I'm not sure how the technicians are in the back. I've not heard a complaint from my dad though. The waiting area is nice and clean. The coffee machine is a bonus. Fresh ground coffee, too! My only minor complaint is the children's toys in the waiting area. The toys are kind of loud and some parents don't know how to calm their children down and let them go wild. I may be biased though because I do kind of hate children.... Hence, minor complaint. Others were probably not as bothered as I was.

After moving into the city last autumn, all the yearly med stuff was coming back around, including mammogram, and it made more sense to find new places to get that stuff done, instead of driving back out to the old places. My new doctor gave me a list of various places on the insurance I could go to, and said "pick one and get it done". So, I did my research (including, of course, Yelp) and picked Portland Medical Imaging. From first phone call to walking out the door, they aced it. Appointment? Easy, prompt, pleasant. Reception? Easy, friendly, accurate, pleasant. Wait time? None. I was taken in promptly at my appointment time. Facility? Immaculate. Supplies? Considerate. Locking lockers, take the key with you. Shorty gowns, so there isn't extra material to get in the way. Deoderant etc provided if you would like to use it. Coffee in the waiting room. Technician? Outstanding. Thorough. Careful, considerate, gentle. Personable and even funny. They've really got a good thing going; at this point, I would recommend them to friends and family without reservation. Note: I have not received results yet, so if they biff that and don't send them or something, I'll re-review. Also, I have another appointment with them for a different matter in a couple of weeks, so, of course, if my experience is vastly different, I'll re-review. But I'm fairly certain they're just. that. good.

Suggest prospective patents beware. Here are just 3 examples why…read more 1. Earlier this year I had a chest X-ray there regarding a before indicated infection in the lungs. The image was taken on a Monday. I then asked when the results would be issued. The answer: either later that day or certainly by the next day. Whereas, the hospital did NOT notify my M.D until the following Monday. And the essential 'rub'? Already by the time of the X-Ray I had developed multi-focal pneumonia, hence an indefensible delay is being put on a correct anti-bacterial regimen! 2. It's known that OHSU hospital is a teaching institution. Meaning, patients are fully aware beforehand that may well be seen both by a M.D. resident in training, as well as her or his supervising M.D. No such circumstance pertains to this Silverton, Oregon hospital. 3. Now to the issues at hand. Last year I had two differently spaced ultrasounds to monitor a kidney stone. The first time the procedure was accomplished by a fully certified technician. The time to complete the scan was less than 20 minutes. Whereas, for the second one, it was only after about 20 minutes into the procedure that I learned the person doing the scan was a student in training. Too, that procedure took far longer than the prior one. Then, that individual stated that the "supervisor" needed to come in and check on the previous work done. The supervisor than had to 'redo' most of the prior work by the student. 4. Very recently I had occasion to schedule a different kind of ultrasound procedure. At least that time the person identified as a student at some such technical school and also asked it it'd be OK if that person performed the procedure. Very reluctantly I agreed, although briefly I referenced the prior student done--or at least attempted- ultrasound fiasco. Next, after this procedure again was taking an inordinate amount of time, I inquired how much longer to finish. The answer from the student? Only about 50% of the task was completed. At that point, I expressed dismay. Immediately thereafter, an on staff hospital technician took over. He then in comparatively short order then completed the scan.

I have dealt exclusively with the ER. HR professionals in Salem have told me that when the Salem…read moreER is slammed, it pays to go to the ERs in Silverton or Dallas. And I have been told that if I get a systolic BP over 200, to seek medical care. My first two visits, especially when I had hives from latex allergy, I could not have asked for faster or more civil and competent care. My last visit, when I measured systolic at 201 and felt as though I were dying, Dr. Houston burst into my examination room shouting that unless I had stroke or cardiac symptoms, I was to be denied treatment. I know that small-town hospitals are stressed because of recent legislation, and if he had only been civil, I would have understood, but as it was I left in a fury. I was given a code to register with their online chart system, but was denied entry because (I think) they have my telephone number wrong. I tried through their phone system to reach someone in records, but was balked at every turn. I'd have to. go in person to correct my records. Don't get me wrong, most of the staff are entirely satisfactory, but they have individuals that need a talking to, and their phone system should be made more transparent. And I'm only talking about the ER.

The frequency with which I'm having to review hospitals is not exactly ideal, but...here we go…read moreagain. My wife had a diabetes-related incident which required two days worth of hospitalization, so we were treated to a wide variety of Legacy Emanuel's departments, from intake at the ER, to the ICU, to the pharmacy and, of course, the much-maligned, dreaded hospital food (and rightfully so)! Our experience was a mixed bag, but mostly positive overall. Intake took longer than I feel is acceptable for, you know...the EMERGENCY room, but the quality of care, right out of the gate, was top notch: competent, friendly nurses and technicians (BIG shout-out to Michael in the CVICU for being stellar!), from start to finish. Consultation with full-fledged doctors was few and far between, but maybe that will help keep the costs down when the remainder of the bill comes back from insurance. The Children's Garden is a-freakin'-dorable. The food was one of the few things that was consistent...consistently terrible. As has always been the case with diabetes-related care, the advice my wife receives seems to vary, based on the person giving it, with some providers seeming more confident, and competent, than others...which is probably why we end up in situations like this. Without going into too many details, one endocrinologist recommended using an insulin pump, the other recommended manual injections via insulin pens, and both of them offered different suggestions on the amount of insulin to administer, based on carb count. It's incredible to me that this isn't yet a settled science. Another irritating thing I encountered was the main entrance to the atrium being blocked off for construction or renovations, meaning that to pick up a prescription, we had to enter through the Randall Children's Hospital entrance, and then navigate an absurdly long series of hallways to get there...only to find that our prescription wasn't filled on time, and that we'd have to come back and do it all over again later. Ugh. In short, we've had better care (OHSU), and worse care (PeaceHealth), but Legacy Emanuel does enough things right to straddle the gap, and exist in our minds as a wholly acceptable and comprehensive health care provider, even during times of crisis (and as an important side note: the adjacent Randall Children's Hospital is a five star facility, no bones about it). Just...hurry up with the ER intake procedure, will ya?

I just got back from an appendectomy at Legacy Emanuel. I went in late on Saturday night (11pm)…read more I got seen by triage in about 30 mins, then taken to a private room in the ER 30 mins after that. Everyone that worked with me was empathetic, communicative and professional. I felt like I was treated really well and all of my needs were being met all through the night, until my release around 3pm on Sunday. Shout out to the ER team and the nurse staff on the 3rd floor (Brianna, Matilda, and many others whose names I can't recall...) This place deserves more than 2.9 stars. NB- I haven't dealt with billing yet. If that's a nightmare, I'll update my review. For now, I'd say 5 stars easy.
