The provider was excellent, but I have to report that I was told a pre-authorization request would be submitted to my insurance for an outside service (an MRI). A week later, I followed up with my insurance and they reported that no request had been submitted. I called ZoomCare, and indeed, no pre-authorization was ever submitted. This basically prolonged the time I could be diagnosed (and therefore treated) by a week. That is just unacceptable. read more

Came here for mental health services. Filled out a self diagnosis questionnaire for depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder in the lobby. Eventually, ten minutes late, a nurse practitioner came out, pulled me into her office, and just prescribed me antidepressants with no further resources provided, then booted me out. This took about 5 minutes and cost 300 dollars. She told me to schedule a followup appointment for a few weeks later. I did not, because the followup appointment was also going to be 300 dollars. Shockingly uncaring and useless, overall. If you are going to claim to offer mental health services, you have to actually try. read more

They miscoded multiple parts of my visit so insurance denied claim and it has been a long hassle to get this sorted out. Still working on in 5 months later. They did not inform me that a specialist I saw was out of network. Response time for follow up documents is very slow. A terrible experience. Unprofessional. I've been here twice in the past year, once for a sciatica flare-up and once for an infection in my leg. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Both times I was able to get in within a matter of hours, absolutely no wait, excellent customer service from the front desk and excellent/attentive care from the doctors. Both times I left with the medication necessary to eliminate the pain & infection. Places like Zoom Care are what the future of medicine should look like, at least for relatively minor and simple issues (painful as they may be) that shouldn't require a super long wait like you'd experience with your traditional family practice doctor. As someone who has no insurance and pays out of pocket, the prices here are more than fair and the medication is always astonishingly inexpensive, helped even more when they helped me put an app on my phone that gets the price of medicine down even lower. I'd give this place 6 stars if I could. Obviously if you're having a heart attack or something insane like that, Zoom Care is not the type of facility for those issues, but for MOST issues that you just want to get handled ASAP and for not a lot of money, and be treated by doctors and receptionists who are awesome to work with, Zoom Care is an obvious choice. There's a reason clinics like these are doing so well nowadays, they are an obvious evolution in the way trained professionals can treat the rest of us in an efficient and cost effective manner. They gave me antibiotics for a spider bite- they knew my medical history which included seizures. Asked them if the antibiotics would interfere with my anti seizure meds and they said no. 3 days later- I had a seizure. Called in and they asked to me to come in for a revaluation for the new meds (after I have been into zoom care 5 times this last week). The "doctors" are not legit doctors. Go to a actual doctor office- they just write scripts. read more

Today I found myself in need of medical care and not wanting to wait yet again, so for the third time. I opened my Zoom+Care app and made the earliest appointment I could. I made the appointment for 7am at this location at 9pm the night before. I love how the app has all my info saved, as well as my previous appointment summaries and my chart. This location is in the middle of the Pearl; a rather happenin' location, normally. Except today happens to be a national holiday and my appointment happened first thing in the morning and I was able to park right out front. The doctor was very friendly, as always, and gave clear instructions for follow up care. Even better, the she managed to do a very thorough appointment in under 10 minutes. This location also happened to have the prescription I needed, so I didn't need to go to the pharmacy. I have nothing but good things to say about all my Zoom+Care experiences, and I'll continue to use them when the need arises! read more

Absolutely awful! Appointment started late, the table for physical therapy was broken, the practitioner spent the entirety of the visit doing notetaking and I received no treatment. Despite assurances that this was covered by Providence from the front desk, I was billed $317 upon leaving. What a scam and a sham! read more

I hesitated to write a review about gynecological care when I saw Dr. Elizabeth Kaltman last year despite how impressed I was but when I went back this year I really felt I owed it to other women to know about this amazing ND that's easily accessible in the Pearl. Dr. Kaltman is very knowledgeable not only on obvious current standard care practices but up to date natural approaches as well and she allows her patient to guide the treatments they prefer. I believe her approach to be one that's middle of the road and I appreciate the balance and utilization of the best of both worlds. While I was hesitated to go to Zoom care it was a 'deeper dig' that I did on Dr. Kaltman which led me to give Zoom a try. While I miss the ability to leave messages for my Dr that a more traditional office provides- it's not greater than my desire to be a patient of hers. I also appreciate the fact that you're seen within a few minutes of your appointment time... and again she's awesome. Highly recommend! read more

