in a televised soccer game with the sound thankfully off. I was impressed that the cutie pie waiter turned down the music which was too loud for conversation. While we were there a lot of carry out orders left the building and other diners began to arrive. The feel of the place, while a bit spartan, was homey, laid back and comfortable. We will decidedly be back and have told several others about this place. A bonus was the bill, much more reasonable than a chain restaurant, for food far more superlative. read more

This is a good place if you like soups like Ajiaco and Sancocho - the soup serving sizes are very generous and I've heard they are good (from people in my dining party who eat these dishes often). The empanadas, while they have a good flavor, are so greasy that the grease just runs down your hand while you're eating it. Plus they are served in trays covered with aluminum foil instead of some sort of absorbent material like brown paper. The grease doesn't drain off, just soaks into the empanadas making them less than enjoyable to eat. read more

The food is amazing. The chicken empanada was delicious. They have real pop served in old school glass bottles. You must try the arepas. The prices are very affordable and you a good amount of food. My friend was going to the grocery in the same parking lot as your restaurant this past weekend and had planned to come into your establishment as well. After being stopped by an employee of your restaurant as she was walking to the store, he informed her that she could not park where she was parked because "we pay more for rent". She stated that she was going to the grocery first and he kept walking in front of her avoiding her going into the store and asking her to move her vehicle. He then called her derogatory names in Spanish. Needless to say she is fluent in both English and Spanish and completely understood what he had said. How inexcusable! Very rude for any person of that establishment to speak to her in such way! read more

The empanadas and arepas are incredible! We were there when there were two huge groups dining in, and a third showed up after we started eating. It's a small place, so if it's crowded you can get it to go - I recommend ordering ahead for pick-up, it's super easy and the food is hot! Our waiter also mentioned that they can deliver if the order is large enough, so if you're throwing a party, maybe you should consider empanadas!! I can't get enough of the chicken, and my hubby likes the tipaca empanada best. Can't wait to go back, we've been looking forward to it all week. read more

Superb, simply superb. Sis' is a big fan of their specialty topped hot dogs, our neighbor went along yesterday and got a chicken and rice dish, and I always get the 'sampler' platter. Of particular note, my platter comes with freshly made pork rind, where they take a thick slice of back bacon and fry it up into a thick square that's crunchy like a pork rind on the outside, tender like a pork chop on the inside. It's tough to get out to their location given how early they close with the bad traffic on I-75 North but worth the wait yesterday. read more