I am one of the millions of Americans without health insurance. I also have a chronic problem that requires I never be without a certain antibiotic prescription, lest I suffer terrible consequences. It was time to refill said prescription. My doctor -- whom I have only seen once, back when I had insurance -- was more expensive than Zoomcare, and required diagnostics I had already performed for myself (when I had access to a lab). I was able to make an appointment for an hour and a half from the time of my call, at the Zoomcare office nearest my house. The appointment, I was told, was $89. Yay. Pertinent information: I am a veterinarian. I understand disease mechanism, necessary diagnostics, and responsible prescription use. The particulars differ from species to species, but there are certain concepts that cross species lines. And I earned the title "doctor". Surprise #1: parking was worse even than I thought. I am disabled, with a handicapped placard. It didn't matter. I limped 5 blocks to the Zoomcare in the Pearl. Surprise #2: I didn't actually get to see a doctor. I saw a Physician's Assistant. Now, while I love utilizing the rest of the medical team for simple issues (I usually see a nurse practitioner for my annual women's exam), and while most urgent care issues don't actually require the services of a doctor, this particular Physician's Assistant didn't seem to have the power (or perhaps the trust) to offer me the help I actually needed, despite the fact that I explained my situation and history carefully, and she obviously got that I understood the consequences of inappropriate antibiotic use. She wouldn't write me a prescription for 10 days of antibiotic, despite the fact that my complicated history dictates that many days of treatment. She agreed to 7 days. ("I can probably make do, if I'm careful," I thought to myself.) Surprise #3: the prescription was faxed to my pharmacy. When I finally showed up to pick it up, I got FIVE days of antibiotic. Which won't do diddly squat for me. $89 wasted. Here's hoping I don't need that prescription until after I've reacquired health insurance. I love the concept of Zoomcare, but the execution failed me. Moral: if you have particular needs, ASK. In advance. read more

Earlier this year I had a string of re-occuring ear infections. Ouch! Setting up an appointment with a doctor though? Would get me an appointment a week away, when my ear hurts *now*. Ear-infections and other relatively minor illnesses and injuries don't really require a full and involved hospital or doctor visit. The nurses at ZoomCare are pretty good for covering the basics - annual check ups, basic screenings, bumps and bruises, colds and small bugs. I like that I can make an appointment almost immediately, sometimes within the next hour, and get on with my life (or onto my bedrest and eardrops, as it was with my infections). The pearl location is particularly friendly and open on Saturdays, unlike their other downtown location which is closed on the weekends. I'll definitely be scheduling more of my annual check ups and minor medical woes with this location. It really beats waiting for a doctor's appointment or going to urgent care for some shit you aren't really sure is *that* urgent yet (but is nonetheless painful and time-sensitive). read more

I had some horrible hip pain and found Dr Jennifer, an Orthopedist. I was able to schedule online for a next day appointment. She was wonderful. She quickly identified the problem and sent me off to imaging. After the imaging was done, she contacted me in less than 24 hours with the results and the next steps to take. Couldn't ask for a better experience. I am constantly impressed my Zoom Care. It is an amazing service and so easy to use. They are kind, no-nonsense, get to the bottom of it Doctors and staff and I truly appreciate the level of care. read more

During quarantine I decided to open up a yelp account because the businesses that have been helping me deserve to be highlighted STORMY (and an adorable bang-ed woman at the front) helped me in today. I live walking distance. (if you dont, parking is SO easy here) Mu illness was more a rash on my face. My most recent appointment, I was sitting in the waiting room for 15 minutes before the doctor finally showed up, only to tell me that we were passed the 5 minute late start mark and that we couldn't have the appointment. I had an appointment with Zoom care (Dr. Jeff Katz was the attending physician supervising a physician assistant) on 3/1/2019. I am a physician who was traveling to Portland to visit my son when I had a recrudescence of shingles. The problem with shingles is that in older patients (I am 66 years old) it develops into post herpetic neuralgia (a chronic pain condition that can be very disabling) Over the year I have had multiple prior episodes always treated with Acyclovir, an antiviral drug with almost no side effects. I explained the situation and asked for Acyclovir which is a standard treatment for shingles (see Mayo clinic website or Medscape). There are multiple other references readily available on line. Dr. Katz was adamant that he wouldn't provide me with this medication which had worked 4 times previously. He did not believe it was indicated despite abundant literature. When I offered to find a reference for him he hung up the telephone. This is an astounding lack of knowledge in the treatment of a common condition(1,000,000 episodes per year in the US). The incidence of post herpetic neuralgia in patients over 60 is between 25% to 50% and there is no cure for this severely painful condition. The Acyclovir decreases the chances of post herpetic neuralgia from developing. If you have to go to Zoom care be careful. As a physician, my advice would be to try and get treatment somewhere else. I did and the next physician prescribed Acyclovir which stopped the shingles in 12 hours. read more

I absolutely adore ZOOM+Care. I have been to many different locations, the Pearl District one most recently, and every encounter I have had has been superb. The staff are kind and informative, the pricing is transparent, and you can't beat the speed at which you can get things DONE with ZOOM+Care vs. conventional doctor's visits. I truly feel listened to each time I visit a provider and each visit has been extremely productive. I have used ZOOM+Care for urgent care, dermatology, primary care, and pre-employment/pre-matriculation screening. As a medical student and future physician, I feel like this is how medical care should be- quick, transparent, and compassionate. Keep it up ZOOM+Care! read more

I've wavered back and forth on this review, debating on if it would be considered TMI. After some consideration, I've decided that it's worth a little oversharing if this info can help others out there. So, raise your hand if you've heard of Truvada. This one-a-day pill dramatically reduces the risk of HIV transmission, and if properly taken by somebody who is negative, their chances of contracting the disease are reduced by 92%. While it's by no means a cure, Truvada is pretty much a game-changer in the fight against HIV/AIDS. It's also horribly stigmatized, and due to ignorance or bigotry in the medical field, many would-be users are unable to find a doctor who will prescribe the drug. Having decided that it's time for me to take this step in protecting myself, I began asking around for advice on where to go, hearing plenty of horror stories of not being able to get a script, or being slut-shamed by their PCP. The other thing I started to hear? Go to Zoom+Care. Much like how Zoom+Care has a thoroughly modern and relevant take on practicing medicine, they also seem to make their medical decisions on modern and relevant science. While I had to jump through a few necessary hoops (a full-spectrum STI screening, tests of my liver and kidney functions, etc), the staff at Zoom+Care provided the medical services I requested, and did so in a supportive and matter-of-fact manner. So much about Zoom+Care impresses me. I'll be sending all of my friends and acquaintances here for their own personal needs, whatever those may be. read more

It was bound to happen...holiday weekend, warm weather, shorts & flip flops in the yard. One thing led to another & The Big Man suffered an injury involving a puncture wound - don't ask! Anyway, after staunching the spurting flow of hemo, icing the affected area & bandaging things up + dispensing a hospital-portion of Ibuprofen, I enquired when he'd last had a tetanus shot...The answer seemed to be somewhere between 'Never' and "I don't remember'. We made a quickie appointment at Zoomcare & it was the easiest, most pleasant medical transaction I have had! He got to see a PA quickly who assessed the situation, bandaged the wound, gave him a shot PDQ & sent us on our way. We were in & out in about an hour, with cheap parking in the Whole Foods lot - cost $2.00. Thankfully, they will bill our insurance company, other wise, who knows what this might cost. Still, on a Saturday afternoon on a Memorial Day weekend, could you possibly ask for more?! The Big Man is fine, hobbling around with dinner cooking for him, and nicely anesthetized with a swell bottle of French rose...Go here if you need medical care & do not have 12 hours to dawdle in an ER waiting room! read more

Warning, rant ahead! The doctors at this location wanted me to keep coming to Zoomcare instead of finding a "regular" doctor's office. They said I didn't need to do that, that I could get everything I needed through them. Well, they put me on a neurological medication that is dangerous to suddenly quit taking. And then they suddenly stopped giving it to me because of a greedy reason. This medication was given to me gradually, beginning at 100 mg a day, culminating to my current dosage of 1,200 mg a day. I have very limited means and I'm not able to come in and pay for a visit whenever they want me to. My refills ran out, so I contacted Zoomcare. They called and told me they sent a prescription to my pharmacy and it should be ready the next day. Well, it wasn't. I thought it was the pharmacy's fault, because each time I contacted Zoomcare they said, "Hm, that's strange! Well, I'll fax it over again!" I made a total of four calls to Zoomcare and probably a good dozen to the pharmacy. By this time I was overwhelmed, emotionally unstable and physically ill so my mother went in to the pharmacy to find out what was going on. The pharmacist was worried that I didn't have my IMPORTANT prescription and gave her a three day supply. Three days later, today, I called first the pharmacy followed by Zoomcare again and was asked if I had checked my email. I didn't know what that had to do with anything. I was informed that my refill request had been denied because they want me to make an appointment and come in for a checkup. So instead of telling me this, they lied to me and waited for me to receive the email because they didn't feel like telling me personally. This is not a narcotic or anything like that but a neurological medication for my peripheral neuropathy and paresthesia. I told them I don't have more than literally a couple of pennies in my purse and I cannot come in. His response? "We have a free day at another location on the second Wednesday of each month." It is currently the 18th of June, meaning that is a month away, so I repeatedly asked for a suggestion of what I was supposed to do since this is an emergency situation; this is not something I can just stop taking. He said he didn't know. He basically used a few sentences to give me a verbal shrug. I'm going to have to go to the Emergency room and see what happens. Even though it will ultimately cost a lot more, at least they don't refuse to help you if you can't pay. Hippocratic Oath, you know. "Do no harm", well, depriving me of my medication and refusing to help me, even if that help is only useful advise, is doing me harm. So Zoomcare is not interested in my health and safety, they are interested in what money they can drag out of my pocket and my insurance. Every time I have had this type of issue in the past with my other medication, my previous doctor in California said my health was important and I wasn't made to come in when I couldn't afford it. I'm having trouble comprehending the fact that I was told by Zoomcare doctors that there was no need to seek a primary doctor elsewhere when that was obviously not true. I will now seek another doctor, and I obviously won't be returning to Zoomcare. Ever. read more

I normally just go to walk-in clinics for prescription refills, but after struggling with a relentless migraine for several weeks, I made an appointment to stop in and find out could be my issue. I fully expected a rushed doctor who had less than 5 minutes for me and dismissed my symptoms. This is the level of service I'm used to at traditional doctor's offices, I suppose. Instead, the doctor asked me a few questions and listened to my heart and lungs and checked my hears and nose and eyes. Without any knowledge of my medical history, after listening to my heart, he immediately asked me specifically about a heart condition that I have -- then asked what medications I'm currently taking for my allergies. He was able to determine that a new allergy medication was causing problems for my existing heart condition and was triggering migraines. He explained it to me in plain terms -- drew some diagrams and made some lists for me, wrote me a prescription to change my allergy medication, and was very thorough and friendly throughout the conversation. At no point did I feel rushed, stupid, or hypochondriacal. New meds resolved the migraines issue within a few days as promised. Also, I love their online system with easy appointment scheduling, record of past visits and notes from the doc, and messaging for questions and followup. Front desk staff are friendly as well. This isn't a review for this specific location, but rather most zoom clinics + specialists I've seen. Zoom care is so hit or miss! I even have the zoom health insurance and while getting a same day appointment + prescriptions is incredible, having to continuously return to them because they can't figure out what's wrong with you, gets to be exhausting really quick. If you're young and healthy and know what is wrong with you, zoomcare is the place to go. If you're unsure what's wrong, know that you'll see several different doctors who all prescribe different things to fix previous mistakes and still won't be able to clue you in. This has happened to me with zoom almost every other time I've visited (undiagnosed pelvic pain, strep throat [misdiagnosed until I saw an MD at a different urgent care], and now with a kidney infections Some visits I've left completely reassured, some visits I've left with a prescription and no other further instructions because the doc was eager to get me out the door. Zoomcare doesn't like to prescribe any sort of pain meds, and would prefer you take Advil or manage your pain differently. I understand preventative medicine but I also understand the need to listen to your patients for more than 5 minutes. If someone is in pain and not sleeping, telling them to take Advil isn't the quick fix. That being said, if you have a UTI or need STD testing/birth control, stitches, etc you'll be greeted warmly because they can handle all of that in 15 mins or less. Fantastic IT system. Scheduling an appointment with them is super easy and they even work on the weekends. But the PA that we got was completely useless. She was extremely spacey, slow in thought and prescribed a medicine that my ENT immediately corrected. --Updated Review -- The ZoomCare folks made the follow up call the day after, I explained to them how terrible the physician assistant (PA) was (slow, un-responsive, non-personalized), they refunded my copay and promised to follow up with the PA. Great organization, especially the website and front desk folks, just a little weak regarding one specific PA. read more

Zoomcare literally saved me yesterday. I was in so much excruciating back pain I almost fainted in the office, and after a few questions and a short physical exam my doctor was able to give me several meds to help me manage the pain (it was a Sunday and no one was calling me back). Now it's the next morning and thanks to the drug induced sleep I was able to put myself in things are feeling infinitely better. The -1 star was that I had to pay for the visit upfront because it was a weekend and they couldn't get in touch with my insurance. That being said, they were very transparent about the process and I'll get a refund as soon as the insurance picks up the bill. Then another -2 stars because I had to call 1 month after my visit and inquire about my refund of $160 that they seemed to be trying to get away with keeping. read more

On a short weekend vacation my husband had an issue on the plane descent into PDX. His right ear was throbbing and he was in pain. Got to the Kimpton Monaco hotel called the front desk for an urgent care recommendation they did not hesitate to say Zoom Care on 13th Ave. We walked in at 11am and 15 minutes later he was seen. Dr. Reynolds is wonderful. She has a wonderful "bedside" manner. She is very caring and throughout in her examination. She did not rush at all and we had all of our questions and concerns addressed. She prescribed 3 medicines all of which were filled on the spot. No need to run out to a pharmacy! Great service. Price? Under $150 for everything. Paging Dr. Love..paging Dr. Love... I wished whatever I had was love sickness, but it wasn't. I had these coughs that wouldn't go away after few weeks. I thought it was an allergy, but just to be sure I made an online appointment with Zoomcare on Saturday. I got there, gave my information to the nice lady at the front desk. Everything is done paperless. Filling out paperwork, it's not my favorite thing to do, but at Zoomcare I don't have to worry about that. She even let me know that my United Healthcare considers Zoomcare as an Urgent Care visit so my copay will be more than doctor visit copay. Which is ridiculous. I will end up paying more if I used my insurance instead of paying out of pocket for $99 flat fee. So just for FYI, if you have United Healthcare and need to go to Zoomcare, don't bother to use your insurance. The doctor was friendly, nice, and informative. All gadgets that she used on me were high tech and digital devices. She asked me questions, gave me suggestions, prescribed me my drugs, and even gave me print out information about what I had. The whole visit was just under one hour. It was pretty amazing to know and experience Zoomcare. I can say, it's much better than doctor visits anywhere else. Few days after my visit, I even got a phone call from the doctor office just to asked me how am I doing. I just think that's awesome. It shows that they care about their patients. Went in on a Sunday for a terrible case of tonsillitis I had come down with. They informed me as I went in to see the doc that they would contact my insurance and would determine how much I would pay for my visit. Oh, excellent, what a great thing to do! As I left the office, I was informed by a plasticky receptionist I would have to pay for the visit in its entirety, as it would be 'going toward my deductible'. 100% bullshit, this was a lie on her part. I hit my deductible months ago and this was not the case. I had no choice but to pay for the visit, and contacted my insurance the next day. Indeed, I should have only paid $25 for the visit, instead of $160. I contacted the billing department and they told me that, because the visit was on a Sunday, this happens a lot as insurance companies don't always answer the phone on weekends. This was in direct contradiction to what ms. plasticky makeup had informed me. Now I have to wait for them to receive my insurance payment before they refund me. I don't see why they just can't bill folks like any other medical institution. Why should I have to overpay by over $100 and then wait two weeks for a refund every time I see them on a weekend? Seems greedy and scummy. As I detailed above, they simply aren't honest. I recommend The Portland Clinic (in SW) for urgent care needs. They bill like any normal place, and don't lie to their patients. read more
